Story
Rosa is a sweet and loving dog who I think prefers the quiet but can also handle the chaos of children and other animals. I got her from a shelter in AR when she was about 6 months old and she is now 8. Rosa likes walks in nature rather than neighborhoods as she can be overstimulated easily but she'll enjoy it nevertheless. She gets along with cats, children, and small dogs. I think because of her anxiety she becomes overstimulated fast and her excitement to play with other medium/ big dogs may turn into aggression once contact is made. I think with proper training or behavioral help she can overcome that. She just recently developed a little arthritis in her back hips but her vet said with exercise and maybe a little pain meds to help it along she can recover very well. She can sometimes bark a big game to throw you off but she would honestly not hurt a fly. Overall Rosa is a pretty laidback and loving dog that just enjoys being around her human all the time.

Story
Ranger is an extremely kid friendly dog with lots of energy. I took him for a friend who was moving 2 years ago when he was just a few months old. I believe he was born in the beginning of 2022, not exactly sure when but the pic of him as a puppy was taken June of 2022. He has lived out in the country his whole life and whether it be chasing squirrels or dirt bikes, Ranger loves to run. I have moved out of my parents house and live in an apartment that does not allow dogs. I am hoping to find him a loving home where he will have plenty of room to run and exercise.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi there, I’m Jackie—though my first family called me Junie, so I’ll happily answer to either! I’m a sweet, potty-trained girl with a heart full of love to share. While the world still feels a little big and scary to me, I’m learning to trust it one kind person at a time. I can be shy, especially around men, but with gentle encouragement and patience, my playful and loving side starts to shine. I’m a doggy social butterfly and feel most confident with a friendly, older pup sibling to guide me. Bonus points if they’re calm and can show me the ropes! I also do great with cats—yes, I’m that well-mannered—and I’m kennel-trained, sleeping peacefully through the night like a pro. I already know some basic cues like “sit” and “stay,” and I love going on walks, especially when I have a routine to rely on. Because I’m still working on building my confidence, a quieter home with older kids who understand my need for space would be perfect for me. My ideal family is one that can offer love, patience, and a nurturing environment where I can continue to blossom. I was adopted as a puppy and loved dearly, but I recently came back to Ruff Start Rescue through no fault of my own. My previous adopters took great care of me, but I need someone who can give me just a bit more time to feel secure and truly thrive. If you have a kind heart, a cozy spot on your couch, and  a pup friend to help me find my footing, I’d love to meet you! Let’s take the first step toward a lifetime of love and companionship. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello my friend, my name is Pearlescent Moon and I am so so happy to meet you, especially if you plan to give me pets! I love pets almost more than anything else and I even bunny hop with my back legs when you scratch my back. My foster family says I am quite the silly girl and that I love to play fetch a little too much. I just like to bring them my toy to throw, over and over again! They say I have the prettiest fur, and even though my eyes are cloudy they speak to your soul. I do a lot of talking and my foster Dad thinks I must have been a dinosaur in my previous life for some of the noises I make.    I have a very sad backstory but I have turned a new page here with my foster family and I am so excited to start a new life with you! I came into rescue very underweight with uncontrolled diabetes and thyroid issues due to severe neglect. With the help of the amazing vet team here at Ruff Start Rescue I have been able to get my diabetes under control and am now only a few pounds away from my goal weight! Unfortunately due to the time I was not being cared for I have some eye issues and unnaturally long quicks in my nails which means they have to be kept longer than is typical. Neither of these bothers me too much however. I will need to be on two medications for the rest of my life and my weight will need to be carefully managed moving forward as well.    Can I learn how to be loved again with you?   Pearlescent Moon is from an owner surrender. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, I'm Poe.   I came from a local shelter where my time was up and needed a rescue. I came from a home that took me to the dog park so I could hang out with my friends.  I am good with kids and other animals as well.  What my foster mom didn't expect was how loyal and lovable I am.  I follow her from room to room and sit by her side.  Foster mom has some crabby senior dogs and a few young dogs living with her.  The older dogs don't care for me much but that's okay.  I give them a grin and go on my way and then play with the two dogs closer to my age. I share toys and I am not possessive of my food.  I do love snacks and treats though!  I am a big boy with a lot of energy so having a buddy to run with or another dog to play with would be greatly appreciated.  I don't like being in the crate and do the cutest sad boy howl but will accept my time in there with a kong treat filled with peanut butter and treats.  I come when I am called and know how to sit, shake and lay down.  At night I sleep in foster mom's room with the other dogs and stay on my dog bed, not making a peep, until morning.  I am a diamond according to my foster mom.  She thinks my heart shows through my fur and is already in love with me.  I am a catch!   E.A.
