Story
Meet Beck! LONGEST KENNEL RESIDENT! NEEDS A FOSTER! Hubba hubba here he comes! Beck is a one-year-old lab/plott hound mix who's 60 pounds of pure love! Beck is hands down one of the most affectionate pups you'll ever meet. He is very timid around new people, but once you've earned his trust, he makes no secret his goal in life is to be close! He actively seeks affection and gives the best hugs in town. His new family will need to be very patient and encouraging with him. We promise you he's worth the wait. Once you're in, you're in for life! Beck had an outing to one of our volunteers homes and he loved every second of it! It took him all of five minutes to find the toy bin and he helped himself to every single toy in there. Tough toys are best our playful pup and he is always up for a game of fetch! They were able to take toys/food away with no issue. Beck does excellent with other dogs and has a vocal playstyle. If you're looking for a pal for your family fur baby, Beck is your boy! Excited to follow his nose and explore new surroundings, Beck does well on leash. This lovable pup appears to be house-trained as well. As he is still a young man, Beck will benefit from continued training as he grows. His new family will need to keep him active and engaged and a fenced-in yard for him to enjoy is a must for his handsome boy! Training will be an excellent way to form a lifelong bond. Though he does need some work on his manners, Beck responds very well to correction. When it comes time to eat, Beck appears to be a grazer. He takes his treats gently and Nudges are one of his favorites! He gets his evening zoomies and then is ready to relax for the night. When it comes time to travel, Beck does well in the car and will lay his head in your lap during the ride, though he does need some help getting situated in the car. Based on our evaluation, we feel Beck would do well in an active home with adults or families with kids ages eight and up. He enjoys hanging with other dogs and we feel he would be a great buddy for another pup. We are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. Don't spend another day without this lovey-dovey boy! Head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for our bubbly Beck!

Story
Meet Tootsie! Hey everyone! Tootsie here from Great Lakes Dog Rescue! I’m a fun-loving one-year-old, 50-pound, lab/hound who is ready to snuggle my way into your heart! My friends at GLDR recognized I was struggling at the kennel and knew I desperately needed some help! Luckily for me, one of their wonderful foster families stepped in and now I’m living it up at her place until you come take me to my forever home. I currently live with my fabulous foster mom and my two amazing fur brother siblings. Being around other dogs really helps me build my confidence and I'd prefer to have fur siblings in my new home. If your fur baby is looking for a pal, you've found your girl! I have a blast playing with my fur brothers and can't wait to meet your pup! While dogs in my new home are a must, I'd prefer not to live with feline friends as I can't help but chase them. As you can tell by my photos, life is pretty good! I’m learning how to be a member of the pack and am also learning new commands. I'm happy to report I'm house-trained and crate-trained! I enjoy all sorts of treats and take them gently. I absolutely love to explore outside and will gladly run in the yard every chance I get. Given my tendency to chase squirrels that try to invade our yard, everyone says I need a fenced-in yard to keep me safe. I’m decent on a leash, and my recall is improving every day. At the end of a fun-filled day, I sleep quietly through the night, cuddled up with my foster mom! A pup of many interests, I like to alternate playtime with relaxing around the house. I'm a gal who loves my chew toys and will need lots of tough toys and enrichment in my new home. My foster mom says because I'm so smart, I need lots of fun stuff to keep me engaged. Thinking about a road trip? I'm a bit hesitant to hop in the car, but do well once we hit the road. I look forward to all the places we can go together! When meeting new people, I can be a bit hesitant, but just know once that trust is there, I'll be a loving and loyal friend to you all my life. I don't currently live with kids, but am interested in them and would love to have some human siblings to play with as well. Kids ages eight and up would be best for me. Looking forward to an active home that will make me part of their adventures. I just know we will have the best time together! If I sound like your kind of pup, please fill out an application at greatlakesdogrescue.com and my friends at GLDR will be in touch!

Story
Meet Tank! This three-year-old handsome hunk of a lab is the missing piece you've been waiting for! He's 77 pounds of good time goofiness that will brighten anyone's day! An explorer at heart, Tank's curious and fun-loving nature makes him the ultimate companion. He's good on leash and will make an excellent walking/hiking buddy. Tank loves to spend his time sniffing every inch of the yard and running the fence with his canine companions. Due to his adventurous nature, our boy will require a tall (6 ft) fenced-in yard in his new home. Not just a handsome face, Tank is so much more! House-trained and crate-trained, Tank aims to please. He was lucky enough to spend a few days away from the kennel and had a blast. He gets along well with other dogs his size, though he does tend to chase cats and other small animals, so he'll need to go to a family without any small furry friends. Check out his pics! Some of our fabulous volunteers whisked Tank away on an adventure, and let me tell you, he was living his best life! Tank was the ultimate co-pilot, rocking it in the car like a champ! They explored the stunning Metamora State Park with a three-mile stroll! When they encountered other pups or people on the trail, Tank was a total gentleman on the leash. And oh boy, did he love the water (typical Lab)! To top off the fun, they treated Tank to a pup cup that he devoured with pure joy! These volunteers couldn't stop gushing about Tank's sweetness and smarts! Tank is a very capable guy, who knows sit and is ready to learn even more. He's very food-motivated which will be a benefit when training him. He always takes his treats gently and is so much fun to be around. As he's still a younger pup, he will thrive on daily exercise and mental stimulation in his new home. Based on our evaluation, we feel Tank would do best in an active home with adults or families with kids ages 16 and up. He may have the potential to live with other dogs and we are happy to do a meet and greet with your family fur baby. If you think Tank is your kind of pup, head to greatlakesdogrescue.com today and submit your application for this lovable lab!

**Adoption Pending** Birdie has the most adorable pouty lips! She is estimated to be about a year old and weighs 41 pounds. Oh my goodness, what a sweetie Birdie is! She is affectionate, gentle, and really loves to lean into you and stay close. Be prepared to be showered with kisses too, there is never a shortage of those with her! Truly, her only care is to seek affection and maybe try to sneak up in your lap. While she can be a little bit unsure at times and hand shy, with the right family, she will just blossom. Birdie needs a leader to rely on and trust. Confidence building and some basic obedience training will be important for her. She will need a fun, active home where any children are at least 8 years old with her timid nature. Birdie is a treasure and is sure to bring so much love and joy to her forever home. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Birdie would love to meet them. She has a soft, loose approach with other dogs. She is very interested in other dogs and wants to interact and play, she is also very in tune with her handler and likes to “check in” with you. If you are interested in Birdie and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

**Adoption Pending** Harmony is absolutely beautiful with gorgeous eyes, she will have much nicer pictures coming soon to really show her off. She is estimated to be about 2 years old and weighs 46 pounds. Harmony is just so sweet, affectionate and craves human touch and attention. She loves to play and has the cutest full body wag, but also has that docile, cuddly side to her, the best of both! She is a smart girl too who knows the "sit" command and can't wait to learn more tricks. She is very eager to please, gosh, she is going to make someone so lucky and fill their home with love. Harmony is submissive and hand shy though, but with the right nurture, love, care and confidence-building, she will just blossom into a more confident dog. She would be the perfect addition to a family who can give her the love and attention she deserves. She will need a home where any children are at least 4 years old. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the home, Harmony would love to meet them. She has a soft, loose, friendly approach with other dogs that moves into play. She also checks in regularly with you, such a good girl. If you are interested in Harmony and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. What a soft, sweet, cutie! Tiny Tim is estimated to be about 5 months old and weighs 40 pounds right now. Tiny Tim is the typical goofy, playful puppy with a soft personality. He is very clumsy puppyish and honestly just darling. He really wants to please you and seems highly trainable. A fun, active, loving home would be his dream. Tiny Tim would thrive with some structure and basic obedience. If there is another nice doggy sibling in the house, Tiny Tim would love to meet them. He has a loose and playful approach with other dogs. It is important that his new family understand the commitment and amount of work puppies need before adopting. He will also need someone who is home frequently because he can't be left alone for a long period of time due to being a puppy! A family that is active and is open to helping him learn the way of being a good dog is just what he needs. They are looking for families to make a best friend for life! He would just love to grow up with his family. If you are interested in Tiny Tim and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch.
