Story
This dog is part of our shelter outreach program where we take dogs from overcrowded shelters in hopes of finding them a forever home here! We generally do not have much background info on them and cannot guarantee they are housebroken.  They are all up to date on vaccines, spayed/neutered and microchipped. Cash is a 1½-year-old, 35 lb Lab mix with the sweetest soul...and a story that deserves a second look. He has a deformity in his front leg from an old injury that healed on its own. It may not look perfect, but here’s the thing…Cash doesn’t care. He runs, plays, and loves life just like any other young dog. It doesn’t slow him down, and it certainly doesn’t define him. What does define Cash? His joyful spirit, his resilience, and how deeply he loves his people. Too often, dogs who look a little different get overlooked. Passed by. Left behind. But Cash is proof that “different” doesn’t mean “less than”, it means special. He’s high energy and would thrive in an active home with a fenced-in yard where he can stretch his legs and enjoy being a dog. He’s dog-friendly, crate trained, and already on his way to becoming an amazing canine companion with continued training. All Cash needs is someone willing to see past his leg…and straight into his heart. Don’t let something cosmetic keep you from meeting your best friend.*Per JSAC policy, puppies and kittens under 6 months will not be adopted to families with children under the age of 6 years.April 21, 2026, 11:28 am

Story
Ranger is back… and he doesn’t understand why.  Just last year, Ranger left our shelter as a happy puppy with his whole life ahead of him. Now, at only 1 ½ years old, he’s back - and completely heartbroken. Through no fault of his own, Ranger lost his home. His owner loved him, but long work hours and financial struggles made it impossible to give him the time he needs. And now… Ranger sits in his kennel, scared and confused, waiting for someone who isn’t coming back. Ranger is incredibly sweet and affectionate, the kind of dog who just wants to be close to his people, soaking up love and giving it right back.  He is young, energetic and strong.   This handsome Lab mix is 68 lbs of love and loyalty. He’s housebroken, smart, and knows his commands. He walks nicely on leash with his training collar and has done well with other dogs—he even went to doggy daycare! He likes kids and truly just wants to be part of a family again. But shelter life is not for Ranger. He is struggling. He doesn’t like the kennel, and you can see it in his eyes—he’s searching, waiting, hoping. Ranger needs a home where:Someone is around most of the day - not a fan of being aloneThere’s a fenced yard for him to enjoyNo crating (he’s not comfortable being confined like that) He has so much love to give, and right now he just needs someone to show him he’s not been forgotten. Please…if you’ve been thinking about adopting, or know someone who might be the right fit, Ranger needs you now. Let’s get this boy out of the shelter and back where he belongs, home. *Per JSAC policy, puppies and kittens under 6 months will not be adopted to families with children under the age of 6 years.April 21, 2026, 11:28 am

Story
Meet Jax, an almost five-year-old Lab mix with the sweetest face and an even sweeter heart. He came in as a stray wearing a collar with his birthday on it, but no one ever came to claim him. With his November birthday around the corner, we’re hoping he’ll get the best gift of all—a real home. Jax is a total lovebug who lights up when he sees his people. He enjoys walks, has great manners, and knows his basic commands. He’s a fetch pro, loves attention, and just wants to be part of a family. He’d do best in a home without cats or young kids, but he’s friendly with female dogs and eager to please. Jax is up to date on everything, neutered, and ready to start his next chapter—hopefully with you. If interested, please apply at pittiesandpals.com. Many other dogs need our help, please consider donating or sponsoring a dog, if possible. 100% of all money received from adoption fees and donations goes directly back to support saving other dogs through Pitties and Pals Rescue. Pitties and Pals is a 501c(3) non-profit and we are 100 percent volunteer based. Please consider donating. We appreciate your support. Visit pittiesandpals.com.

Story
Leo, Lab mix, Tan, Male neutered, 7 years old Leo is a very sweet, timid boy.  He is very nervous and anxious in the shelter environment, and he would do best with a family that can give him the time he needs to become comfortable in his new home.  Leo seems to get along well with other dogs, but does seem afraid of cats.  He would do best with children over the age of 15 years old, as younger kids may be too much for him.   **This dog is at the Ocean County Animal Facility North located at 615 Fremont Ave, Jackson NJ (off of Hope Chapel Rd).  All dogs are spayed/neutered, micro-chipped, and have age appropriate shots.** To adopt our dogs you must come to the facility with your entire family, including dogs, to meet with our staff and the dog you are interested in. We are open to the public seven days a week between the hours of 1pm and 4pm.   Please call our facility at 732-657-8086 for more information about any of our pets! April 21, 2026, 3:13 pm

Story
Nyla is a 4 month old puppy, possibly a Lab/Pit mix, who came to us from an inner city animal control facility. She is a little shy at first but very sweet and just a baby who needs a safe place to land. She has received her first round of vaccines and will need to finish her vaccine series. She will also be microchipped and spayed. As a young puppy she will need a family ready for all the typical puppy training including housebreaking, crate training, and learning basic commands. She should not be left alone for long periods of time. Nyla is looking for a patient home to help her grow into a happy, confident companion. If interested, please apply at pittiesandpals.com.
