Hi my name is Hocus. When I first got to Ontario I was very scared. I didn’t want my foster parents to touch me and I would nip out of fear. Since then, I have learnt to trust my foster parents and will now let them gently pet me around my face and chest. Sometimes I get overwhelmed and don’t want to be pet and will try to tell you by nipping, but I’m working on it and still learning to trust that I won’t be hurt. I may not have ever had a positive interaction with humans but I’m really coming around with my foster parents now that I know they are friendly! I am a quick learner and have figured out sit and paw. My favourite thing is getting praised. I also love running and playing with my sister Pocus and foster sister. I am working on walking on a leash and have enjoyed my short walks! I really like my foster dog sister who has taught me many positive behaviours. I would really like to be in a home with a friend I can trust and learn from! I like my crate and sleep in there at night as well as a nap in the day. I really like to stick to a schedule! I don’t like being left alone for long periods of time and need someone to help me work on my separation anxiety. I am still a bit fearful and like to go slow when being introduced to new things. Since I grew up in a backyard I would really enjoy having a yard to play in. I would really love to find my forever home so I can finally adjust and find trusting and loving humans! I still have work to do and need someone patient but I am a very sweet boy.

Story
Lady is fostered in Hamilton Ontario. Apply to adopt at rebeldogrescue.com*All adoptions with Rebel Dog Rescue have a 15 day probation period. Read about our adoption process on our website. Lady came to us from the City of Houston animal shelter. We met her at our rescue ranch after she was pulled from the shelter. We could tell she was well spirited, but it was clear that she had been neglected. She played well with other dogs and enjoyed a medicated bath to sooth her skin . Which was irritated when she was first rescued. Since then, she has been on preventatives for the fleas and skin is looking so much better (fur is almost all grown back in). She really loves to play with balls and other toys, and she knows the command drop. We would classify her as having medium-high energy once she comes out of her shell, but with sufficient exercise and play she becomes a great relaxed dog. She is looking for a family to help her gain self-confidence and take her on lots of adventures. She is a bit vocal if left unattended in the kennel, so we are looking for a single or detached home, just to be safe. She is good with kids, however she does have a bad habit of jumping on people, so this is something that will need to be worked on. Overall, this black beauty will make a wonderful companion!Name: LadyBreed: Lab mixAge: ~2 years Weight: ~45lbSex: Female, spayedColour: Black with whiteMedical: sore/irritated skin at rescue treated and almost fully recoveredGood with men: YesGood with women: YesGood with kids 0-6: Yes, however due to strength and jumping suitable for older children Good with kids 6+: Yes Good with dogs: Yes Good with cats: Unknown, no exposure. Given excitement to outdoor cats she has seen likely best in a home without cats House trained: YesCrate trained: Yes. Settles very well at night Vocal if she sees people, otherwise great in crate. Resource guarding: Only high value treats/food from other dogs - eats in her kennel Walks on a leash: Yes, but pulls Energy level: Medium-High Requires detached/single home: YesSeparation anxiety: Possibly Barker: Average
