Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Koda!  *His adoption fee is $350.00. *He is believed to be a 11 month old Labrador Retriever mix.*In his short life he has already had two owners. This makes him a little distrustful of new people.*Koda is somewhat shy and will take a second to warm up- but once he does, instant best buddy!*He is a big, playful puppy and very sweet. Koda is just a teddy bear and cuddler once he is settled with you.*Koda understands correction and learns quickly. *Koda is potty trained.  He does walk on a leash but pulls.*He will require a fenced yard and would not do well in an apartment setting.*Koda has been around kids- he was curious and polite but we encourage supervised introductions.*Koda does well with other dogs and it would benefit him to have one in the home.*This big guy needs a family that will take the time to be patient with him and be willing to work with him.*Koda may take extra time to warm up to men rather than women.*Please understand, in the 'Meet and Greet' times we set up, Koda may not be fully acclimated to someone in that 30 minute to 1 hour time.  He will need a family willing to adopt him, take him home, and allow him to fully integrate into the family and become comfortable with all members.*Ruff House in Fort Wayne has offered free training and some doggie daycare days to Koda's adopter.*Once he is acclimated to a new home, Koda will no doubt be loyal and affectionate with his new family!*The adoption fee helps allow Perfect Paws to provide all animals with current, age appropriate vaccinations which include, DHLPP, Kennel Cough and Rabies (if the pet is at least 13 weeks old), and spay/neuter when necessary.  The fee also helps with the cost of deworming; heartworm testing (if the pet is at least 1 year old), heartworm prevention as well as flea and tick prevention for animals cared for through the rescue. He will go home with a collar, leash, and vaccination record. Story
The name’s Alchemy.Yeah, yeah, I know—I’ve got the looks. Sleek black coat, amber eyes that’ll stop you in your tracks. But let me tell you, I’m more than just a handsome face. I’ve been hanging out here at FDHS for months now, ever since I came in as a “stray.” My old family? Never showed up for me. But it’s fine—I’m not one to dwell on the past. Here’s the deal: I’m more than happy entertaining myself and "doing me", but I’ve got a heart of gold for the right person. Cats? Nope. Squirrels? Double nope. Other dogs? Ehh, I’m picky—it’s nothing personal. I’m just a guy who knows what he likes. Kids? Let’s keep it to the older crowd or none at all. I’m a strong dude and don’t always know my own strength, so you’ll want a harness for walks. Trust me, I look good in it.Meeting new people? I take it slow. But once you’re in my circle, you’re in for life. I thrive on positive vibes—treats, kind words, and a little patience go a long way with me. I’m not everyone's cup of tea, but hey, who is? I’ve got a lot of love to give if you’re willing to give me a chance. So, what do you say? Are you the kind of person who can handle a dog like me? If you are, I promise I’ll make it worth your while. 🐾**Neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention. Weighs about 70 lbs**

Story
Meet Watson, a sweet Boxer mix who’s ready to find his forever home.Watson came to FDHS several weeks ago as a stray, and unfortunately, he was never reclaimed. Since then, he’s been feeling a little out of place in the shelter, as the noise and chaos of the kennel environment make him anxious. What he really wants is a cozy spot to call his own and someone to be his cuddle buddy. This lovable guy is still very much a puppy at heart—he loves to go on walks and explore the world with a friend by his side. A quiet stroll away from the hustle and bustle of the kennels is just what he needs to feel at ease. Watson has plenty of energy and enthusiasm, but he could use some guidance on how to play gently. He’d thrive in a home with another dog who can match his play level, and he would likely do well with cats too.Watson may be a little unsure right now, but with the right person, he’ll show you just how sweet and loyal he can be. If you’re looking for a playful, loving companion who will always be by your side, Watson is your guy. Apply today to meet this sweet boy and give him the forever home he deserves!**Neutered, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines & monthly prevention**

Story
Guess who's baaaaaack! Through no fault of his own, Cedar is back at FDHS. After being adopted out for a few years, he thought he’d finally found his forever home but the universe had different plans. Originally found as a stray with no history to his name, Cedar has spent too much of his life in limbo. But through it all, he has remained the sweetest boy—a gentle, loving soul who wants nothing more than to belong. He’s wonderful with kids and fantastic with other dogs. He’s never shown aggression, but he will use his deep, impressive voice when he’s feeling nervous—especially around certain men. He’s a sensitive guy who just needs patience and understanding.Cedar wears his heart on his paw. He loves fully, fiercely, and without hesitation. If you’re his person, he’ll make sure you know it with endless affection and loyalty. Just one thing—no chickens, please! Cedar’s idea of farm life doesn’t quite match up with what the chickens have in mind.We know his forever family is out there. We just need to find them. If you have room in your heart and home for a dog who will love you more than anything, Cedar is waiting. And this time, let’s make forever really mean forever.

Story
We adopted Bella as a pup from a relative who had too many in a litter. She’s a great girl, she’s 2 years old so she’s still got that Labrador pup energy. She’s incredible with kids and loves any other pets who will give her attention. She’s also completely house trained. I’m leaving for college and I’m the only dog person in my family. We’ve had a great 2 years and I’m looking for a good home for my girl.
