Story
*You must already have a friendly, confident dog to adopt Copper!* Copper is a 1-year-old Labrador with a heart full of love and a touch of shyness. This sweet, gentle boy is a certified cuddle enthusiast who bonds deeply with his people once he feels safe. While the world can be a little overwhelming for him, having a confident dog friend by his side makes all the difference. Copper must go to a home with a friendly, confident dog to help show him the ropes and give him the courage he needs. With a buddy by his side, Copper blossoms-he's more willing to meet new people and even enjoys playful adventures. On his own, he's quite timid and may hide until he feels secure. At home, Copper is house trained and loves to relax with his family, soaking up all the affection he can get. Once he's comfortable, his playful, energetic side shines-he's a big fan of hikes and other outdoor activities. He is house trained as long as he is kept on a routine. He is nervous of young kids and would likely do best in a home with kids 10+. With slow introductions, he is doing well with his foster's cats. If you have a welcoming dog and a patient, loving heart, Copper might just be the perfect addition to your family. He's ready to trust, love, and thrive with the right support! If you're ready to adopt now and want to learn more about, meet, or adopt this pet, you can start the process in one of two ways: Come on in during open adoption hours Tuesday - Saturday 12:30-3:00! For in-shelter pets (not in foster care) coming in ASAP is the fastest way to adopt. **the below two methods are slower than visiting us** Call us (413-781-4000 x 1) or email us (springfield@dakinhumane.org) for more information about a pet. We are often on the line with another client, but we return voice mail and emails within 24 hours. All adult dog adoption fees include; -spay/neuter -rabies and kennel cough vaccinations - heartworm test -current parvo/distemper vaccines (may need additional boosters with your veterinarian) -microchip implanted & registered to adopter

Meet Luna Jean: A Sweet, Laid-Back Pup Looking for Her Forever Home! 🐾 Luna Jean is a loving, easygoing senior girl who’s looking for a new home. She’s currently living with an older couple, but they are no longer able care for her as they age, so we’re hoping to find her a loving, attentive family. Luna is lazy (in the best way!), loves lounging in the sun, and enjoys gentle walks. She’s had TPLO surgery on her left leg and has a sprained CCL on her right, but still loves to get outside and chase the squirrels. Luna is a loyal, affectionate companion who loves cuddling on the couch and meeting new people (she wags her tail at everyone!). She’s a great watch dog and will protect her home. Luna needs to be the only dog in the household, as she prefers all the attention for herself. She’s looking for a calm, loving home where she can relax and be spoiled. If you’re looking for a sweet, laid-back pup to share your life with, Luna could be the perfect fit! Contact us for more info. ❤️

Story
Meet Waffles! A loving five-and-a-half-year-old Labrador Retriever mix from New York, NY, whose heart is as big as her 68-pound frame. Wrapped in a sleek black coat that glistens under the sun, Waffles is an energetic, playful companion with a deep affection for plush toys and cuddle sessions. If you’re looking for a constant companion who thrives on affection and companionship, Waffles just might be the perfect addition to your family! Waffles is a dog who knows her way around obedience, thanks to her formal training. She’s mastered commands like sit, stay, come, down, paw, and up, making her a well-mannered lady in many situations. But she’s not just about obedience; Waffles has a high-energy zest for life, making her an ideal partner for outdoor adventures in a spacious yard or open land where she can run to her heart’s content! However, Waffles’ journey hasn’t been without challenges. She’s selective with her canine friends and hasn’t had much interaction with cats, so her new family should be ready to manage these introductions carefully. Waffles also has exhibited some behavioral challenges, including biting incidents, and she requires a home with a guardian who is experienced, patient, and dedicated to continuing her training, ensuring she feels safe and secure in her environment and manage her triggers, such as strangers in the home. Despite these challenges, Waffles’ capacity for love and loyalty is immense. She’s happiest when she’s by your side, soaking up pets and cuddles, ready to bring joy and laughter into your life every day! Waffles needs a home where she can be the focus of attention, with a family that understands her needs and is committed to providing the stability and training she requires. If you’re an experienced dog lover with a large yard and a lot of love to give, Waffles could be the perfect match for you! To make sure that Waffles has a great start with her new family, we have a canine behaviorist available for a free consultation. Are you ready to welcome this sweet, playful girl into your life? If so, Waffles is eager to find a new loving home where she can continue to grow and thrive. Could it be with you? Contact us at adopt@joyfulpets.com to learn more about bringing Waffles into your family!

Story
Meet Thor! A handsome five-year-old Labrador Retriever mix from North Andover, MA, who’s a delightful mix of playfulness and affection, with a sleek black coat and a striking white patch on his chest. Weighing a solid 65 pounds, Thor is ready to bring his medium-energy enthusiasm and cuddly charm to a loving family! Thor is an obedience superstar, mastering commands like sit, stay, paw, roll over, and heel. He adores fetch with tennis balls, tugging on chew toys, and running freely in a secure fenced yard—a must for this outdoor-loving guy! Thor thrives in the company of other dogs, making him a hit at doggy daycare, and he’s neutral with cats, giving them space while focusing on his favorite activities. Despite his friendly nature, Thor has a few quirks. He’s reactive to the mailman’s visits and on walks, he can be reactive to other dogs but is eager to learn with consistent, positive reinforcement. His new family should be ready to help him build confidence and maintain his focus during these moments. Large gatherings aren’t his cup of tea, and Thor appreciates having a quiet retreat when the house gets busy. He’s great with small groups and loves lounging on the couch with his people during movie nights or reading sessions, showing off his cuddly and affectionate side. Thor is house-trained, neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. His ideal home includes a secure fenced yard where he can safely explore and burn off energy, and older children who can join him in playtime and respect his signals. This loving, loyal boy is looking for a family who appreciates his playful nature and will guide him through his reactive moments with understanding and care. Are you ready to make Thor a part of your family? Reach out to adopt@joyfulpets.com to start your journey with this incredible companion!

Available for Adoption: 10/12/2024 Applications need to be approved before a meet and greet will be set up for any Fetching Hearts Rescue dogs. Meet Ms. Piggy!!! Miss Piggy is one loving girl who came in to the rescue along with all her siblings. We named them after the Muppets. They are all just amazing, big, and loving. Miss Piggy is one of the smallest siblings, but has a heart of gold. She enjoys running around with her friends and siblings. Miss Piggy does not care for toys currently, as she is all about her people. Loves getting pets, kisses and cuddles. She is a typical pup who will run around and be a typical pup, but then will take a nap. She cannot wait to have a home to cuddle up on a couch or with her humans. Miss Piggy would benefit from training classes, as every pup does. She would love to learn commands and how to be the best girl ever going forward. We take pups seriously as they cannot be left alone for longer periods of time during the day. We require socializing, fun time, napping, training and attention. Apply for Ms. Piggy today or one of her siblings. She cannot wait to find her forever family to grow up with and make all kinds of amazing memories. She is up for adventures and family trips.
