Story
Hi there! I'm Pup, your future best friend. I'm an adult, but I've got the spirit of a pup! My heart is full of sweetness and friendliness, and I'm always ready to play. I've got smarts, too. I'm also energetic and love to go for walks or runs. I'm always up for a game of tug-of-war or chase. I can't wait to meet you and bring a whole lot of joy into your life. Why should you adopt me? Well, I promise to fill your days with laughter, love, and plenty of fun. Let's make memories together! If you're interested in adopting me, fill out an adoption application online at www.polkcountyhumanesociety.org/adopt where you will also find a link to reserve me for an appointment. Some pets are in foster homes or may already have an appointment scheduled, so the appointment is important to make sure I will be available to meet you when you come. Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2194580##

Story
Hello there, I'm Roman. The people who brought me to the humane society said my friend Feller and I were left behind. Therefor, I might be a little shy at first, but give me a moment and you'll see my sweet, gentle soul. I've always been the loyal type, sticking by those I care about through thick and thin. My intelligence is something that often surprises people. I can figure out puzzles quickly and I'm always eager to learn new tricks. I've had to be smart to navigate the twists and turns of life. Now, I'm looking for a new family, one that will appreciate my loyalty, gentleness, and intelligence. I promise to be the best friend you've ever had. Will you give me a chance? ##2236177##

Story
Hi, I'm Yadi, a 3.5-year-old, 85 lb male Lab mix with a nice balance of calmness and playfulness.    I grew up in a home with a family, but they had some life changes and they’re unable to care for me any longer.  So I'm ready to start interviewing for the job of my forever family.  I’m a pretty chill pup most of the time. I love to chew on my bones or nurse on my blanket to self sooth. But when it’s playtime, I come alive! I absolutely love playing fetch and tug-of-war. I'm great at bringing the ball back and I've almost mastered the art of dropping it so the humans can throw it again. I do play a bit rough for I would due best in a home with older children, no young kids as I may bowl them over. I’m already trained to “sit” and “down,” and I’m working on walking nicely on a leash but get excited when I see other dogs and can pull.   I’m also potty trained and don't need to be crated as I don't misbehave when my people are not around.   If you’re looking for a loyal companion and a fun-loving boy, I might just be your perfect match! How comfy is your couch? If you are interested, complete the  Adoption Application  on our website at  www.NeedyPaws.org  and we will contact you.  Adopters must live within an hour’s drive of St. Louis, MO. Yadi’s adoption fee is $275.00, which includes up-to-date vaccinations, heartworm testing and preventative, spay/neuter and microchip. "Hey there! I’m Max, an 8-month-old, 45 pound black Lab with a heart as big as my playful spirit. I’m crate trained, house trained, and always up for a game of tug-of-war or a round of fetch (bonus points if you throw it far!). When it comes to food and treats, I’m not picky – if it’s edible, I’m interested!  Rub behind my ears or on my belly, and I’m yours forever. I’m looking for someone who’s ready to share adventures, teach me the ropes of life, and, most importantly, offer unconditional love. Let’s make some memories and fetch our happily ever after!"   Application: www.4paws4rescue.comNovember 20, 2024, 7:34 am

Story
America was found by the side of a busy highway with her two pups by a former employee of Country Acres. When America first came to CAR, she was malnourished, COVERED in ticks and fleas and very dehydrated. She was so sweet and trusted us immediately; she willingly laid down, rolled on her back in the bathtub as we picked off every single tick. America knew she was FINALLY in good hands. America is WONDERFUL with other dogs and is also kid friendly. She is both fun-loving and smart, and will be a quick study for basic training. Please call CAR at 636-227-1919 to inquire about the adoption process and how to make America apart of your loving family!

Story
Wow what a handsome lab and a sweetheart also. RJ is 6 years old. I can be a bit shy but warm up quickly. I am also keeping my kennel clean. I spent some time in a foster home where they learned that he is house trained, crate trained, loves putting his head in your lap when sitting on the couch. He loves to chase stuffy toys, balls. He takes treats nicely and doesn't mind a bath. Loves being right by his people! The adoption fee for adult dogs, seven months and older, is $250. All pets are microchipped, up to date on vaccines, and will be altered prior to adoption. If you are interested in meeting a dog, please stop by the shelter during open hours. Dogs may be in a foster home, therefore scheduling an appointment is recommended. If you have an existing dog at home, we recommend bringing it along to meet your possible new family member.helpingstrays.org
