You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. PLEASE NOTE: If you are on PetFinder or other search site, you do NOT need to introduce yourself.  All dogs on our website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is in the dogs bio below.    FOSTER COMMENTS: Jack is a handsome guy with a shiny coat and the cutest curved tail. In April, he turned 2 years old.  He is a Labrador Retriever mix who is fully grown and weighs 35 lbs. He is an affectionate dog that loves his people and stuffed animals.  Jack is initially timid with strangers but warms up quickly and is so friendly.  He loves other dogs and wants to play!  He is high energy so the other dog has to be able to deal with that.  He is very interested in cats and wants to play so he is best in a home without cats.  His energy level is alot for young children so he is best in a home with older children.   Jack is not a vocal dog but is excitable when he wants to go outside or be fed and will then bark loudly.  Jack is totally housebroken and crate trained.  He is in his crate when I am not home to supervise and at night to sleep.  He goes in his crate easily and I give him a treat each time he goes in. Jack loves other dogs but I think he would be fine as the only dog in the house.  He loves his people and all their attention. He will greet you with a doggie wiggle butt!   Jack would love a fenced yard to get out his energy, but he does fine on a leash if his adopter can make the commitment to walk him several times a day. Warm up your arm because Jack loves to retrieve a ball!  He loves his soft stuffed toys and will carry them around but will chew the stuffing out if not supervised, he's very "puppy" like.  Jack would be a great family dog, he's a great size, in excellent health and very affectionate.  He learns easily because he is treat motivated. He is ready for his forever home.  Could Jack be a new member of your family?  Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.    Applicants must live no further than one hour from Cary NC as our dogs must be seen by a BFPA veterinarian for all medical care prior to adoptions being finalized.  Our foster guardians deliver dogs to their new homes for adoption trials and we do home visits to finalize all adoptions.  We therefore require applicants to live within an hours drive of Cary NC.    INTERESTED IN ADOPTING JACK? You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All Best Friend Pet Adoption dogs require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application. The link to our application is    https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC.    It can also be found at bfpa.org.  FOSTER COMMENTS: Kala is such a sweet puppy who was born on 6/1/24.  She is a cuddly, friendly puppy.  Her momma, Tiki, is a 3 year old 30 lb rat terrier mix. We feel that Kala will be larger and probably at least 50 lbs when full grown.  Her Dad may have been a lab?  Kala is crate trained.  She stays in her crate overnight and when we leave the house without any issues.  She is a typical puppy learning lots of new skills.  Kala is housebroken but needs to be taken outside on a regular schedule.  She will let you know when she needs to go out.   We have a fenced backyard so we have not started training her on a leash.  I think Kala would be fine with either multiple walks or just playing in a yard in her forever home. Kala is very friendly with everyone she meets, young and old.   She also gets along great with other dogs. She loves to play with our three dogs.  We don’t have a cat so not sure how she would do with one in the house. I think Kala would be ok living in an apartment as she is quiet and does not bark when left alone.  She would also be ok if her family worked out of the house and she was left alone or with another dog. Kala is very friendly and loves to play with both dogs and humans of all ages. When she is not being her playful active self, she loves to take naps with you and snuggle. She has been a joy and the other dogs have enjoyed having a new playmate. Kala is packing up her toys already and is getting ready for her next adventure in life!   If you're looking for a loving, loyal, and sweet companion who's always up for fun, Kala might just be the pup for you! &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143   EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Kala's  mother (Tiki) was rescued from a shelter and we didn't know she was pregnant. Her foster came home and discovered Tiki had a litter of four sweet girls waiting for her.  What a surprise! Maybe you can open your home for one of these lucky puppies. They love dogs and all people.      Applicants  should ideally live no more than 60 minutes from Cary NC.  For the perfect home for Kala, we would consider an adoption a bit further than an hour away.  INTERESTED IN ADOPTING KALA ? You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Look at Pretty Lady!  If you are interested in Lady, you will need to submit a Best Friend Pet Adoption application.  The link to our application is in the dogs bio below and at   https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC       Lady is a terrier/ lab mix who is around a year old and weighs 50 lbs.  She is crate trained and housebroken.  Lady gets along with other dogs but does not live with a cat.  So we are not sure how she will do living with a cat.  She has been around children and did fine.  If a child is very young, ideally the child should have experience living with a dog.  Lady does well on her leash walks and doesn't require a fenced yard.  But I am sure she would like one!   What dog doesn't?!   She can have a lot of energy and would welcome living with an active  family who gives her plenty of exercise.  She is not very vocal, so could live in an apartment as long as she got enough exercise and outdoor time.   She loves cuddling with her human and is very loving.  Could Lady come and cuddle in your home?   EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:  Lady had a very rough start in her short life so far.  She was found as a stray and taken in by a kind lady.  She ended up having Parvo and was very sick.  She battled that disease and then found her way into BFPA.  We are now searching for a forever home for Lady. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. All dogs on our website ARE available and require an approved Best Friend Pet Adoption application before you can be considered or meet any of our dogs.  The link to our application is in the dogs bio below or at https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC  .      Herbie loves people.  He gets excited but doesn't bark or jump when people come in the house or when we walk by people outside. He sleeps by himself on the sofa during the day and all night, but loves it best when someone sits with him. He wants to be a lap dog!    Herbie loves food but is very patient when he is fed. He sits and waits for "OK" when we put his food bowl down.  He's pretty gentle taking treats and loves to work food puzzles.    Herbie loves our two 30 min walks.  But he would probably like even more walks.  He goes outside in the yard a few times a day to do his business but he doesn't just hang out in the yard or on the deck very long unless a human is with him.  He is a people focused dog! We think he'd do fine with a house or apt with no fenced yard and a just walks.   Herbie does fine on walks but does need further leash walking skills.  When we pass people he is calm and happy, and he sits on command to let people pass without approaching them. Herbie can be reactive when we see other dogs on walks. We cross the street or move off the trail/sidewalk 6-10 feel to give plenty of room.  He occasionally jumps and barks depeding on the other dog and how close we are. He's making  progress though.     Herbie does not need to be crated. We have left him for 3-4 hours at a time which works fine as long as he's had a walk/meal and is ready to settle for a while.  He is mainly housebroken.   He will stand by the back door and whine to let us know when he needs to go outside.    He is very willing to jump in the car, but reactive to every car he sees. I think he may have chased cars in his prior life, becuase sometimes he starts to be interested on walks - but we can quickly correct this behavior. In the car he stands up, quickly paces from side to side, and barks constantly and loudly at every car that goes by. He should be crated or using a doggie seatbelt system when traveling.     EVERY DOG HAS A STORY:   Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. You MUST submit a Best Friend Pet Adoption application to be considered for Linus. The  application and additional information can be found at bfpa.org or    https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC Meet one of the Charlie Brown Puppies. Linus will be 12 weeks old the first week in January 2025.  Don't you want a puppy for the New Year? He weighs around 17 lbs and might be 55+ when full grown. He is ready to explore what life will bring him in his forever home!!  Could that home be yours??      Linus is a typical fun loving puppy. He lives with 4 other dogs and gets along great with all of them. He is crate trained and sleeps through the night in his crate. Linus is doing great with potty training. He will sit for treats.   Linus lives with a cat that he basically ignores. He loves everyone.  He is such a mellow, calm puppy.  Any family would be lucky to have this puppy! Puppies this young may not be appropriate for very young children since they will  play bite and nibble on hands and feet when given the opportunity.    EVERY DOG HAS A STORY: Linus had a rough beginning to life.  He along with his 5 siblings and momma were brought into a rural shelter when he was only 2 weeks old.  The momma dog was in such poor health, she had to sadly be euthanized. A rescue group took the puppies and bottle fed them until they could were old enough to move into Best Friend Pet Adoption.  Linus is in a loving foster home now and is looking forward to a much better life.   Some of the information contained in this biography includes approximations based on our expertise and is not guaranteed.   ADOPTING A YOUNG PUPPY FROM BFPA: Ideally adopters should live no further than a 30-mile radius from the Triangle area of North Carolina, as you must be close enough for us to meet all the medical procedures we cover before final adoption. We may consider adoptions that are within an hours drive IF the adopter is willing to come to the Raleigh/Cary area for all medical care until the puppy is neutered at around 6 months of age.   Puppies can be vocal when left alone and shared walls are sometimes an issue. So we prefer to place puppies into single family homes.  INTERESTED IN ADOPTING LINUS? If so, please fill out our dog adoption application by copying and pasting this link in a new browser window:  https://toolkit.rescuegroups.org/of/f?c=WHMSYCNC   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 24, 2024, 11:12 pm

Meet Cyprus! This sweetie originally came from the mountains right before the hurricane hit. He made it out just in time! He has such a playful personality, and loves to hang with both canines and humans. So far we've seen an easy-going, go with the flow play style with this guy - so he should fit in well with your pack or be a great first dog! He does appear to be housetrained already, so you can forego the messy puppy stage with this dapper dude!Adoption fee of $150 includes neuter, microchip, vaccines, deworming, heartworm testing, and heartworm/flea/tick preventionApply here: https://2pawsup.org/applications/adoption-application/November 18, 2024, 1:39 am
