Story
Phoebe is a 6 year old lab mix (our vet said he suspects she is mostly lab with some shepherd mixed in) She is almost 50 lbs., and she’s a very sweet dog that loves to lay around. She is also always up for going outside or for a ride on the golf cart or in your car. She is house broke, crate trained, and trained to the beep of a shock collar. She has never shown any aggression towards people (adults or children), but she occasionally gets into fights with other dogs. She does display some resource aggression, so it would be preferred that she goes to a home where she is the only dog or to someone who is very knowledgeable and able to handle that aspect. She is spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, and has been maintained on heart worm preventive. She has been to the vet regularly since we got her when she was approximately 3-4 months old.

Story
Cyrus is a very happy and expressive dog. He loves to play and run as much as he can. Cyrus is the kind of boy that is always looking for something fun to do, whether it’s to play with squeaky toys, or chase the ball! This handsome goof is great on a leash, once he gets his excitement out, and potty trained. He is such a good boy and would do great with an active family! Please visit our website, www.colonialcapitalhs.org to fill out an application today!

Story
Meet this sweetheart named Echo! She originally came into the shelter June 16, 2021 when her owner could no longer keep her. She was adopted in July 2021 and is now back as of January 24. 2022 when her owner said she had anxiety and could no longer keep her. She was adopted April 2023 and was living a great life until her owner is now having to move and can not keep her. So sad for Echo. It's time for the shuffling to stop and for her to find her REAL FOREVER home. She is now 6 years old, current on shots, spayed, and just a complete love. She's a volunteer favorite and it is sad seeing animals adopted and returned. Likes some male dogs too. Might you have the most perfect loving FOREVER home for sweet Echo?! Visit with her today and see what a great pup she truly is and complete your family by adding her into your family! If you have another dog and are interested in meeting another potential new furry member please bring him or her to the shelter and meet on neutral ground before adopting. No need to shuffle the animals around any more than necessary. Please know that 1 mosquito bite can create heart worms and they can be fatal if not treated. It is VERY important to keep your pets healthy and protected by keeping them on a once a month heart worm and flea/tick prevention. These animals are counting on you as their owner to provide them with lots a love and the proper health care so PLEASE make sure you are aware and prepared before adopting. Owning a pet is an extra expense and responsibility but is so worth every minute and penny you invest in them. They will add lots of joy and unconditional love if given a fair chance. The shelter is open Mon.-Fri. 10-1, 2-5 and Sat. 10-4. Adopt a homeless pet and save a life. If you can not adopt right now come out and volunteer and make a difference in the lives of these animals while they await their FOREVER home.

Story
At only 1 year and 6 months old, Brian is a young, curious, playful, and friendly dog who is good on walks and ready for his adoption day to come. Brian is very charming and a bit sneaky in his antics - he can open doors with latches outside if they're not locked with a clip properly! He is very sweet and has had no issues since arriving at the shelter July 19, 2024 when his owners surrendered him over to animal control. Brian is an incredibly handsome boy who would love to be your loyal companion. Loves playing fetch with a rope toy and will drop it on command too. Smart guy! Needs an owner that will help him settle into new life and help guide him with a little consistency and training. A sweet, charming, and deserving pup!! If you think that Brian would be the perfect fit for your family, please come and meet him today! If you have another dog and are interested in meeting another potential new furry member please bring him or her to the shelter and meet on neutral ground before adopting. Story
Hi there! I'm Marlin, and I am looking for a loving home as a senior dog. (I am currently in a foster home and loving it. I have 2 fur siblings and they have helped me settle in until my real FOREVER home comes. Call the shelter for a meet and greet if you think I may be a good addition to your family.) Though I may be older (9 years young) , I still have a lot of love to give and a long, happy life ahead of me! I am a sweet, affectionate, and friendly pooch who loves to be around my favorite people. I enjoy meeting new people and getting all the love and pets I can...though I can be a little shy initially. I am a laid-back, easy-going kind of guy and I am very curious about the world around me. I love to sniff around and explore my surroundings. Everyone says I am the absolute sweetest and could make a great companion pup for anyone looking a sweet loving loyal pup. I am fully vetted and house trained too. Story
Chuck and his sister Grace came into the shelter December 12, 2024 when their owner had to go to a nursing home and there wasn't anyone to keep them. They are so sad and confused and really hope some nice family or person will fall in love with them and give them back the forever home they know they deserve and miss. These sweeties are 7 years young and fully vetted. They are eachother comfort and when they see eachother is just heart warming when sadness goes to happiness and tail wags! Sweet easy going pups who would love to be adopted together. They have been through a lot and are confused but with a little time and lots of love and affection they will thrive in a home. Maybe you have the most perfect loving FOREVER home for both Chuck and Grace? Visit with them today!
