Story
Copper is a medium size dog, great temperament and loves people. He was adopted from a rescue in Nebraska in May. Copper has been neutered and is 7 months old. He is house trained and crate trained. He loves to play and spend time outdoors. We are looking for a new home for Copper because we just don’t have the time to spend with him and he loves interaction and going for walks. He is super smart and loves treats for being a good boy. Adoption fee is negotiable, we want Copper to find the best forever home.

Story
We got Oliver on this site but with three kids it’s been too much with my husband working so much. He is great with kids and is house trained. He will be a little shy at first but is so sweet and loyal. He’s a little over a year old. Loves chewing on sticks, play fetch (sometimes doesn’t want to bring the ball back) he learns fast and knows simple commands. My husband was training him and we just don’t have the time needed to fully train him.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org) 'Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?' for additional information.River is a shy, but affectionate girl with gorgeous soulful eyes, who enjoys going on walks. She doesn't pull and walks great on the leash. She loves going for walks with the other dogs in her foster home. When River arrived, she was petrified and scared of just about everything. She has come a long way since, and is doing great. She gets lots of confidence from being around other the other dogs in her foster home, and having patient humans that are gentle and are able to allow extra time for regular activities , as everything takes a little bit longer with River, due to her being timid. That said, with love and encouragement, she is a fantastic girl who loves you and thrives. Her ideal home will be with a kind, patient adopter who is home a lot, who is willing to go slow with her, and allow plenty of time for her to adjust to her new home. River can be a little bit scared of traffic noises (cars, trucks, motorcycles driving by when she's in the backyard), but she now accepts them for the most part on walks…because she loves walks! River is a little nervous about riding in the car, but does OK and keeps getting better about it, especially when she has dog buddies with her along! River is lovely girl, very sweet, friendly and docile, never a hint of aggression. River is very food-motivated and loves chew toys, food and treats. She enjoys the company of other dogs, and really enjoys playing with other playful dogs. She LOVES to play chase in the backyard and do zoomies with the more playful dog in her foster home. She also likes to lay next to foster dad while he watches TV. She will sleep next to you in bed if allowed, or quietly in her crate if asked to. River is very social. She loves to be wherever you are in the house, usually under the table at your feet, or on the furniture if allowed. And she loves being around her doggy friends. River is shy but gets confidence from other dogs and follows their lead. Because of that, her ideal home will have a dog buddy.  River is a sweet loving girl who doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She loves all dogs, and every human she meets. Anyone that will give her a treat is her friend for life. Her favorite place to go is the local Hardware store because all the ladies know her, love her, and give her treats! River loves hugs, pets, belly rubs and any other human contact. She is docile and is the easiest dog ever to have her nails trimmed. She shows absolutely no resistance and would let you do anything to her. She is very trusting. She is a nice dog buddy and playmate to the other dogs in her foster home. If you are patient, and are looking for a happy, quiet, loving, active, sweet girl who just needs to be shown how to be more confident and realize that she is safe, River is the dog for you! The adoption fee for River is $275, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.  We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped.  Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption  for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply. Like any of our dogs,  River would make a great addition to an active home that will provide the love, structure, good leadership, activity and mental stimulation that her breed needs. Because of that, River’s ideal owners will have prior GSD, or other herding breed experience. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, please remember that you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings, in order to provide sufficient stimulation, ward off boredom, and work on leash skills, and manners.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please review the information in the 'About Us', 'Important Considerations' and 'Adopt' sections on our website menu, as it contains useful information about the breed, adoption fees, the adoption process and our requirements, and how meeting the dogs works.November 9, 2024, 12:48 pm

Story
Hey! Danny (DOB 9/21/2020) here! I am Lab/Staffordshire Terrier mix who's looking for a new, active home. I have been with my foster family for a while and whereas they are pretty wonderful, I am ready to leave the nest and find my own place. I am almost 3 years old now and have outgrown the puppy-mouthing phase but still love some one-on-one snuggle time on the couch with my favorite human. My crate is a cool place to hang out in when my foster fam can’t take me in the car with them, especially when I have my special bone or a puzzle to work on to keep me busy. My foster dog siblings are cool to hang out with so a dog brother or sister would be okay although being an only (dog) child would be okay too. I'm okay with the felines if they leave me alone. And I am a little nervous meeting new people and dogs so apartment life still isn’t meant for me. New things can be a little scary but continual self-improvement is a lifelong goal of mine so who wants to learn some new things together? For example, I have learned car rides are fun and there are these things called drive throughs where people hand you yummy treats. I would love to find someone to explore some new places (i.e. drive throughs) with. I love to explore new places on walks too so we can get some exercise in together after visiting the drive throughs. Who's up for some new adventures? Before applying to adopt Danny, you need to be familiar with your local breed-specific legislation regarding Pit Bulls. Applicants must live within 50 miles of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area.  The suggested adoption donation for Danny is $250. We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes.  Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  If this pet is not spayed or neutered at the time of adoption due to limited vetting availability, a voucher will be given to the adopter for a free spay/neuter procedure at Val Verde Animal Hospital. Spay/neuters completed elsewhere will be reimbursed $80/dog or $55/cat once proof of alteration has been received by Muddy Paws. Alterations are required for all Muddy Paws adoptions. The adoption contract states alters must be done within ONE month of the adoption date or the adopter will be in breach of the contract. Adopters are required to provide proof of alteration to Muddy Paws Rescue immediately following the procedure. Thank you in advance for your compliance. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page.  ##1107116##

Story
Hurley is a Chocolate Lab, b. Aug 2010.  Hurley is a great family dog and gets along with everyone.  He has lived in an apartment all his life, but loves to be outdoors and would really enjoy a yard with room to roam.  He loves tennis balls, bones and toys.  He does good with other animals.  Can you provide Hurley with his furever home? The suggested adoption donation for Hurley is $300, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $300,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. From time to time owners find a new furever home for their pets outside of Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue, and there is a delay in removing them from our site. We apologize if the Courtesy Post you apply to adopt is unavailable for adoption. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks, and a Home Visit (Virtual in some cases) during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue Inc. ##1808163##

Story
Terrified in a bustling kennel, quivering in a corner, bewildered by the situation, stood the endearing baby Armani. His moments seemed numbered, nearing what could have been his last hours. Thankfully, a compassionate Muddy Paws Volunteer intervened just in time, bringing him into her care. Serendipitously, luck was on his side. Born in July 2022, Armani is a Lab Mix now seeking a forever home filled with unconditional love. While initially timid and wary of new faces, he warms up quickly with patience and affection. Armani, the epitome of cuteness and affection, craves the company of his humans, whether snuggled on the sofa or frolicking outdoors with his toys. His happiness knows no bounds as long as he is by your side. Given his timid nature and ongoing journey to regain trust in the world, Armani would thrive in a child-free environment, preferably where he is the center of attention, and a fenced yard would offer him a secure space to release his energy. Preferring to be the sole canine, Armani revels in being the ruler of the roost. He displays remarkable intelligence, making great strides in his training, nearly mastering commands like Sit and Lay Down. To help ensure Armani has the smoothest transition into his furever home, he will require a couple of sessions with one of our Positive Reinforcement/Relationship-based Trainers. Lucky for him, every dog adopted out through Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue comes with lifetime free behavioral training with one of our Positive Reinforcement/Relationship-based Trainers! The suggested adoption donation for Armani has been partially covered by a group of animal lovers who want to see Armani in a safe, loving home, his adjusted adoption donation is $150. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life.
