Story
Katie is currently looking for a forever home for her golden years. Katie's owner passed and had nowhere to go. She is currently in a foster home, learning to live, love and trust again. She has done amazing in her foster home. Katie needs structure in her life as she sometimes can have accidents in the home if you don't catch her "outside" cue's. She loves to play! She's not much of a toy play dog but would rather play with her people and get loving!  Katie sleeps through the night and does not have any existing medical needs. She would do best as an only dog but seems to do better with smaller, respectable dogs. She has not been cat tested but judging on her reaction to small wildlife, we think cats would be a no. Older kids would suit her best as well.  She walks great on a leash and doesn't need a crate when left alone (as long as you don't leave food out as she will try to counter surf to the best of her abilities and usually succeeds!) Katie's hearing is not the best but her vision is still good! She may do well in an apartment but would definitely need to be a first floor apartment ONLY.November 4, 2024, 7:46 pm

Story
Boe is 5 years old and is a black lab mix. He was adopted in August of 2019 from the Cuyahoga County Animal Shelter in Valley View Ohio when he was only 3 months old. Doctors estimated he was born around May 30, 2019. He was found roaming the streets of Garfield Heights, OH. He is a loving, playful, and highly energetic doggie! He is crate and potty trained. He was already neutered when we adopted him and he is microchipped. He is our only pet and has never been around cats. He has been around dogs because we sometimes board him at Barks & Recreation in Macedonia, OH when we go out of town. He seems to do pretty good there. He loves to play! Boe received his yearly vaccines on July 6, 2024.Boe loves car rides!November 19, 2024, 1:32 pm

Story
BIG News: Tiny has his forever home! Meet Tiny!! Tiny is a 4 1/2 yr old Lab/Pit mix weighing 62 lbs. Tiny has a very SAD story. On June 1st Tiny was taken to Paws by the Lake Pet Resort for one week boarding by his owner and he was NEVER picked up!! Tiny was abandoned at Paws ;-(. Fast forward over 11 weeks, Paws has done everything required by law to try and reunite Tiny, but his owner does not want him back! As we approach 3 months of poor Tiny in boarding, Paws reached out to Love-A-Stray to take Tiny into our rescue program. They did not want Tiny to end up at the overcrowded Lorain County Kennel so of course we said we would take him in. We had him neutered and his vaccinations updated and the growth next to his eye removed. He is a really sweet dog! Tiny is clean in his kennel, so he is house-trained, crate-trained. He knows basic commands (sit, stay, down). Tiny really deserves someone that will love him and NEVER abandon him! We are searching for a forever home or a temporary foster home so he can leave Paws. Paws is a wonderful topnotch facility, but 3 months is just way too long for any dog in boarding!! We have a trainer visiting Tiny next week for a complete evaluation but based on his behavior and interaction with the staff at Paws, who has spent a lot of time with Tiny, he is a wonderful boy! Tiny also does well with his 4 legged friend at Paws-Cooper, so we know Tiny is dog friendly ;-) . If you are interested in Tiny, please submit an online application so we can learn a little about you to make sure Tiny would be a good match for you and your family. We do not do out of state adoptions, due to our trial adoption process. Adoption fee/donation is $100.00 If you have specific questions, please email the adoption coordinator at info@loveastraydog.com If you can't foster or adopt, please consider donating to help us with medical expenses and ongoing care. You can mail your donation to: Love-A-Stray, P.O. Box 125, Attn: Tiny, Avon Lake, OH 44012 or visit www.loveastraydog.com for credit card/PayPal information, adoption application, available dogs and upcoming events. Thank you!

Story
Hello, my name is Duke. I moved to Ohio from New York to live with my foster family. My family was very sorry to let me go because I am a good boy. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen life circumstances they could not keep me. My foster family takes good care of me. I live with 6 other dogs and 6 kids that I love to play with! I am good with all sizes of dogs, but my foster parents say I need to learn my boundaries better. I don’t take the hint very well when my furry friends say they have had enough. I am a big cuddle bug and love sleeping with people if I am allowed. Mom and Dad say I don’t understand how big and strong I am, so I am sorry if I accidentally knock my kids down or hurt someone jumping into their lap. I love to chew so chew toys are a must. My old Mom said my old Dad was very mean to me, so sometimes I cower when I it seems like I am in trouble and could be hit. I am very afraid of corrective collars, please don’t put one on me. If I bark, it is because I need attention, or I see or hear something outside. I don’t bark unnecessarily. My foster parents say I need more training. I know sit and come but I don’t always listen. I am very food motivated so that is a benefit for training. I currently eat my lunch and dinner in my crate because I have foster siblings that don't like to share food and my foster parents don't want anyone to get in a fight. My Mom gets up at 6 in the morning for work, so I am used to going out in the morning at 6:30 and then being in my crate until 5. I do well in my crate, but my favorite time is when they come home, and I can be out to run the yard and play with my family and friends. I eat 1.5 cups of food 2x a day and I always have water in my crate when my parents are gone. I am a really good boy with lots of energy and love to share. Please consider giving me my furever home!
