Story
(DOB 06/04/2020) Do you need a dog that gets along with kids, cats and other dogs? Then Pepper is your girl! Pepper loves to be by your side and doesn't really think being alone is cool. So much so, bathroom privacy doesn't even mean much to her. She'll be happy to scratch at the closed door notifying you of your accidental error in judgement.  Pepper would be fine as an only dog or to fill out a household with other friendly pups to be her siblings. She would definitely do best in a home and not an apartment, condo or townhome...those shared walls may hear her beautiful bark more often than they may like. She actually spends most of her day relaxing in her foster mom's office, sleeping or chewing on an antler or yak chew. This shiny black onyx of a girl is good with all dogs, kiddos and kitties!! She has that easy-loveable personality. She is already house trained, crate trained, good walking on a leash, loves car rides and the list goes on. No fence; no worries...Pepper is happy to hang with her people and be a bit of a couch potato! What more could you really ask for? Her deep appreciation for her human makes you feel truly cherished. She will only ask for the same devotion and affection for her in return. She does have some seperation anxiety and being with her people really makes her happy. You can expect some initial barking when she is left in her crate, so someone who is home a good amont of the time is best for Pepper. She is happy to sleep on her bed or snuggled up in bed with you, so that's a great option. Pepper has some cute wrinkles that make her extra cute. She is new to our rescue and is being treated for some skin condition. She is doing well and her beautiful black, furry body is filling in nicely. We are currently checking on her spay status and she will be spayed before adoption. She is going to be such an amazing companion - her foster mom just loves her dearly! As part of Pepper’s $300 adoption fee, he is neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Pepper, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2118344##

Story
(DOB 05/24/2016) I'm day dreaming of a home where I can show you my undying loyalty and love. Will you make my dreams a reality!?!? You won't be disappointed in how sweet, affectionate and loveable I can be! Some people have described me as a  senior, but I still feel young at heart! Although I’ve got some gray hair, my body works fine!! Plus there are tons of other benefits, I'm sweet, mellow and you will definitely see my loyalty shine through. I love cuddles and tummy rubs because they make me feel safe and loved. I promise to be your best friend, your confidant, and your constant companion. I deserve a loving home, and I hope that home is with you! I love long walks where I can sniff around and see what’s happening in the neighborhood and park. My foster mom says I’m “good on the leash”, whatever that means. I try not to pull her, and just be gentle with her. I am happiest when we’re taking a nice walk or laying on the couch with her. When she has to leave me, I just go in my crate and sleep until she comes back. Then, she snuggles with me on the couch and wraps me up in my blankie until I fall asleep. I, also, sleep in my crate at night on a soft bed with my blankie – oh so wonderful because it’s warm, super-soft, and safe. A few zoomies in the back yard is always, fun, too, when I’m feeling frisky. I love love love to lay on the deck and soak up the sunshine when it’s not too hot outside any chance I get. I like watching the neighbors walk by. I’m not “barky” as she calls it, but I do let her know when anyone comes in our yard, it’s the least I can do! For that reason, I'd probably be fine in a condo, apartment or townhome lifestyle as long as is family gets him out for potty breaks every 3-4 hours.  I’m going to meet foster mommy’s cats and some children soon, she just wanted me to get adjusted to her new home first..so more to come about me. I prefer to be the only dog in the home; I just kind of like my own space and time. If you think I sound like the kind of guy for you, let's plan to meet soon!  As part of Halo’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Halo, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2131279##

Story
(DOB 05/10/2020) Miss Dixie, the belle of the South! She has a smile that is simply contagious. With her adorable head tilt and undeniable charm, she's sure to win your heart. This girl has the sweetest disposition. She is, also, smart and well behaved. She listens very well and will go into her crate when told. Dixie has very nice manners and is considerate of your eating space and doesn’t beg or bother you for any of your food. She isn't pushy or rushed to be let outside and will come inside the house when called. She loves daily walks in the neighborhood and wants a family that enjoys that too.  While Dixie may have a preference for the company of women, she'll soon warm up to any gentleman who knows how to appreciate her strength of character and beauty. Count on her lovely personality unfurling like a magnolia blossom when she's with her favorite people, reveling in their attention and affection. As far as the youngsters go, children under 10 are a bit too much for Dixie and she prefers the calmer, older children.  A true belle, Dixie is the perfect companion for leisurely car rides through the rolling countryside. She'll calmly gaze out the window, taking in the sights and sounds of the world passing by.  When it comes to socializing, our Dixie appears to favor the company of dashing male dogs over the ladies. She's fascinated by their confident demeanor but still maintains her undeniable grace and poise. Her daily play and fun time can consist of chasing tennis balls while smiling and having a good time. She has that infamous hound-y nose and enjoys chasing rabbits and squirrels. If you are expecting (or not expecting) visitors, Dixie is happy to alert you of friends or neighbors stopping by. Once they come in, she is a very willing participant for belly rubs to entertain and charm her guests. So, if you're seeking a furry companion who embodies southern charm, Miss Dixie is the belle for you. Prepare to be bewitched by her irresistible head tilt, captivated by her charm, and enchanted by her company. Welcome this Southern belle into your life and experience the joy only she can provide! As part of Dixie’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Dixie, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2060669##

Story
(10/11/2021) Are you curious about Stevie Wonder's halo and name? Stevie Wonder got his name because, like his namesake, he cannot see. This sweet boy is completely blind but that does not stop him at all. The wonderful organization, Muffin’s Halo, donated a harness halo to help Stevie acclimate to his new surroundings and use whenever he needs it. OR maybe, just maybe, he has a halo simply because he is an angel!?!? He loves the companionship of people and dogs so a fur-ever home with a friendly furry sibling to hang out with and at least one person home most of the time, is the kind of family Stevie is LOOKING for!! He really loves having other dogs and people around. He is a great buddy to have brighten your days.  This boy is a fun and very happy pup and will need a family that is patient and accommodating to watch over him and keep him out of harms way. A fenced yard or leash walks would be best to keep him safe. Stevie's blindness does not limit him, but he will bump into things until he is use to where everything is in the home. Stevie would likely not be the best choice for a family if you have littles toddling around, he could knock them over unknowingly. He has been to a animal eye specialist that has diagnosed him with a birth defect, that is non-painful. His eyes never fully matured, he likely saw shadows as a pup, and he is now  completely blind. He is crate trained and good in his crate, and he will let you know if he needs to go out.  Adopt sweet Stevie, he’s a good boy who needs a loving patient home and he will reward you with loyalty and laughter! As part of Stevie Wonders’s $300 adoption fee, he will be neutered, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on his monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. If you have questions about this sweet little boy, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Stevie Wonder, you can fill in an online application for him under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2214094##

Story
(DOB 8/12/2024).  Due to Grace’s young age, she has not yet been spayed.  For this reason, we are only considering local placement (within 1 hour drive time of Wake Forest NC).  Hey there, world! I’m Grace, a super-sweet, 5-month-old puppy with a heart full of love.  I’m on a mission to sprinkle affection wherever I go, and I’m pretty darn good at it! I adore my humans and can often be found showering them with puppy kisses (and possibly a few drooly ones, too)!  While I’m friendly with my fellow furry friends, I’m definitely a people pup at heart—I can never have too many snuggles or belly rubs! I’m still learning about toys, but I’m pretty sure they’re magical little things that squeak and bounce. Every day is an adventure as I discover their wonders! When it comes to leash walking, I’m like a pro in training—easy on the leash and always ready for a stroll with my favorite humans. I’m also mastering house training like a little genius! As long as I stick to my schedule (and you remember to take me out), I’m on the fast track to being a well-mannered companion.  I’d do best in a home with a stay-at-home or work-from-home parent because let’s be honest, I can’t get enough of that cozy companionship!  So if you’re looking for a loving, snuggly friend to brighten your days and fill your heart, I’m your girl! Let’s create a lifetime of magical puppy memories together!  As part of Grace’s $325 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives. In addition to the adoption fee, a $100 spay/neuter deposit and puppy spay/neuter agreement will also be required. The deposit will be returned once the puppy is altered.  If you have questions about this sweet little girl, you can email  Dogteam@pawsforlifenc.org.  If you wish to adopt Grace, you can fill in an online application for her under the Adopt a Pet Tab on our website:  www.pawsforlifenc.org. ##2276829##

Story
(DOB 05/25/2024 Rozy is your next adventure buddy! She is beautiful and smart and ready for her family. A chunk of love for sure, Rozy is sturdy and ready to play with other dog siblings in a fenced yard. So if you have those two things, keep reading about all the love and wonders Rozy will bring to your family.  She is full of energy and ready for whatever you have planned. She appreciates a nice long walk, or a short game of fetch. She is still mastering loose leash walking since she is young and still full of happy energy. She’s an energetic and clever puppy, always ready for fun and adventure! With her mischievous nature, she keeps everyone on their toes, but she’s also quick to learn and loves to show off her smarts. While she enjoys her independent moments, she’s always up for playtime and bonding. She has a lot of energy to burn, so her ideal playmates are patient, larger dogs who can match her enthusiasm. She’s sure to bring lots of joy and excitement to any household! Rozy is also good with cats and kids but know these things about her 1) if the cats run, she is up for the chase; it's all fun and games to her and might not be to her new kitty siblings 2) she is big, goofy and playful and could accidently knock over young kids so if there are children in the home they should be older and probably have some basic dog familarity. She is a lady and knows her basic commands like sit, down, and paw. However, she is still very much a puppy and needs a family that is ready for ongoing training in the months to come so she grows into a well behaved adult. She can be a chatter box and likes to use her voice so we think no apartments, condos, or townhomes for Ms. Rozy. Since she is a puppy, Rozy can still find herself getting into trouble...like being a little destructive. Hey chewing and chomping are natural at this time of her life! Rozy is already house trained and is working on her crate training. She barks when put in seems to enjoying being out more than in. Rozy seems to have some seperation anxiety at this time and we will see how she does as she settles into her foster home. She would make an awesome, loving, and fun addition to any family.  As part of Rozy’s $300 adoption fee, she will be spayed, microchipped, up to date on age-appropriate vaccines, and current on her monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives.
