Story
Gordy is a fun loving, energetic lab mix, who loves affection. Gordys past living situation was outside, with many other dogs, and no vet care. Since Gordy has been rescued, he has been treated for mange, tick disease, and heartworms. He has made tremendous progress in his foster home, but is still very fearful of strangers. Gordy has a lot of personality, is a great communicator (you’ll always know exactly how he’s feeling), and plays well with other dogs, would also thrive as an only dog. Gordy gets very excited, so a home with small children or small animals will not work well for him. Gordy is about 60 pounds but thinks he is small and petite. He is neutered, walks well on a leash, knows some basic commands, and is completely house trained (those are great accomplishments in such a short time). Gordy lives for playtime and snuggling with his person, he does not like to be in a kennel. He will attach himself to the person he trusts, but this will take some time an effort to gain, but he is worth it! If you are looking for a lazy dog, he will not be the one for you. If you are looking for a best friend who adores you and is always ready to hang out, Gordy may be your perfect fit! Story
Hi! My name is Maisy Jane. I am a 72 pound black & white Labrador / bull terrier mix. I was born on June 8th, 2022. My foster journey started when I was just an 8 week old puppy. I was rescued after being abandoned on a roadside, and spent the next few months in foster care getting a lot of love, and training from my foster mom. I was adopted by a wonderful family, but sadly, my adoptive mom got sick with cancer, and could no longer take care of me, so my foster mom welcomed me back home, and now we are looking for my new forever family! I am a really sweet and smart girl who absolutely loves my people with my whole heart, and my exuberant tail wags show it. I love being involved in whatever you are doing, and I'm happy to spend all day, every day right by your side. I'm up for adventures as long as they aren't too scary, or I am down with just chilling and watching TV. I'm not a puppy anymore, but I still like to play and be active. I can get along really well with friendly dogs who are smaller than me, but bigger dogs or ones who are bossy tend to scare me. I love cats and kittens and try to play with them, but sometimes I can accidentally be a bit rough. Sometimes I don't realize how big and strong I am, and can overwhelm you with my exuberant love and whippingly waggly tail, so I may not be the best fit for little kids or those who are elderly or disabled. I learned a lot of tricks and commands when I was a puppy, and while some of those things are a little rusty in my memory, it's all coming back to me now as my foster mom works with me again! I know how to swim, and I really enjoy the water once I know it's safe. I love to chase bubbles and the spray from the water hose or sprinkler! While I am a really good girl, I'm not exactly perfect. I do like to dig holes, and loud noises and new things sometimes scare me. I can be a bit timid and tender hearted. I would really love a home where I can be loved and encouraged to be my best self by someone who understands dogs like me. Story
PARVO MOMMA UPDATE!! Sweet Momma LilyBeth and her 4 puppies were pulled from a local shelter after 2 puppies had passed away. We were told this family had a severe case of worms but sadly once they arrived at our vet we realized it was much worse. Not only were they loaded with parasites but all 5 tested positive for the deadly parvo virus and were seriously ill. All 5 had to be hospitalized for the next week in ICU at the awesome Parkway Animal Hospital. After a week of around the clock care it’s finally safe to say they have BEAT PARVO! Momma LilyBeth appears to be a yellow lab mix around 3 years old. She came to us severely emaciated and has filled out nicely. Shes finally at healthy weight which is around 40-45 lbs. This girl was absolutely terrified at the shelter but she has warmed up so much in her foster mom. She still will coward down at first but she quickly comes around. She absolutely adores her foster mom and is much more comfortable around females than males. She doesn’t mind other dogs as long as they are not dominate to her. She is not a fan of cats. She doesn’t mind a crate and is super loving once she gets to know you. She’s very excitable. She loves kids but she doesn’t understand her size. She walks on a leash and loves to play. She will require a little extra patience but she is totally worth it. She is Utd, hw tested and will be spayed on 4/21 and then will be ready for her perfect forever home. We are taking apps on this sweet girl now. All dogs have a $175 adoption fee which includes vet check, age appropriate shots (atleast 2 sets for puppies), dewormer, heartworm test (if over 6 months), rabies (if atleast 16 weeks) and spay/neuter! Puppies will be altered before adoption. All rescues and shelters practice pediatric spay and neuter. This is essential in our rescue efforts and it is a policy that we will stick by. All dogs over 8 weeks and 2 pounds will be altered before adoption. There are no exceptions to this rule on all healthy and adoptable dogs. Puppies/Dogs that are not available for adoption due to vetting not being complete can be reserved with an approved application and a non refundable $50 deposit. This deposit is applied to your adoption fee and the remaining $125 is due at pick up. Wags and Whiskers is an all-volunteer rescue. We also have full-time jobs and Families. We will try to answer all questions and applications in a timely manner. Please be patient and bear with us . Do not contact Parkway Animal Hospital as they are a vet clinic and can not answer questions on behalf of Wags and Whiskers. All questions and comments must go directly through the rescue. Thank you for your understanding.
