Story
Meet Rex! Rex is an approximately 1 and a half year old mix breed pup. He has an absolutely stunning brindle coat. The beautiful tiger striped pattern on his back is amazing. Rex is a friendly boy who loves to be around people. He is a great snuggler and loves belly scratches. Some of his favorite things to do are playing catch, chasing squirrels, eating ice cubes and watching Animal Planet. Rex has done well with the other dogs he’s met at LHS. When Rex was young he was not treated very nicely. Because of this he gets anxious when there are loud noises or people yelling. He needs a calm and patient owner that will help him feel confident. We are suggesting older kids for Rex. If you would like to give Rex the life he deserves, please fill out our online application or stop in during open hours. Wednesday 6-8pm or Saturday 12-3p.

Story
Amber arrived at NCCR on 4/6/25, rescued after being dumped and abandoned locally, along with two other dogs. She is a young adult female, possibly Lab/ Bulldog mix, full grown at approximately 50 lbs. Amber is understandably shy with people at first, but she warms up with sweet talk & treats. If you think you might be interested in adopting, your first step should be to complete an  Adoption Application found at caninerescue.org. *After you have completed your application, you will get a confirmation that we have received your application. It takes a lot of time to process the applications, so we ask for your patience while we do so. If you see that the dog you were interested in has been adopted it means there were many applications for that dog and we did not get as far as processing your application before a home was found. We welcome you to apply again if you see another dog that interests you.   If you have a question, please email your question to adoptions@caninerescue.org. It is much easier and quicker for us to respond by email as we receive many phone calls each day. We do adopt out of state, however we do not transport or ship dogs. Potential adopter must be able and willing to travel to the Rescue to meet the dog they are interested in. *PLEASE double check all of the phone numbers that you provide as if they are incorrect, we will be unable to process your application. Please also let your references know that someone from NCCR will be calling them. Most adoption team members call from their personal phone so advise your references that there may be an unknown number or a private number calling them. NYS Registration #RR028

Story
Meet Sebastian, a big, handsome hunk of dog with an even bigger heart. This gentle giant has a presence that turns heads, but it’s his sweet, soulful personality that really steals the show. He’s the kind of dog who leans into you for love, soaking up attention like it’s his favorite hobby. Sebastian enjoys the simple pleasures in life: a good walk to stretch his long legs, time to play and burn off some energy, and then a nice cozy spot to relax and be close to his people. He’s affectionate, loyal, and thrives on companionship, making him a wonderful partner for someone looking for a devoted best friend. Because of his size, Sebastian would do best with a family ready to embrace life with a big dog—one who understands that “lap dog” is a state of mind, not a size requirement.
