Story
Foster notes, 12/5/23:Rockafella is a good boy. He is a senior guy who has done well to meet and continue to greet the neighborhood children. He is anxious around unknown people and pets. So far, I have been unable to do much about his dislike of cats. It seems to be one of the only things that set him off. He takes 2 walks per day (am and pm), and gets to go out off leash in the back yard as often as he asks. He is arthritic in his joints and cannot jump, so he doesn`t get on the house furniture because of this. I have a ramp for him to get in the car. He doesn`t seem to mind riding in the car. He does get anxious about first time adventures. He does not know how to play with toys, but he will sit for a long time for a good petting. He is a smart dog and a fast learner at most times (except for cats). No house training was required for Rockafella! He knows `come` and will ask to go out. I find his behaviors easy to read when he needs or wants something. He is a quiet dog and barks only at cats, alerts me that he wants to come in, and at unknown strangers and reactive dogs on our walks. He has learned to ignore and walk past yappy dogs in our neighborhood. He does not pull on leash and is mostly a loose leash walker (slow to medium pace). I`ve had no problems leaving him at home alone for up to 4 hours. He likes to go out as soon as I get home. The only time he has gotten into things - he was hungry and was rooting for food. And that was only the first week I had him. Can`t leave bagged dogfood on the floor where he can get to it! He sleeps all through the night. He is developing cataracts. He can see but not clearly at a distance . He will stand and stare at something. If it moves he may lunge after it. If it doesn`t move, he will move on. This can be funny when he stares at a bag or toy, only to discover it isn`t a cat he`s looking at. He also will miss verbal commands, so his hearing may not be 100%. He doesn`t react to thunder or fireworks. His nose works fine! Rockafella would be a wonderful untrained service dog for a vet or older adult. He loves to be around me and will just either sit facing me (he wants something) or sit with his back to me(wants to be petted). Otherwise, he is sleeping. He doesn`t like to be outside for long periods.

Story
Meet Twinkie, aka `Twinkle Toes,` the bundle of joy who’s ready to steal your heart—and your snacks!Twinkie had a blast on his Dog Day Out adventure. He kicked off the day by watching ducks at the lake (we think he was planning his next move), went for a quick run (because, energy!), and made his way to Elon campus, saying hi to EVERYONE. The best part? His little stomping feet dance right before treat time—hence the nickname Twinkle Toes! Here’s the scoop: Twinkie is as lovey as he is energetic, totally aced the leash game, loved the car ride, and was super affectionate with everyone he met. He’s also a toy fanatic. If you’re looking for a buddy who’s down for adventures and cuddles, Twinkie is your guy! Adopt Twinkie and get ready for lots of love, fun, and those adorable treat dances!

Story
Foster notes, 7/14/24:Dixie gets along great with everyone. She is calm and submissive with my great grandchildren and neighbors, but only after getting used to them. Before that she barks some, and then finally goes to her bed or under my feet. She`s very protective of me. She watches the deer and squirrels in the back yard.I told her they were my babies, so she doesn`t chase them. She is leash trained and walks and potty on a leash. She runs free in the back yard which has a small forest. She is great by herself. Goes to her bed and doesn`t leave it until I get home. Usually 3 hours. She sleeps all night without having to potty and doesn`t need to be crated. Dixie can be extremely stubborn and hard headed when her mind is set on something. She will not listen at that point!Otherwise, she is calm, patient, and will get along with anybody after she accepts them.New Foster Notes; 6/14/24:Dixie is house trained. She can go from 9pm-7am. She goes to her bed when I leave and stays there until I return. She walks good on a leash. She plays in the house and outside in the back yard. She knows her boundaries. I stay outside with her. She knows what I want her to do. I say go to bed and she goes. Sit down, and let`s eat and many more but not heel, sit up, we are working on give paw. She would do great in any type of homes after she feels comfortable around the person. She is very protective of me, so whoever gains her trust will be protected.She:-Is cuddly and affectionate -Walks well on leash (No or low amount of pulling) -Has met and did well with other dogs -Chases cats/small animals -Does well with small children -Enjoys car rides -Is potty trained-Treat MotivatedNew foster notes, 2/21/24:Dixie is almost finished with her heartworm treatment and is doing well but isn`t allowed to get excited or play too much for another couple of weeks. She`s sweet but doesn`t want anyone but me to take her to potty. She loves my great grandkids who are 2 years to 10 years old. She barks when anyone comes to the house but will stop after about 2 minutes when she starts feeling comfortable. She looks out the storm door at other dogs walking by and will bark. She is house trained and will stand in front of you and just look until you ask her if she wants to go potty. I`m trying to train her to get her leash. She knows different words like sit, come here, get your donut(toy), let`s go, let`s eat, and many

Story
Dog Day Out, 7/17/24:Shiloh went to PetSmart to get a new bone, got a “pup cup” from Starbucks, walked the Cates Farm Trail in Mebane, went for a ride in a golf cart and enjoyed the AC at home. Very snuggly and gentle dog, wanted to be with my daughter wherever she was. Not reactive at all to other dogs at PetSmart. Knows sit, went potty outside. Very sweet and loves his tennis ball! Shiloh was the perfect pup: very well-behaved, gentle with treats and content to lay on the couch and snuggle with you. Only went potty outside and knows “sit”. He loves car rides, had no trouble going up and down stairs. We have cats, but did not get to see any interaction as they stayed hidden. He didn’t bother their food bowls or litter boxes.Foster notes, 2/27/24:Shiloh loves to please! He’s a snuggly sweetheart with high energy. He would do best in a home with a backyard. He is treat motivated and when he has enough time to play & run outside, he’s a very good boy who will settle down to calmly chew a bone. Shiloh is:- Great at riding in cars - Knows Sit - Housetrained - Can quietly sleep in his crate overnight for 8 hrs (after a very small amount of whining) - Timid around doors & going downstairs- Very respectful to other dogs & people on walks (even if other dogs are barking & hyper!) - Shiloh likes to jump up & “hug” his people- Very quiet, only barking rarely for communication purposes.

Roe is super sweet we have had her for years. Unfortunately our daughter developed some allergies that can't be controlled with the dogs in the house. Roe is marked special needs because she leaks pee sometimes when she lays down as they nicked her while they were spaying her.

Story
We got Tony when he was 3 months old from a breeder and we will soon be celebrating his 1st birthday in Nov'2024. It was heart breaking for us to come to this but we got into a really busy work/school schedule that we are unable to give all the attention that he really needs. We are looking for a really good home for our Tony who can give him all the time and attention he needs. He is a great dog, really sweet and loves to be with kids (always around my daughter all the time).

Story
This is Rigby he is a 9 month old Lab/Husky mix, he's a really sweet puppy but we definitely didn't know what we were doing when we got him but we haven't been giving him the attention that he deserves we live in a small apartment and he's just big and has Lots of Puppy energy. He's a little stubborn but he wouldn't hurt a fly. If he's going to be with another dog it needs to be as playful as him because he has become overwhelming for our oldest dog. Rigby loves to go on big walks and he can play for hours. He just needs a better home and life then what we can give him.
