Story
Meet Boss, the adventurous and clever canine looking for a family to love! Boss is a talented girl who already knows how to sit, shake, and lie down on command. A fast learner, she’s always eager to impress and takes quickly to new tricks! Although she’s selective with her dog friends and isn’t suited for a home with small animals, Boss has a huge heart for people—especially anyone willing to give her pets and love.   She’s a bit of a toad-hunting pro in the yard and enjoys a good snack of cucumbers. Boss can be timid at first, but once she’s comfortable, her warm and friendly side shines through. She’s good with older kids who know how to be respectful, and while she’s not a fan of loud equipment like chainsaws or lawnmowers, she’s happy to keep her family company on quieter outdoor days. Boss would thrive with a family that understands her personality quirks and will give her the attention she deserves—she's truly a very good girl! ##1914084##

She also wouldn't have a problem sleeping in your hed! She was never in a house. She lived in a barn/ farm having litters of puppies. Now she is eager to become a treasured member of a family and put puppy making behind her. Her puppies are gone and she is longing for a home of her own where she can learn how to be a dog! Raven should be the only pet in the home and be the queen of the castle! She loves kids and always enjoys their company.  ##2088248##

Story
Whiskey is a gorgeous merle, retriever/herding mix, with soulful brown eyes that are just begging for an experienced owner to continue the confidence building and obedience training he has begun at Rogers K9. Whiskey is able to heal nicely and to maintain sit/stay as well as down stay. He has a lot of energy, typical of his breed mix and loves to play fetch. Whiskey is most comfortable with familiar people; he takes some time to trust. Because he has some herding breed qualities, he may be best as an only dog. A fenced in yard will help manage his energy level. Whiskey is almost 3 years old (DNA in photos) and he weighs 65 lbs. Whiskey is house-trained, crate-trained, and knows all his commands. He is very smart and learns fast. With Whiskey's breed mix he will require daily exercise. He is looking for someone with Aussie mix experience. He has lived with children (over age of 10) and is loyal to his family members. He has also been in a foster home that had a cat. Whiskey is neutered, completely vaccinated and microchipped. Whiskey is not a "plug and play" dog, he will need someone willing to continue working with him;-) Whiskey is currently at Rogers K9 board and train. We are in need of a foster home as he searches for his forever home. If you are interested in fostering, please submit a foster form. LAS provides everything for the foster program. If you are interested in Whiskey, please submit an online application so we can learn a little about you to make sure he would be a good match for you. We do not do out of state adoptions, due to our trial adoption process. Adoption fee/donation is $150.00 If you have specific questions, please email the adoption coordinator at info@loveastraydog.com If you can't foster or adopt, please consider donating to help us with medical expenses and ongoing care. You can mail your donation to: Love-A-Stray, P.O. Box 125, Attn: Whiskey, Avon Lake, OH 44012 or visit www.loveastraydog.com for credit card/PayPal information, adoption application, available dogs and upcoming events. Thank you!

Story
Sweet Ginger is being returned to us after being in a home about 5 months.  They loved her and are heartbroken but Ginger has high prey drive for free roaming chickens.  That being said she must have a secure fenced in yard, a privacy fence is preferred or at least one that is 5 ft high.  She seems to be fine with other dogs after a proper introduction including small ones.  Ginger could also flourish as an only dog as she loves her people.  She has not been around cats so we are unsure but based on her prey drive a home without cats would be best.   Children should be older and respectful.  Ginger is about 8 years old and 50 lbs, a nice manageable size. She is fully vetted and had a dental last fall.   Ginger is housetrained and loves to ride in the car.  She can be left with the run of the house while you are gone without issue.  Ginger has the most adorable smile, we think it is adorable.   If interested in Ginger, please email hartmanshounds@gmail.com.  Her adoption fee is $150.October 27, 2024, 7:14 pm

Every now and then you just meet a dog you just can't understand how anyone could have let go of. Lennon is definitely one of those dogs! She is absolutely stunning with her soft, chocolate coat and amber eyes. Out of her kennel she is sweet, cuddly, and ignores the other dogs passing by. She is listed at approximately a year old and a Labrador Retriever mix. She would really like a home for the holidays! Come meet her today! A meet and greet is required with other dogs that live in your home prior to adoption. The shelter is open Tuesdays through Fridays 3:30-6:30pm AND Saturdays & Sundays 1pm-4pm. No appointments are needed during those times. Thank you for considering the adoption of a shelter animal in need!

Story
Chance will be patiently waiting at the shelter for his forever home. Meet Chance! Chance is an approximate 2-year-old Chocolate Lab and Beagle mix with a heart full of love just waiting to shine. He's a sweet and gentle soul who can be a bit shy at first, but with patience and kindness, he'll warm up and become your most loyal companion. Once Chance trusts you, his affection and devotion know no bounds. This clever boy has a knack for exploring, so he'll need a secure environment and a patient person willing to take things slow as you both learn boundaries together. Chance thrives with someone who understands that building trust takes time but is incredibly rewarding. If you're ready to offer love and patience to a shy but wonderful dog, Chance could be your perfect match! If you think Chance has stolen your heart, please bring your family and canine companions to the shelter during our open hours to meet him. Note that a meet and greet with other dogs in the home is required before adoption can be completed to make sure everyone gets along.

Story
Katie is currently looking for a forever home for her golden years. Katie's owner passed and had nowhere to go. She is currently in a foster home, learning to live, love and trust again. She has done amazing in her foster home. Katie needs structure in her life as she sometimes can have accidents in the home if you don't catch her "outside" cue's. She loves to play! She's not much of a toy play dog but would rather play with her people and get loving!  Katie sleeps through the night and does not have any existing medical needs. She would do best as an only dog but seems to do better with smaller, respectable dogs. She has not been cat tested but judging on her reaction to small wildlife, we think cats would be a no. Older kids would suit her best as well.  She walks great on a leash and doesn't need a crate when left alone (as long as you don't leave food out as she will try to counter surf to the best of her abilities and usually succeeds!) Katie's hearing is not the best but her vision is still good! She may do well in an apartment but would definitely need to be a first floor apartment ONLY.November 4, 2024, 7:46 pm
