She loves riding in the car. If the weather allows, she’s a great dog to go on errands with. I think she’s happier that she was brought along rather than left alone at home. Millie is house trained and at this time she requires an insulin shot right after she eats in the morning and 10-12 hours later, with dinner-she requires special diabetic dog food. Approximate monthly cost of her medications and prescription food is $335.She gets along well with other dogs she can be a bit too much for smaller dogs. and cats are unknown. She can be very vocal when hungry or when she has to go outside. Her best bet is a fenced yard that she can be just let out to go potty when she needs to.  Millie will need to continue to work with a Veterinarian to keep her diabetes regulated so she can live a long happy life.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Story
Moses is a sweet, loving dog who recently came back to rescue after quite a bit of time. He has endured a lot of trauma over his 3.5 years & is looking for something pretty specific in his new home! Read on to learn all about this little hunk of love.   Moses’ puppy months were spent in a hoarding situation in Kentucky and he is especially scared of men. He is not aggressive, but will bark/growl, avoid and stay to himself when men are around. He barks at new people when they come into the room or the home. He tends to attach to only one person in the home, usually female, and so that makes it challenging for anyone else to get close to him. He does show curiosity and allows his back to be pet, even when he is avoiding…he has never snapped or bitten, but it seems clear that he will never seek out attention from anyone other than “mom”. He has been in a few foster homes for temporary care and he struggled in each one when more than one person lived in the home. To avoid another home that is not a good fit for him, the BEST place for Moses would be with a person who lives alone (preferably female), in a mellow environment. His ideal owner would understand his fear of new people and use his crate effectively when people visit the home. He prefers to curl up in his crate when too many people are around anyway, so it’s a win-win situation for Moses and house guests. He will allow dog sitters or friends to put his leash on him and take him for walks, so that isn’t a problem. He is just very worried when there are multiple people. He doesn’t understand how to trust or want attention from more than one person at a time. He previously lived with a cat, in an apartment and did fine. While Moses is extremely shy at first, with another dog, his confidence comes out almost immediately. He does not require a dog friend in his fur-ever home and mostly wants to play with a more calm dog, instead of a crazy puppy, if there is another dog. He really loves dogs but not those that jump all over him and don’t take cues saying “leave me alone”.   Now that you’ve made it past his quirks… He kennels perfectly & doesn’t make a peep. He eats & sleeps all night in his kennel. He is 100% potty trained and has had no marking or accidents in the house, so a kennel isn’t necessary but it does provide him a space to feel safe if needed. He doesn’t chew on things he is not supposed to, loves bones & squeaky toys, and rolling around in the grass. He is a little overweight so walks are great for his diet journey! He walks beautifully on a leash.  He is a medium sized dog with a BIG heart, and is just looking for a patient, loving home who will show him safety and snuggles fur-ever. He is a wonderful couch potato buddy but would also be a great hiking partner, as he does want to please. He doesn’t bark in the yard or in the house and prefers to follow you EVERYWHERE you go!    Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Hi everyone, my name is Wasp. At the moment, I'm the baby in the group. I’m a lab born 12/6/2022 with honey eyes. Sometimes I'll flash my sweet innocent eyes and my foster family will give extra cuddles, scratches, or treats! I'm good at potty training but once in a while when I go somewhere different, I might have an incident. I sleep in my crate but I would prefer to cuddle with my family members. I'm a great walker by myself or with fur foster siblings and I love to go for car rides. Sometimes I get to go shopping and I'm a good girl, I lay down in the cart and never make a peep. My foster mom has taught me to sit, stay, and be gentle. I love to play and wrestle with my fur foster siblings, I can play for a long time, and when I get tired, I'll just crawl into a ball either by bed, couch, or your lap. I normally stay close to my foster mom and I never run off where I'm not supposed to. I love to be with kids! My best bud is my 7 yr old foster brother Angelo. We are always playing outside. I can't wait to meet my new family so I can show them what I've learned so far and give them such love as I received from the family and friends I've met so far. Thanks for looking at my bio and hope to see you soon! A doption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate),   Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age , Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
Maxine is an affectionate girl who loves people. She’s always happy to get pets and frequently leans against our leg and rolls over for belly rubs or snuggles up against us when we sit down. She does best with slow introductions to new dogs, especially if the other dog comes in hot. That said, she gets along great with our other foster, who is a hyper ball of energy. Once she is comfortable with the other dogs, she behaves very submissively. She also ignores cats. Maxine walks quickly on a leash; however, she listens well to correction. She is completely potty trained. Some days, she has been in the kennel for up to 10+ hours without an accident. There have been no accidents outside the kennel, either. She will go to the door and wait until let out. She is a smart gal, so I’m sure she could be trained to ding a bell or use whatever method you prefer. Maxi sleeps well beside us in bed all night. Or she will chill all day or all night in the kennel. We’ve got some exciting news about this pup’s age! Thanks to DNA testing from Embark, we’ve got a fresh take on how old they really are. A big shoutout to Embark for generously donating these tests for us to explore! You might spot a difference between Embark's findings and our original guess—after all, no test or person is 100% accurate. It’s all part of the adventure! Story
Hi there! I’m Buddy, an enthusiastic black Lab born in February 2022. Life threw me a challenge early on, and by 4 weeks old, I wasn’t walking. Thankfully, my incredible foster mom came into my life at 5.5 months and helped me begin my recovery journey. My back legs needed some extra support—my right leg had little muscle and wouldn’t bend, so I used to swing it around. But my left leg is a superstar, with plenty of muscle and movement! I’ve been getting physical therapy, which includes lots of toe wiggling and fun games (I may have given my foster mom a few face licks—she says they’re ticklish!). Keeping my left leg moving is super important, and a professional therapist could be a great addition to my team. I can walk and hop pretty well when I take it slow, but when I get excited, I sometimes scoot around like a happy wiggle worm! Since I’m still working on potty training, my foster mom has a clever trick: my tail sticks straight out when I need to go, giving her a few seconds to help me out. Most of the time, I’m just too busy having fun to realize I need a break! Slippery floors can be tricky unless I have good traction, and while I can manage stairs, I might need a hand going down (those rails can be a bit tricky!). Here’s the best part: my spirit is unbreakable! I spread love to everyone, from kids and adults to playful pups (I haven’t met any cats yet). I do bark in my kennel for attention, food, bathroom breaks, or just because! So, a home without shared walls would be ideal. Car rides are a breeze as long as I’m safely tethered or crated, and I even come with a special "Help Em Up" harness for all our future adventures! Are you ready to open your heart and home to a special needs pup with a heart of gold? Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. He has not met a human friend he didn’t like and will never pass up a chance for a snuggle. Jelly loves chewing on squeaky toys, playing fetch with a ball is a favorite along with frolicking outside. He loves to explore and learn about his surroundings. Meal time is his favorite along with a small treat. Jelly is working hard on potty training- he can make it through the night and the day while the foster is working. He is good about doing his business as soon as he gets outside.  While he might cry for a minute when put in the kennel, he calms down quickly, especially with some calming puppy music. Jelly is still learning boundaries so he will need dog and human companions that will be patient with him! Story
Dunne, which is pronounced “Dune,” is a very special boy who made the journey all the way from Afghanistan to come live in Minnesota. He is a sweet, gentle, 50 pound golden mix born 1/1/22. He is starting to adjust to his new surroundings and has learned so much in the last few weeks. Poor boy has not had much for socialization, we are working with him but needs more time to learn to "be a dog" so he NEEDS another dog to show him how to dog! Dunne loves to be around his people so much that being kenneled is hard for him. He is not a fan of the kennel, he gets calming treats when we have to leave or when he has to be in his kennel. He loves car rides and loves to be brushed and pet. He nudges your hand for neck scratches. He also loves getting a bath. He is very concerned about pleasing others and is easily trained.  He has a very mild, sweet disposition with a low energy level. He would probably love a doggie companion to help show him how cool it is to be a dog in the USA. He will be a dedicated companion with lots of love to give. Dunne is a blank canvas and would love to have a person that will love him and teach him how to be the dog he knows he wants to be.   We’ve got some exciting news about this pup’s age! Story
Hi! I’m Gypsy! I am a golden retriever mix who’s at that golden age stage where I’m not as active as a puppy but not as slow as a senior. I am about 3yrs old (10/2021). Unfortunately, through no fault of my own, I was bounced around a bit between different owners, so I haven’t had a stable home yet. But that’s where YOU come in! I’m hoping my sweet golden eyes with entice you to welcome me into your home forever. With my past of being bounced around, I do have some anxiety (more so in a kennel for long periods) but I do take a daily anxiety medication that helps. Just put it in a pill pocket and I’ll gobble it right up with my morning meal. This HAS to be given EVERY morning. It is NOT a medication that can be given every so often or to be stopped suddenly on. My foster mom highly, highly recommends that I stay on it life long due to the unstable rough beginning I have had. I love playing with toys, kids, and other dogs. I have been known to be more of a dominant female, but only to some female dogs. I like to sniff cats at first, but then will completely ignore them. I ride great in a car – I love looking out the windows! I am crate trained (although may whine a little at the start knowing you’re going) & house trained. Story
This is Hazey, a 5-year-old female golden retriever weighing about 60 pounds. Until she was rescued by NDLB, her entire life was spent being bred. As a result, Hazey is very scared of people; she tries her absolute hardest to be invisible. Hazey chooses to spend most of the day in her safe spots, but has started to explore the house and will sometimes hang out in the living room with us. She is not an active dog - she’d much rather snooze the day away. Getting her out of the kennel to go potty may take some maneuvering, especially at first. In our home, she’s now at the point where she will walk herself in and outside for potty breaks. She’s had very few accidents which mostly occur when she’s scared. Hazey is terrified of the leash and is easily startled, which makes her a flight risk. As such, a fully fenced and secured yard is required for her safety. Hazey lives with a 70lb dog and has been exposed to other dogs of varying sizes. She isn’t too interested in them at the moment, although she does look to the other dogs for guidance and they do provide comfort for her. For this reason, Hazey would do best in a home with a patient and well-adjusted dog that can show her the ropes. She hasn’t been exposed to cats but would likely do just fine with them. Hazey also hasn’t been around kids and would do best in a home without children. She prefers quiet and calm. This sweet beautiful girl needs time to decompress and adjust to her new life after years of neglect. If you are someone with a big heart and lots of patience, please apply!  Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, dental, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $550.00  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 17, 2024, 11:58 am
