Story
Cooper is a very sweet energetic puppy. He’s a good boy but he doesn’t fit with our family. We have little kids and can’t provide him with as much attention. We have a senior female dog who is not spayed and he is not neutered. There’s health concerns with them being together because she’s too old to have babies. Cooper needs some love and someone who has more time for him.

Please visit our web site at https://tarasdream.org/adopt to fill out an adoption application for this pet and for more info about our adoption process.   Meet Roxy!  Roxy is one unique girl who’s had a rough go being in our boarding facility for several years now, which is never good.  That said, her personality is still that of a smiley happy dog, who loves to go on walks with our volunteers.  Roxy was recently fostered in a home for the holidays where she did very well, having no accidents and behaving like an angel!  Roxy can be a little nervous and unsure of men, which just means men should give her time to familiarize with them, and respect her by moving slowly, and not acting like an idiot or aggressive (I’m a guy btw, I can vouch we are idiots at times).  Roxy needs someone patient, but once she connects with you, she will be your best friend and love you in the most special way.  If you think you are that unique opportunity for Roxy, she’s been waiting!    Approximate Birthdate:  Oct 2017 Adoption Fee: Roxy's adoption fee has been sponsored by the Kansas City Crime Lab! TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a TWO WEEK TRIAL. Due to the fact that many of our dogs come from the local city shelters, we do not know the background of many of them and therefore cannot always guarantee age or breed.  Size is subjective but we use the following guidelines: Small 1-20 pounds, Med 20-50 pounds, Large 50-80 pounds, Extra Large over 80 pounds.   For more information please fill out an application.     CONTACT INFO The Animal Rescue Alliance (TARA) Web site: tarasdream.org Adoption Information & Applications: https://tarasdream.org/adopt Upcoming Adoption Events: https://tarasdream.org/events Email: email@tarasdream.org July 3, 2024, 5:56 pm

Story
Atwood is a playful three-year-old pooch who would love a quiet home to call his own. He spent some time in a noisy shelter environment and is so over that noisy chaos! All those dogs yap yap yapping all the time and all he wanted was a nap, darn it. He loves to pose for pictures and play with his toys, especially his stuffies. He would also like some peanut butter, by the way. Atwood prefers a peaceful existence in an abode with no kids and no other pets, please. Most of all, though, Atwood wants to be with people who love him. He's such a lovely, sweet boy. Call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 for more info. Atwood is in the KC metro, but transport is available to the right home, foster or permanent. #thepetconnection

Please visit our web site at https://tarasdream.org/adopt to fill out an adoption application for this pet and for more info about our adoption process.  Meet Sabrina!  Sabrina is a pittie mix, and she’s a firecracker of energy who would make for a sweet companion for an active household.  She walks well on a leash, and she does simmer down once she gets some energy out. Her energy level is in part because she’s in a boarding facility where her time to play is always limited, so we believe she would settle into a home environment very nicely. Sabrina’s good with most other dogs but would would need some time to get used to sharing her home with another pet as she hasn't had to since being in our program. She does have a tendency to chase cats, so her ideal feline friend would be an older, more laid back cat.  She’s friendly with everyone, but as she can be so excited at times, she would be best suited for a home without very small children that she might knock over with kisses!  Sabrina wants to remind you that it’s not easy to find a home when you’re a black dog, and she would love an opportunity to meet you and melt your heart.        Approximate Birthdate:  July 2022 Adoption Fee: $200 TARA's adoption fee includes: spay/neuter, age appropriate vaccinations, microchip, heartworm test (if age appropriate), heartworm and flea prevention, and deworming.  TARA's pets are all eligible for a TWO WEEK TRIAL. Story
Rocky is a gentle soul who starts his morning with some stretches, downward dog yoga poses, and meditation (aka naps in the sun). He's a big chap at about 80 pounds, but don't worry, at just about five years old, Rocky won't be growing more! We recently learned that Rocky loooooooves to swim! Like, really loves it and could possibly be a water sports dog, too. He dives for the ball and really commits by putting his head and body under the water! This pooch has heart *and* skills, we're happy to report. He's also super cute -- bonus! You couldn't ask for a better pooch than this guy. He's intelligent, affectionate, loving, house-trained, and doesn’t chew on anything (except for toys and Benebone wishbones). Rocky is good with adults and children of all ages -- he grew up with babies and toddlers and loves spending time with a 2.5-year-old toddler now, playing ball with him for hours. Do you have a dog in need of a canine companion? Fantastic! Rocky adores the dogs in his foster home. He carefully picks out toys to share with them and then they enjoy a good game of chase in the yard. He would also do great as the only pooch in his home if he gets plenty of attention from the humans. Rocky is not so much a cat guy, though. Rocky already knows sit, stay, come, touch, and shake. He loves earning treats by doing these tricks and could be easily trained to learn even more. Rocky takes treats so, so gently from your hand, too. (He's such a good boy!) Some of Rocky's favorite things are getting pets, riding in the car, being outdoors, playing with toys, and going on walks. While Rocky loves cuddling in bed with his humans, he patiently waits to be invited up, because he's polite like that. What Rocky would love to do most of all, though, is find his forever home. Please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 if you're The One. If not, please share Rocky's information with everyone you know so you can visit Rocky at their house when he gets adopted. #thepetconnection

Story
Moss is a great boy with a ton of personality! Let's chat about his personal stats, first. Handsome here is about eight years old and 65 pounds--perfection! Moss can be shy when meeting new people, but he's a whole different dog when he has another dog to play with. The look on his face is pure joy. Moss loves to play year-round, too! His favorite toys have squeakers (yay!), and he'll play fetch with you and chase with his dog buddy. When it's cold outside, Moss likes to cuddle up and rest his head on your lap. During the summers, though, he can be found rolling in the grass and sunbathing. No matter the season, he appreciates butt scritches and belly rubs. This boy is incredibly smart. He knows how to sit, stay, come, look at me, touch (your hand or a post-it placed somewhere), shake, lay down, and find it). Moss is very treat motivated, so teaching him new things will be a breeze. He likes to be challenged with puzzles where food is the reward. Young kids make Moss nervous, so he'd prefer an adult-only home if you don't mind. Please call or text The Pet Connection at 913-671-7387 about making Moss part of your family. He's in the KC metro, but transport is available to the right home.

Story
Meet Saint! This one-year-old boy is ready to join you on all of life's adventures. Saint has lived with children and dogs in the past and slept in his crate at night. He has met cat on a sleepover and was cat friendly! Saint was recently surrendered to the shelter due to no fault of his own. He is a loving and playful boy! He would make the perfect running or hiking partner. One of his favorite ways to burn off some extra energy is a good play session. His favorite toys are tennis balls, squeaky toys, and frisbees. Saint is a young boy who is ready to learn how to be the best dog ever. He would love a family who is willing to teach him all the fun tricks. At the shelter, Saint enjoys showing off his perfect personality and can't wait until he gets to go outside and run around and play. He also doesn't mind a good cuddle session either. Saint enjoys hanging out with other mellow pups during playgroups and is described as having a soft temperament. Saint was able to go on a Dogs Day Out recently. They described Saint as an easy-going all-around good boy! He did well walking with them the entire time and loved to explore his surroundings! When they were on the trail, Saint made sure everyone knew how sweet he was and had the chance to love up on him. He would gladly take all the attention you would give him. Throughout the day,Saint proved to be excellent at taking directions and did great hanging out with the children in the family! Saint is living in a foster home. Adelaide had 3 happy puppies that she was still nursing, although looking very skinny herself. She also had a limp and required surgery. Her life is the stuff of a tearjerker/feelgood dog movie. Now she needs the happy ending! Adelaide is good with other dogs, people of all ages and shows no reaction to cats in the neighborhood. Adelaide is currently living in a foster home This loyal, loving, brave girl is ready to find her forever home!Email foster@kcpeproject.org to learn more.

Story
Anubis was found as a stray, like so many of the dogs at KC Pet Project. This means we don't know his history. He's a young black lab mix, estimated to be about a year and a half old. Anubis has many good years ahead to be someone's best friend. He has been a little shy at the shelter so far. He's a new arrival so we are still learning about him. Come find out for yourself by meeting him at KCPP!Did you know that black dogs are often overlooked in the shelter? They are oftentimes the dogs who stay in shelter care the longest and are chosen last. Don't let that become Anubis' story! Remember, black dogs are the best dogs. Their hair doesn't show up on black clothing and their coats don't appear as dirty as they may be. Will you be the lucky owner of a black shelter dog? KCPP has already provided Anubis' neuter, microchip, and vaccines. Are you ready to provide him a loving, lasting home?
