Hi my name is Rhyme! I am a shy kind of dog who is looking for a patient owner who is willing to give me time to adjust and open up in my new home. Once I get more comfortable, I will come out of my shell and start to show more of my true personality. Due to my shy nature, I would prefer to be in a home without children under 12, so I can gain confidence and be my best self. If you are interested in meeting me, please fill out an adoption survey online or in the shelter.

Gender: Female Age: # 1/2 Breed/Color: Lab / Black Location: Gregory, MI Pet ID: 2024_12 Adoption Fee: $350 Princess aka Prissy is one heck of an amazing dog!! She is a lab/hound mix. She has not seen a lot of new things, so she can be shy at first ... ohhhh but don't let that fool you!. She is used to and LOVES cats. Dogs are new to her, but man oh man she can play with them or leave them because she can play by herself!. She is a bit on the chunky side, so clearly she is food motivated in life. She does not know very many commands, but she is not unruly or ill mannered. Princess is the perfect dog for ANY home! Kids? Great! Cats? Great! None of that? GREAT! To adopt an animal from our sanctuary, the first step is to submit an application. *Please note we adopt within the state of MICHIGAN ONLY* The process takes a few weeks. It involves vet and personal reference checks and interview of applicant. There are no exceptions … Please remember that we are all volunteers and it may take a week or so after we receive your application to be contacted. Sometimes several people may be interested in the same pet, so please remember that not every animal is right for every home. To ensure a healthy and happy placement for our pets and their new families, we take the time to evaluate each animal’s temperament and try to match the right animal to the right family. OUR ADOPTION GUIDELINES All fees are subject to change without notice. Submitting an application does not obligate you to adopt nor does it guarantee the animal will be adopted to you. We do not work on a first come first serve basis. We collect applications and make our best determination on where we think the animal would thrive the best. We have the right to deny any applicant without explanation, and the decision is final. Very rarely do we get written documentation of an animal’s age and breed. We do not guarantee these, we work with professionals to help make the best determination. All of our foster homes follow a 30 Day Stay policy and do not make ANY exceptions. This policy requires every animal who comes into foster care, to stay in foster care for a minimum of 30 day before going to their forever home. **Meet Winnie!** Winnie is a resilient, joyful Lab-Shepherd mix with a heart of gold and boundless puppy energy! This sweet girl absolutely loves being outside, where her curiosity and playful spirit shine. She’s made incredible progress after her accident and now uses her back legs most of the time—though sometimes she needs a gentle reminder to take it easy when she's zooming around and goes faster than they can handle at the moment. she's still very fast lol. Winnie is crate-trained and sleeps like a champ through the night. She’s working on her potty training that was delayed due to her injury and will thrive with a patient, loving family to help her continue her progress. She’s fantastic with kids and other furry friends, making her a perfect fit for an active, caring home that can give her the love, guidance, and playtime she craves. If you’re ready for an affectionate, unstoppable little companion, Winnie’s ready to meet you!

Meet little Zander! He is a super snuggly 3 months little boy, old good with all other dogs big and small. Loves to cuddle on couch and give kisses. Sleeps through the night if he's sleeping with you! He is great with his teething and only chews his toys so far. He does have to use a slow feeder doggie dish he eats too fast. Zander is currently potty training and getting the hang of it quickly! He is a quiet little guy and would love for someone to scoop him up in time for Christmas. He’s just a total love bug!

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Hi, please let me introduce myself, my name is Sarah and I am a Lab/Jack Russell Terrier. I am house trained and crate trained, and love to go on walks and sniff around a securely fenced backyard.  Did I tell you that its me that pick all the tomatoes from the plants in the yard ? I am also spayed and have had all of my shots. Sarah was abused by her first human family, so she finds it hard to trust new people and has fear aggression. It will take time to gain Sarah's trust and multiple meetings.  She needs an owner that can give her guidance (and plenty of treats) in situations when she feels insecure. After meeting a trainer Sarah have improved a lot and she responds to her special verbal command.  A training class would be a great adventure for Sarah and her new family. She will excel and perform as an A-student, she likes to learn and is eager to please. Building a relationship with Sarah will be time well spent, once she has overcome her insecurity and fear she is a GREAT active, loyal, and loving dog.  Please come and meet me,  I need is a chance to find my permanent home. Older children only pleas e.    Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue microchips all dogs and cats before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the shoulder blades and are another form of identification should the animal get lost. The microchips are registered to  Happy Days Dog and Cat Rescue. The adopter's information is added once the adoption is complete. The adopter is responsible for a $19.99/Year registration fee or a $69.00/Lifetime registration fee to change information.  Dogs and Cats still need to have collar with tags should they get lost. Story
We inherited Dixie from my partner's mother who is now too old to care for her. We would love to keep Dixie however she has allergies that require her to have a perscription food diet, take weekly medicated shampoo baths, and may require cytopoint injection therapy for her allergies. Despite our best efforts we are unable to afford her treatments and have no choice but to find another family for her. She is very sweet and playful but she still has a lot to learn. For example she still needs to learn not to pull on the leash, and not to bark at new people. I would like to keep in touch with the family that choses to adopt her to make sure she will be ok as well as aid in her medical recovery with the history information I have about her. This is a high maintnence dog that needs training and medical needs. I am setting her adoption price to 100 dollars because the person who wishes to adopt her has to have enough money to support her diet and hygene regime. (734) 707-6389

Story
My name is Passionfruit, but my foster family likes to call me Mango as a nickname (I think both are pretty sweet). I am pretty anxious at first, but I’ve been settling in and feeling more comfortable every day! I’ve been on restricted activity because of heartworm treatment, which has been tough since I love to play. But honestly, I’m a champion couch potato - I adore snoozing, snuggling, and being close to my people. I completed my last heartworm treatment and starting December 4th, I’ll finally be able to run and play to my heart’s content! I’m already dreaming of all the adventures we could have together. In the meantime, I enjoy sniffing sessions outside and do great on my leash. I’m super smart and very food motivated (beef liver is my favorite treat!), so I’d love for you to teach me fun tricks and new skills. I’m on the lookout for my forever family, and I promise to fill your home with love, cuddles, and lots of loyalty. I can`t wait to meet you! **Passion Fruit is currently living in one of our wonderful foster homes. Adopting from foster is easy! Story
Hi my name is Sampson! I am a good boy/girl and I am looking for an active owner willing to offer training and exercise, but in return I can offer unconditional love and years of happiness. I do have some big feelings about some things in this world and tend to express this by reacting with barking and may be a bit too much for some families. I will need to continue my training and HSHV offers classes for dogs like me! Visit www.hshv.org for more information.
