Story
We adopted Ruby in April of 2023. A family friend had to get rid of her due to a busy household and work schedule. She was about 6 months old when we adopted her and is now about a year and half. She is a very, very sweet dog and loves people, including children, whom she is quite gentle with. She is half lab, half pit. She loves long walks, chew toys and napping with her pet family. She is a very affectionate dog and loves being petted and cuddling. We had her fixed last May, and she is in excellent health. We want to keep her, but our HOA started to crack down on the number of pets home owners can have. We have another dog that is older and in declining health and we wouldn't feel right trying to find a home for her. We love Ruby but we know that she has many good years ahead for the right family. She is healthy, happy, and loves people of all ages. Truly a great dog for any home.

Story
Magdalena is not just any dog; she is a testament to the resilience and the unwavering spirit of a survivor. This beautiful 5-year-old Labrador mix has faced challenges that would have deterred many, yet her spirit remains unbroken and her heart full of love. Magdalena's journey has been a tough one. Due to a human-caused incident, she tragically lost one of her legs and, heartbreakingly, her puppies as well. Despite these hardships, Magdalena has shown incredible strength and determination to heal both physically and emotionally. The last picture was taken during her early healing stages, you can see her courageously taking each step forward, supported by her indomitable spirit. Today, Magdalena is fully healed and ready to embark on a new chapter of her life - one filled with love, compassion, and the security of a forever home. Her gentle demeanor and loving nature shine through every interaction. Magdalena adores human companionship and has a special affinity for belly rubs and leisurely walks. She is known for her playful antics and happy face. Magdalena's ideal home would be one where she is cherished as a member of the family and the only dog in the home. She does well with dogs her size or bigger but hasn't been around small dogs much and doesn't do well with smaller dogs. She has also never been around cats but given her reaction to small dogs, she probably would do best in a home without cats. She thrives on affection and is eager to return it tenfold. Whether it's snuggling on the couch or exploring the great outdoors, Magdalena is up for any adventure as long as she's by your side. If you're ready to open your heart to a dog who has overcome adversity with grace and love, Magdalena is waiting to meet you. Help us give this incredible survivor the happy ending she deserves - a forever home filled with kindness, warmth, and the promise of a brighter tomorrow. Could you be the one to give Magdalena the loving home she's been waiting for? Reach out today to meet this special dog and discover the joy she can bring to your life.

FOSTER CARE: Our rescues are fostered in individual homes or at our facility. We work hard to ensure that our rescues have a supportive family while at foster homes to help them move forward and get ready for their forever home. We work on training, crate-training and socialization before an animal is adopted out. Foster homes are extremely important to the success of the cat at their forever home, and it is extremely rewarding to be able to watch the cats growth as you help them on their journey to their happy ending. YOU CAN HELP: If you’re not able to foster or adopt right now, please consider sponsoring a Legend. Your donation will help with our care and pay for medical costs. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $200 plus taxMillie wants to please her people as well as be with them while they are at home. She loves riding in the car. If the weather allows, she’s a great dog to go on errands with. I think she’s happier that she was brought along rather than left alone at home. Millie is house trained and at this time she requires an insulin shot right after she eats in the morning and 10-12 hours later, with dinner-she requires special diabetic dog food. Approximate monthly cost of her medications and prescription food is $335.She gets along well with other dogs she can be a bit too much for smaller dogs. and cats are unknown. She can be very vocal when hungry or when she has to go outside. Her best bet is a fenced yard that she can be just let out to go potty when she needs to.  Millie will need to continue to work with a Veterinarian to keep her diabetes regulated so she can live a long happy life.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
Moses is a sweet, loving dog who recently came back to rescue after quite a bit of time. He has endured a lot of trauma over his short life & is looking for something pretty specific in his new home! Read on to learn all about this little hunk of love.   Moses’ puppy months were spent in a Kentucky hoarding situation, and he is especially scared of men. He is not aggressive but will bark/growl, avoid, and stay to himself when men are around. He barks at new people when they come into the room or the home. He was adopted & returned after 2 years. I suspect, that was due to his reaction to new people and that he didn’t like a man in the picture. He tends to attach to only one person in the home, usually female, making it challenging for anyone else to get close to him. He does show curiosity and allows his back to be pet, even when he is avoiding…he has never snapped or bitten, but it seems clear that he will never seek out attention from anyone other than “mom”. He has been in a few foster homes for temporary care and he struggled in each one when more than one person lived in the home. To avoid another home that is not a good fit for him, the BEST place for Moses would be with a person who lives alone (preferably female) or an extremely patient household that will understand it will take him a long time to be comfortable. His ideal owner would understand his fear of new people and use his crate effectively when people visit the home. He prefers to curl up in his crate when too many people are around anyway, so it’s a win-win situation for Moses and house guests. He will allow dog sitters or friends to put his leash on him and take him for walks, so that isn’t a problem. He is just very worried when there are multiple people. He doesn’t understand how to trust or want attention from more than one person at a time. He previously lived with a cat, in an apartment and did fine. While Moses is extremely shy at first, with another dog, his confidence comes out almost immediately. He does not require a dog friend in his fur-ever home and mostly wants to play with a calmer dog, instead of a crazy puppy, if there is another dog. He really loves dogs but not those that jump all over him and don’t take cues saying “leave me alone”.   Now that you’ve made it past his quirks… He kennels perfectly & doesn’t make a peep. He eats & sleeps all night in his kennel. He is 100% potty trained and has had no marking or accidents in the house, so a kennel isn’t necessary but it does provide him a space to feel safe if needed. He doesn’t chew on things he is not supposed to, loves bones & squeaky toys, and rolling around in the grass. He is a little overweight so walks are great for his diet journey! He walks beautifully on a leash.  He is a medium sized dog with a BIG heart, and is just looking for a patient, loving home who will show him safety and snuggles fur-ever. He is a wonderful couch potato buddy but would also be a great hiking partner, as he does want to please. He doesn’t bark in the yard or in the house but will bark & do a very crazy/hilarious dance when its time for dinner.  Moses loves to sleep on top of his person at night or glued to your side & will follow you EVERYWHERE you go! When he falls in love it is FOREVER!     Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $475.00/span>  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 24, 2024, 2:00 pm
