Story
Meet Tessie, a charming 10-year-old Labrador Retriever.   This gentle soul exudes a calm demeanor, completely  unfazed by the opinions of other dogs—she's never  once barked back at those who challenge her during  our walks. Tessie enjoys leisurely strolls, but her true  passion lies in resting afterward, recharging her energy  to be the ultimate "velcro dog" when her loved ones are  nearby. While she may not be interested in traditional  playtime—preferring to give a few licks to a chew toy  while ignoring balls and sticks—she adores exploring  her surroundings with her keen sense of smell. Tessie  c raves companionship, always eager for a gentle pet  while we relax in front of the TV or attempting to snuggle up as a lap dog during meals. Age: 10 years Breed:  Labrador Retriever Weight: 65 lbs Kid-friendly: Yes Dogs: Yes Cats: Yes, not kittens Crate trained: Can free roam, when gone she is in a baby gate area. Potty trained: Yes Health concerns: None Current medications & estimated costs: None Adoption fee: $375 As a rescue, we provide the care, procedures and testing that is available to us. Adopters will be responsible for continued preventatives, follow-up appointments, and medications (if applicable). At times, adopters will be responsible for procedures not completed in rescue (dentals, bloodwork, etc.)  Your new dog will receive their rabies and distemper vaccine.  $50 discount for seniors (65+) and veterans. Adoption fees help pay for the dog's veterinary exam, vaccinations (rabies and distemper) HW test and spay/neuter if needed and additional health needs specific to each animal.   Grey Face Rescue does not adopt outside of Minnesota for now. We apologize for the inconvenience.  We do not adopt animals to families whose current pets are not up-to-date on vaccinations or not altered. Exceptions may be made for medical reasons as stated by a veterinarian and we will require proof of that recommendation. Thank you for understanding our mission to reduce overpopulation.  Once you submit your application, our adoption manager will be in touch, so please check your spam folder if you do not see something from us within 7-10 days.  Thank you again for your interest in a Grey Face senior. Story
Rosa is a sweet and loving dog who I think prefers the quiet but can also handle the chaos of children and other animals. I got her from a shelter in AR when she was about 6 months old and she is now 8. Rosa likes walks in nature rather than neighborhoods as she can be overstimulated easily but she'll enjoy it nevertheless. She gets along with cats, children, and small dogs. I think because of her anxiety she becomes overstimulated fast and her excitement to play with other medium/ big dogs may turn into aggression once contact is made. I think with proper training or behavioral help she can overcome that. She just recently developed a little arthritis in her back hips but her vet said with exercise and maybe a little pain meds to help it along she can recover very well. She can sometimes bark a big game to throw you off but she would honestly not hurt a fly. Overall Rosa is a pretty laidback and loving dog that just enjoys being around her human all the time.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi!  My name is Peach and I am settling in nicely after being with my foster family for a few weeks.  I was scared of everyone to begin with, but have realized these people are going to be nice to me so now I have started to really come out of my shell and let my personality shine!  I am still very scared when I meet new people, especially men, so I need time to feel comfortable and safe with new faces. I will bark and growl at first but this is because I'm so scared and I want to make sure new people understand I need my space.   I don't like being left alone, so a house with someone home most of the time would be best for me. My nose was a bit raw from rubbing it on the door of my kennel but it is nearly healed since I don't go in a crate much any more. I have been known to find things on the counter and believe that finders are keepers so I would suggest for everyone's sake that temptation is kept to a minimum.    I also REALLY like playing with the dog that lives here - he is showing me how to trust people, to sit for treats, to walk nicely on a leash and be part of a family.  A house with a dog would help to keep me busy and tire me out as I still have some puppy energy even though I am 1.5 years old.  When he is not willing to play, I can amuse myself with a toy - tennis balls are the BEST!   And the best place to sleep is close to the humans - in the same room for sure but next to you in bed is really where I want to be.  I will snuggle up and snore quietly once I trust you.     I haven't had any accidents in the house since I got here. I like to spend some time outside in the yard with my family and get to go for 3-4 walks every day to practice my leash manners, and build up my confidence when I see new people.   Peach was found as a stray. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello, I'm Jackie but my previous adopters called me Junie! I'm a sweet, potty-trained pup who's still learning to trust the world around me. I can be pretty shy, especially around men, but with a little patience and kindness, I’ll start to come out of my shell. I get along great with other dogs, and I'd really love to have an older pup sibling to help me feel more confident. I haven’t met any cats yet, so I’m not sure how I’d do with them. I'm also kennel-trained and can sleep peacefully through the night. I know some basic cues like "sit" and "stay," and I really enjoy going on walks—especially when I have a routine to follow. Because I'm still working on my confidence, I’d do best in a home with older kids who understand my need for a little extra time and space. If you have a quiet, loving home and another dog to show me the ropes, I think we could be the perfect match! Jackie was adopted as a puppy but was recently returned through no fault of her own. Her previous adopters took good care of her but she does require a little more patience than they were able to give. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello Everyone, my name is Pearlescent Moon and I am so happy to meet you. I have a bit of a sad backstory, but I am so excited to find my new lease on life! I came from a criminal seizure case because I went from being overweight (80 lbs) to very underweight (40 lbs) in a very short period of time. My neighbors were concerned about me and reached out for help as my previous owner appeared to be struggling with my care and it was decided I should be removed from her home. I ended up at a private veterinary clinic where a wonderful vet tech took responsibility for me and worked to find me a place within a rescue where I could receive the care I needed and some stability. I have since settled into my Ruff Start Rescue foster home and am learning that I will always be taken care of, loved and cuddled, and that food and water will always be there for me.    Part of the reason I declined so quickly is that I have diabetes which requires twice daily insulin injections and a thyroid issue that requires twice daily pills, both of which they believe I was not receiving with my previous owner. The vet team is now working with my foster to get me back on track and adjusting my medicines to make sure I am doing the best I can. Due to the time I was not being well taken care of, I am still underweight, have issues with my coat and skin, longer than normal quicks in my nails, and have probably lost some of my eyesight. But the good news is: I am gaining weight, my skin will improve more and more with good food and regular baths and combing sessions, and my nails appear long, but don't seem to bother me too much. I can still see, but I have some issues that will likely remain, even after my medications are more regulated. I am looking for a foster-to-adopt home as I will need to get a bit healthier before I will be able to be spayed and have a small mass on one of my front legs removed. I will need my medications likely for the rest of my life and will need to have my weight carefully managed once I am at a healthy weight again.    My foster family says I am quite the sweet and silly girl and are really excited I am here. They think I am 4-5 years old, a red lab maybe mixed with a bit of hound, and that I fall into the large dog category. They say I will have the prettiest fur when I am healthy, and even though my eyes are cloudy they speak to your soul. I do a lot of talking and my foster Dad thinks I must have been a dinosaur in my previous life for some of the noises I make. Shared walls would be an issue for me with my whining, noises, and barking requirements (I have to tell you how I feel after all!).  I am also one of those amazing large dogs who doesn't know my size and thinks I should still get to sit on your lap! I am still very starved for contact and will come sit on the floor next to your chair, stare at you, and whine and bark until you pet me, which then leads to me rubbing against you, leaning into you, and begging you for more love. They do think once I settle in a bit more, this need will lessen, but plan on cuddles being a top priority for me! I do great with the other dogs at my foster home and the cats too, but I need to be fed separately as I am still learning to trust that I will always have what I need. I do my business well outside on a leash and hardly have any accidents once I am in my routine. My foster Mom and I are getting the hang of my meds and I can tell when it's time for my insulin, so I can help you remember! I haven't started playing with toys yet, but I love the big cushy bed they put in my kennel so I can be comfy while I gain weight.    I promise, I am worth all this fuss and you will have a lifetime of love with me in your home.  Will you give me a second chance? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, I'm Poe.   I came from a local shelter where my time was up and needed a rescue. I came from a home that took me to the dog park so I could hang out with my friends.  I am good with kids and other animals as well.  What my foster mom didn't expect was how loyal and lovable I am.  I follow her from room to room and sit by her side.  Foster mom has some crabby senior dogs and a few young dogs living with her.  The older dogs don't care for me much but that's okay.  I give them a grin and go on my way and then play with the two dogs closer to my age. I share toys and I am not possessive of my food.  I do love snacks and treats though!  I am a big boy with a lot of energy so having a buddy to run with or another dog to play with would be greatly appreciated.  I don't like being in the crate and do the cutest sad boy howl but will accept my time in there with a kong treat filled with peanut butter and treats.  I come when I am called and know how to sit, shake and lay down.  At night I sleep in foster mom's room with the other dogs and stay on my dog bed, not making a peep, until morning.  I am a diamond according to my foster mom.  She thinks my heart shows through my fur and is already in love with me.  I am a catch!   E.A.
