**WE ARE CURRENTLY DOING ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY. YOU MUST CALL TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT IF YOU'RE INTERESTED IN ADOPTING. PLEASE LEAVE US A VOICEMAIL IF YOU ARE UNABLE TO REACH US. THANK YOU FOR YOUR PATIENCE AND UNDERSTANDING.- CCDP STAFF** Hi there. My name is Baxter. I'm about 2 1/2 yeas old and I weigh about 65 lbs. I was picked up by the pound in March after my owner had been incarcerated and there was nobody to care for me. I tested positive for heartworm and I just tested negative for microfilaria and negative for heartworm on a 4dx test, so I am finally all clear! Anyone that has ever dealt with a heartworm dog knows that there is a strict exercise restriction in place during treatment. Needless to say the last 6 months have been no fun between the heartworm treatment itself and the restrictions. Now I can run in the play yards, go for nice long walks and play play play!! I need to find a family that will keep up with my basic vet care. I get heartguard the 1st of every month and should remain on heartworm preventative for the rest of my life to keep me from ever needing horrible heartworm treatment again. I am a wonderful boy. I was a housedog prior to my arrival at the pound, but do to restrictions and the past nearly 8 months being here at the pound, I might need some refreshers with potty habits. I am a very sweet boy! I love people and I have been good around other dogs and the kitties here at the pound. If you're looking for an excellent dog to add to your family, please consider adopting me. Our adoption fee is $152. We accept cash, check or credit/ debit cards for adoption fees. If you pay using a credit or debit card, a convenience fee of 2.39% will also be applied. If paying by check, you will need 2. One Check will be for the dog license, and one will be for your dog's adoption fee, which includes heartworm testing (for dogs 6 months of age old and older), parvo/distemper vaccine, rabies vaccine, bordetella vaccine, 3 days of panacur de-wormer, spay or neuter surgery, microchip, and a current Ohio dog license. We DO offer foster to adopt. (We will NOT accept cash for foster to adopt). We highly recommend you do a foster to adopt with your new dog if you are not 100% sure your new dog is going to work out in your home. Foster to adopt gives you a couple of weeks with the dog to make sure they are a good fit with your family before your payment is processed and the adoption is finalized. ALL DOGS/PUPPIES WILL BE SPAYED OR NEUTERED unless a health issue prohibits the surgery from being performed. Not all dogs posted for adoption are spayed/ neutered yet. If you're driving a long distance to adopt, please verify that the vetting process has been completed and dog you're interested in adopting is still available for adoption. The above mentioned vetting is all included in your adoption fee. The adoption fee and what is included in the adoption fee is NON-NEGOTIABLE. Adoptions MUST be done at the pound and in person as there is paperwork to fill out and an adoption contract that must be signed by the adopter. This means you must be willing to travel to our shelter to adopt. If the dog you're interested in adopting has medical conditions or injuries which require medical treatment, we ask that you help with the medical bills, in addition to their adoption fee if possible so we can continue to help the dogs coming in who need additional vet care. We are a county run shelter, therefore we cannot control our intake or the health or behavior of the dogs that come in to our shelter. Although we try our hardest to place all of our adoptable dogs, there are certain circumstances in which any dog in our care could be euthanized at any time and without further notice (IE: sudden untreatable medical condition or injury, temperament or behavioral problems which may not be apparent when the dog first arrives, etc.), therefore all dogs at our shelter should be considered urgent. We try our absolute hardest to never have to euthanize for space and have not had to do so for many years thanks to the ongoing support from the public and high adoption rates. Please remember; the adoption of a more highly adoptable dog will mean more time for the less adoptable dog in the kennel next to him! Shelter hours are Monday-Friday: 8 am- 4 pm. Saturday, Sunday and holidays: 8 am - 12 pm. Adoptions are always welcome any day of the week/ weekend and on holidays. We are here everyday to care for the dogs and the best way to make our day is to see our dogs go to loving families. There is nobody in the office on Saturday, Sunday or holidays, so therefore, we are unable to answer or return phone calls over the weekend. We are only staffed to take care of the dogs and do adoptions over the weekends/ on holidays. Can't adopt a dog? We would love to have more volunteers who are able to spend time with our dogs! The dogs LOVE going for walks and the socialization and exercise helps make the dogs more adoptable. Story
Hello, I`m Bubblegum! I came here as a stray and was very afraid. I wasn`t sure who all these people were or why I was here. It does take me a bit of time to warm up and trust new people, but once I do I am affectionate and full of fun. I love to eat snacks, jump up for hugs, or show you my play bow. I`m still such a youngster in so many ways and I would love a family who could raise me right, give me time to blossom, and make me feel safe. I am active and energetic, so I need a family who can keep up with me! I`m also very smart and love to learn, so if you have interest in training that is a huge plus! I have a blast in dog playgroup and would love to live with a dog too. I would love to meet you and get to know you better. Come on down today! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Dogs are individuals and have personality conflicts, just like us. Play groups do not guarantee that territorial or resource guarding issues will not surface in the home. While play groups do help us get to know the dog`s better, once they are adopted their new environments and new relationships will influence their behavior in ways we cannot predict. The Adoption Fee Includes:- initial canine distemper combination vaccination- first worming or stool check- rabies vaccination (for animals over 3 months of age)- 24 Petwatch microchipping- flea treatment/preventative- spaying or neutering-heartworm testingAdoption fee: $135.00Per state law, ALL ADOPTERS must purchase a non-refundable 2024 dog license at time of adoption for any canine three months and older. The cost of the license is $9.20. (Senior Citizen or Person with Disability-$7.20)Leash and collar included

Story
Hello! I am Ceaser! I am an older guy, goofy and sweet, looking for a forever home. I was surrendered after my owner`s landlord wouldn`t allow me to live with them. I have lived with teens before and did well, but would need to meet any children I may interact with to see how we get along. I am full of energy and adventure! I love to go on walks and meet new people. If you have snacks I will certainly want to try them. If you love labs and have a soft spot for an older fella like me, come meet me today! If this dog has been successful in our play groups it is not a guarantee that a dog will be social with other dogs in their home or in public settings. Hello...everyone!! My name is Dansby and I'm here looking for a home, a family, one to call my very own...again. You see, I had a loving home but my lil sister is allergic so with heavy hearts they are wanting me to have another home that will love me as much as they do! I am around 2 years and am very loving, affectionate and ready for playtime. My favorite thing is chasing my squeaky toy and romping around the back yard. I come in at about 45ish lbs. I'm both crate and house trained! We can get right to the fun stuff...right away!! I would love to have an active family that will include me in all their adventures. And I'm good with people both tall and small and other doggies! I would make a great playmate to either a 2 or 4 legged 'sibling' or a terrific sidekick as your one and only!
