Story
Ozzie is AKC registered and a loving pup. He is always ready for any adventure and wants to be a part of the party, wherever you go. He does well with other dogs at the park, but plays a bit rough with my 8yr old female yellow lab. He is house trained. Ozzie is full of energy, sometimes too much for himself to manage. He wants to learn new tasks and tricks, but with my health issues, I haven't been able to provide him adequate training and time overall. He needs a fully fenced yard to run and significant attention to ease his energy. He will snuggle with you any time and loves to nap next to you. It pains me to see him go as he truly is a great dog, I'm just not able to give him the attention he needs. I possess his AKC registered paperwork. He is due for shots soon and may want to consider neutering him if you aren't going to breed.

Story
Ryder has a zest for life and a heart full of love. He is truly a GEM of a dog! He is a phenominal athlete and no doubt would be a champion at search & rescue, agility, fly ball, dock diving, disc competition, or anything that involves retrieving! He is off-the-charts smart and motivated, no matter the distractions. Once playtime is over, he also displays a calm independence. Ryder loves rough-and-rowdy playgroups, always keeping his cool, but he’s equally content relaxing on his own or bunking with a buddy. He is kennel trained, housetrained, and has great manners, making him a joy to have around. Ryder enjoys the company of other dogs in his foster home and has a special fondness for water adventures, whether it’s splashing in a pool or trying water jumps. While he hasn’t been tested with cats, his easygoing and playful nature suggests he could adapt well. He has done great with kids he's met at our events and will play fetch all day long. Ryder is looking for an active family with a yard to explore and plenty of love to share. Loyal and always up for a challenge, Ryder is ready to be your adventure partner for life! Ryder was found running along a highway with two other dogs and impounded in rural Missouri. He was never reclaimed after months of waiting. He came to Dolly's Legacy so he could start a new chapter in his life. Ryder is a Black Lab/Border Collie mix who was was born approximately 8-6-23 and weighs 45 lbs. He is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, given flea/tick preventative, dewormed, tested heartworm negative and started on heartworm prevention. Adoption fee is $400 to help offset the many expenses we have for vetting costs. We rely strictly on adoption fees and donations to continue to save the lives of orphaned & abandoned pets; 100% goes towards their care. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.German Shepherd dogs, as well as the other herding breeds that we have in rescue, are highly active, energetic, working breeds. They require considerable vetting, exercise, socialization, training, leadership and mental stimuli in order to be well-adjusted, well-balanced, and well-mannered dogs. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings in order to work on his/her leash skills, manners, and social skills. These breeds make great additions to active families who will pamper them, but who will also work with them, as they are smart dogs who need leadership, structure, plenty of activity and mental stimulation. If you are new to German Shepherds (and other herding breeds), please research the breed to make sure this is the dog for you. We ask that you consider the time and financial commitment that your German Shepherd (or other herding breed) dog will require before applying for one. Please review the section on our website (www.heartlandgsrescue.org) 'Is a HUGS Dog Right for You?' for additional information.River is a shy, but affectionate girl with gorgeous soulful eyes, who enjoys going on walks. She doesn't pull and walks great on the leash. She loves going for walks with the other dogs in her foster home. When River arrived, she was petrified and scared of just about everything. She has come a long way since, and is doing great. She gets lots of confidence from being around other the other dogs in her foster home, and having patient humans that are gentle and are able to allow extra time for regular activities , as everything takes a little bit longer with River, due to her being timid. That said, with love and encouragement, she is a fantastic girl who loves you and thrives. Her ideal home will be with a kind, patient adopter who is home a lot, who is willing to go slow with her, and allow plenty of time for her to adjust to her new home. River can be a little bit scared of traffic noises (cars, trucks, motorcycles driving by when she's in the backyard), but she now accepts them for the most part on walks…because she loves walks! River is a little nervous about riding in the car, but does OK and keeps getting better about it, especially when she has dog buddies with her along! River is lovely girl, very sweet, friendly and docile, never a hint of aggression. River is very food-motivated and loves chew toys, food and treats. She enjoys the company of other dogs, and really enjoys playing with other playful dogs. She LOVES to play chase in the backyard and do zoomies with the more playful dog in her foster home. She also likes to lay next to foster dad while he watches TV. She will sleep next to you in bed if allowed, or quietly in her crate if asked to. River is very social. She loves to be wherever you are in the house, usually under the table at your feet, or on the furniture if allowed. And she loves being around her doggy friends. River is shy but gets confidence from other dogs and follows their lead. Because of that, her ideal home will have a dog buddy.  River is a sweet loving girl who doesn't have a mean bone in her body. She loves all dogs, and every human she meets. Anyone that will give her a treat is her friend for life. Her favorite place to go is the local Hardware store because all the ladies know her, love her, and give her treats! River loves hugs, pets, belly rubs and any other human contact. She is docile and is the easiest dog ever to have her nails trimmed. She shows absolutely no resistance and would let you do anything to her. She is very trusting. She is a nice dog buddy and playmate to the other dogs in her foster home. If you are patient, and are looking for a happy, quiet, loving, active, sweet girl who just needs to be shown how to be more confident and realize that she is safe, River is the dog for you! The adoption fee for River is $275, all of which goes back into offseting our high-cost vetting expenses and rescuing more dogs.  We are a 100% volunteer-run rescue group and rely on adoption fees and donations to continue saving lives. Adoption fees include spay/neuter, current on age-appropriate vaccinations, fecal, deworming, flea/tick and heartworm preventative, heartworm tested if old enough (and treated if positive), and microchipped.  Please visit http://heartlandgsrescue.rescuegroups.org/info/adoption  for more information about our adoption process and requirements, and to apply. Like any of our dogs,  River would make a great addition to an active home that will provide the love, structure, good leadership, activity and mental stimulation that her breed needs. Because of that, River’s ideal owners will have prior GSD, or other herding breed experience. Even if you exercise and play with your dog daily in your fenced yard, please remember that you MUST still take your dog out on daily walks and outings, in order to provide sufficient stimulation, ward off boredom, and work on leash skills, and manners.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet. Please review the information in the 'About Us', 'Important Considerations' and 'Adopt' sections on our website menu, as it contains useful information about the breed, adoption fees, the adoption process and our requirements, and how meeting the dogs works.November 9, 2024, 12:48 pm

Story
It is with a heavy heart that we have to rehome our sweet dog, Remi. We are moving out of state, and unfortunately, the new place we are renting doesn’t allow pets. On top of that, with the upcoming move, we won’t have the time to give her the attention and care she deserves. Remi is a playful, loving pitbull-lab mix who loves to cuddle and has a ton of energy and she runs around and plays hard. She is full of personality and has so much love to give. However, she is not the best with cats, so she would do better in a home without them. It is a tough decision, but we are hoping to find her the perfect forever home where she can continue to thrive.

Story
Serena is a 2.5 year old gorgeous labradoodle weighing around 52-54 pounds. She is black with stunning brown highlights and full of love! Serena came in to rescue with a sore ear and limited vet care. Upon arrival, it was clear she was a lover not a fighter, though her approach to all things seemed fearful. But not anymore!   With a little encouragement and love, she has grown into a dog who can handle most situations with ease, if given the right guidance. She’s very sensitive to how her person is feeling. If you’re scared, she’s scared.  Serena does require a few things to be successful in her forever home. She needs exercise and if her adopter has a yard for her to run in, they’ll need a fence taller than 4 feet, as she has jumped a chain link fence to go play with other dogs and kids in her previous home. She requires consistency from her people as she is very bright and views your uncertainty as a need for her to run the show. (No one wants that.)   Her foster mom believes she can become whomever she is guided to become, so an experienced owner of smart breeds will do best with her (or an adopter willing and able to go to training alongside her). We would also like her to go into a home with a 6 foot fence. If you are able to give Serena love and guidance, she will give you companionship and love beyond! Please apply at www.HavenAnimalRescueNebraska.org   ADOPTION DONATION: $400   *ALL dogs must be adopted as inside pets! They are updated with age appropriate vaccinations, altered (she is currently in heat), Heartworm tested, microchipped and fecal tested.  PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility.
