Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Pearlescent Moon, a playful and resilient girl with a heart of gold! This silly sweetheart loves nothing more than a good game of fetch (click here to see her in action), bringing her favorite toys back for another round of fun. When you scratch her back, she'll express her joy with happy bunny hops! Pearlescent Moon has the most captivating eyes, though a bit cloudy, they still hold a soulful charm. She has a bit of a unique voice (her foster dad jokes she was a dinosaur in a past life!) and sometimes she just has a lot to say! Pearlescent Moon's past may have been challenging, including neglect that led to health issues. However, thanks to the incredible team at Ruff Start Rescue, she's thriving! Her diabetes and thyroid are now well-managed with just two medications twice a day. Despite some minor eye issues from her past, Pearlescent Moon's resilience shines through. She's a loving and playful companion who's ready to shower her new family with affection. Click here to see how much she loves to play with other dogs too.   Could you be the perfect match for this amazing girl? Pearlescent Moon is from an owner surrender. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, I'm Poe.   I came from a local shelter where my time was up and needed a rescue. I came from a home that took me to the dog park so I could hang out with my friends.  I am good with kids and other animals as well.  What my foster mom didn't expect was how loyal and lovable I am.  I follow her from room to room and sit by her side.  Foster mom has some crabby senior dogs and a few young dogs living with her.  The older dogs don't care for me much but that's okay.  I give them a grin and go on my way and then play with the two dogs closer to my age. I share toys and I am not possessive of my food.  I do love snacks and treats though!  I am a big boy with a lot of energy so having a buddy to run with or another dog to play with would be greatly appreciated.  I don't like being in the crate and do the cutest sad boy howl but will accept my time in there with a kong treat filled with peanut butter and treats.  I come when I am called and know how to sit, shake and lay down.  At night I sleep in foster mom's room with the other dogs and stay on my dog bed, not making a peep, until morning.  I am a diamond according to my foster mom.  She thinks my heart shows through my fur and is already in love with me.  I am a catch!   E.A. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Rudolph (Rudy first short) is a gentle soul who is learning to be more confident in his own skin. He has the roundest most curious eyeballs, always wanting to follow you around and see what is the next adventure. The best home for him would have a confident dog to show him the ropes and model good behavior. Rudy loves kids! When he sees kids, as young as 7, he has the cutest little whimper that he will continue until you let him go and play with the children. He loves to hug them and lay on their laps and just do anything and everything the children are doing. He loves to play with chew toys with the other six dogs in the house. He is gentle with cats and enjoys cuddling them when he is sleeping. Rudy is a companion that would prefer the least amount of time away from his humans as possible. He knows the word "kennel" when asked and is working on his manners to exit the kennel politely.    Click here to see a cute video of him! He would love a family that walks him and runs him and takes him on adventures to broaden his experiences all while loving you to the moon and back. Rudolph is from a local shelter. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Arlo is known for his silly antics—he’ll do anything for a game of fetch or a good belly rub! Arlo is a playful and affectionate dog who’s always up for a game of fetch or snuggling with his foster family. Whether he's chasing a ball or curled up for a nap.  Arlo is struggling with sharing his space with the resident dog in the home and would likely do best as an only dog. He has shown possibly too much interest in the cat in the foster home as well. Arlo would love an adult-only home where he can be the star of the show!    Arlo is from a local shelter. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet Meredith! Meredith is a young pup with an easy-going and affectionate personality. Friendly with dogs of all sizes, cats and people of all ages, she’s crate trained, does well in the car, and loves water and toys. While still a puppy, Meredith is surprisingly well-behaved—she can be left unattended for 4-5 hours without tearing things up, though she may shred a bit of paper now and then. This playful girl loves to chew on her Benebone or deer antler, cuddle with other dogs, and is just as happy curling up in her own dog bed. Meredith has already started learning basic commands like “sit” and “come,” and she’s working on her leash manners. Her signature move? A little pirouette with a tail wag when she’s excited—it’s adorable! Meredith would thrive in a home with another playful dog or an active family who can keep her entertained. Whether it’s playing with kids or joining an adult for daily walks, she’s ready to bring joy and love to her new home. Are you ready for Meredith to pirouette her way into your heart? Meredith is from Texas.  If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hello, my name is SnowWhite.  I’m originally from Texas where I gave birth to my little family of puppies who are also with Ruff Start Rescue, but I am flying solo now and looking for a new family to love. My perfect new family would be a combination of relax and play. I like to have a comfy area in the middle of the action to snooze but if anyone would like to go outside and play or go for a walk, I’m all in! I am a chill girl, but I get a little bored if I don’t get any exercise during the day. Being from Texas I’m used to the heat, but this white snow stuff is amazing and surprisingly,  I love it. For fun, I like to de-stuff all the stuffies, especially the ones with squeekies, so I’ve been switched to stronger toys and bones.  I have a toy box with my toys, and I know what is mine and leave the human things alone. I’m great on my leash and I like to go for rides. When the lakes open up, I suspect I might like water too. I’m used to dogs and so far, have gotten along well both big and small. I currently live with a little chihuahua who thinks she is the boss of me and that’s just fine.  I am flexible and non-confrontational. Good natured and eager to please. I also live with an older cat who I am slightly curious about but she keeps her distance which works just fine. I think I could be friends with a confident cat who doesn’t want to run away from me. I like people but I do need slow introductions. With a new person, I prefer to give it some time and I will come to them when I am ready. After that, I’m devoted.  My current foster doesn’t let me go upstairs and I’m so smart, I listen and don’t even need a gate. I’m not supposed to be on the couch but I’m still working on that. Every once in a while, when no one is looking I like to sneak up there.   I am not aware of my larger size so I could accidentally knock over a toddler so keep that in mind. I like to get outside to do my business and run a few circles and I come back when called. I am completely house trained and have not had any accidents in the house especially since my foster mom gives me plenty of bathroom breaks. After a final outside break at night, I’m good to snooze the night away until morning. My current foster Mom doesn’t let me sleep in bed (probably because of that little boss chihuahua) so I just stroll off to sleep in my kennel with the door open until someone wakes up in the morning. I get fed and get bones in my kennel, but I mostly get free roam of the house because I can be trusted. After warming up to you, I’m just a soft-hearted gal looking for someone to love and play with me. If you love me, I’ll love you back double.    SnowWhite is from Texas.
