Story
Ladies and Gentlemen - Domino "Never have to worry about what is worst or what is best" Oh oh Domino Domino was found as a stray and never claimed. He was born in March of 2022 - we think :) He is an 80 lb Lab mixed with an energetic goofball. He should be fine with older kids and adults. He isn't overly fond of the other dogs here, so he might do better as a single dog until he gets used to being in a home setting again. Domino also should be in a cat free home. Domino has a big personality and loves attention, he keeps a clean kennel here, so the transition to home should be easier. Domino really wants a home and a family. Will you come and make his dreams come true? All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only. If you have any questions feel free to send us an email at freeborncohumanesociety@gmail.com, send us a message on Facebook, or call or text 507-377-8501.

Story
Velvet came to us with her 2 sisters from up north. Born in January 2024, she was the shy girl of the 3, but has really come out of her shell. She is a happy, beautiful young lady who would be great for a quiet home. Velvet loves to be petted and loved with lots of tummy rubs. She still is a bit shy around strangers, but gets over it quickly with positive interactions. She loves her sisters, so should be fine with other dogs with a proper introduction. Velvet would be a gentle sweet addition to any family. Come down and meet her! She will melt your heart! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. Story
Dutchess is a small lab mix girl who was abandoned by her owner. Born in July of 2023, she is a sweet, energetic bundle of joy. She is happy to see everyone, but needs some work on her manners. She rides well in the car and is good on a leash. She keeps a clean kennel here at the shelter, so we assume she was house trained in her former life. She would be a great choice for a family that has space for her to run and a bit of time to work with her on some training. Come and meet Dutchess - she is a wonderful girl! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. Odin was brought in as a stray and never claimed. He was chipped so we were able to get his medical history from the vet. He was born in Feb 2022 and is 75 lbs. He is friendly and full of energy. He needs some work on walking on a leash without pulling, but he loves to run in the yard and play in the pool! He would love to have a big yard to run in along with a new best friend to be his human! Come and meet Odin - he is a wonderful dog! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sonya came to the shelter from the city pound when her hold was finished and no one had claimed her. She appears to be around a year old and looks like a black lab/pit bull type mix. There could be some other breeds in there, too. She's very loving and full of enthusiasm. She has been vet checked and spayed and her fee is $150. Sonya does know how to sit (most of the time) but will most likely need some basic training. She is a very energetic young dog who will require regular exercise. We do think she would do best as the only pet in the home, at least until she gets some good training and socialization under her belt. She will need some time to decompress from the shelter environment as it has been causing her a lot of stress. An adult only home would be best (teens are fine). NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Please keep an eye on your emails if you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 3, 2024, 4:17 pm

Story
Copper is a bundle of joy wrapped in a shiny coat. With his playful spirit and boundless energy, he's always ready to turn an ordinary day into an adventure! Whether it's chasing after a squeaky toy, playing fetch, or just running around in the yard, Copper's enthusiasm is absolutely contagious. However, Copper does have a tender side-he experiences a bit of separation anxiety, which means he thrives in an environment where he has plenty of companionship and understanding. He'll need a family who can offer him patience and reassurance while he learns to feel secure on his own. Copper is eager to find a home where he can be the center of attention and share his loving heart. He gets along great with other pets and would make a fantastic addition to a family willing to give him the extra love and care he needs. Copper can sometimes be a little too exuberant for small children and might be best suited to a home with older kids who can join in the fun without being overwhelmed. Copper also likes to chase cats, so dog savvy cats only please. He is very friendly when meeting people and good with dogs. Adoption fee is $300 plus tax, apply at www.campcompanion.org

Story
We bought this beautiful boy as a puppy from a breeder in northern Minnesota. He is 4 years old (5/12/20). He comes from a long line of field/hunting dogs, but we never trained him to be one. Asher is a purebred but not registered with the AKC, because we never intended to breed him. This boy needs room to run. We are hoping to find someone with some land. He has never shown any signs of aggression towards dogs or kids/people He is high energy but not destructive in any way. He doesn’t like going to the groomer, so experience in nail clipping would be a huge bonus for Asher. He is very trainable. We have only taught him the very basics. He has been a great member of our family in his 4 years with us. Sadly, our new baby girl (human) has been coughing and sneezing, pretty much since we brought her home. We care about Asher too much to make him an outside dog, so we are looking to find him a better life. He comes with every dog item we have: crate, harness, bowls, collars, etc.

Story
Hey there! Are you looking for a new best friend?!? I'm Bo, a playful and affectionate guy on the lookout for my forever home! My foster fam says I am a GOOD BOY who will unconditionally love my human. Fetch is my favorite game, and I could chase after a ball for hours. If you love a good game outdoors, I'm your guy! When I'm not busy fetching, I adore back scratches and belly rubs. Nothing makes me happier than snuggling up next to you after a fun play session. I am a little weary of strangers, but I love to be with my family. Right now I love cuddling up between my foster parents faces at night! Nothing like a big, fluffy pillow!! I'm eager to learn and ready to soak up all the love you have to offer. If you're looking for a loyal companion who's always up for an adventure (and a good scratch!), I'd love to meet you! Story
Tucker was found in August while my husband was working. He is very playful and kind and loves to cuddle. Out to date on shots and recently neutered. He does very well with our kids and other dogs but we already have 2 dogs and our older dog’s anxiety has increased since bringing Tucker into our home. We don’t use crates and there is usually someone home during the day so we are unsure how he does with extended stays by himself.
