Story
Looking for a new home for this gorgeous baby named Maple we are fostering. She is potty trained and crate trained! Her exact age is unknown as she was a stray when found, but she is estimated to be around 1 year old, ~45lb. She is fully vaccinated but not yet spayed or microchipped. She needs a family that is active and affectionate, as she loves to cuddle and play lots!

Story
Charming lives up to the name in nearly every way. He is a sweet 4-year-old lab mix, a great companion who follows me around, loves belly rubs, maintains a very regular eating and bathroom schedule, and sleeps with me. The problem is that Charming suffers from anxiety issues that cause him to be aggressive toward other dogs. Because of a biting incident involving my girlfriend's dog -- combined with the difficulty of walking him in a suburban area where we see dogs constantly -- I have to give him up. The shelter where I adopted him won't take him back and has scheduled a "behavioral euthanasia" for Wednesday, Oct. 30. I have been scrambling to find him a new home, but if I can't, I'm afraid I will have to go through with euthanasia even though it is tearing me up because I LOVE this dog. I feel that Charming can thrive in a situation where he has minimal contact with other dogs, perhaps a house with a big yard. That is what I'm seeking. He is a good soul -- and great with people!

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Thank you for your interest in a Home At Last Sanctuary, Inc. animal.  STOP!!! READ!! The ENTIRE DESCRIPTION before you inquire. Do not call, email, txt, send an inquiry through any other website complete our online application FIRST. http://hals.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=3016 Visit our official website(s) here HomeAtLastSanctuary.ORG or HALS.RescueGroups.ORG There is a complete our application only. Brody has since lived with six different foster dogs. Brody has found comfort in a regular routine.  He knows where he fits in.  He is a very affectionate and loving dog.  Oftentimes, black and darker colored dogs languish in shelters much longer than lighter colored dogs. There are a lot of reasons for this. Potential adopters often rely on a “first look” with photos rescues and shelters have provided online of individual dogs, and dark colored dogs are more difficult to photograph. Some people may have an aversion towards animals with dark coats based on superstition or personal belief systems. And some people think black and dark colored dogs look more menacing than they actually are because their dark faces make it harder to read their facial expressions.  Unfortunately, these stigmas translate into real-life adoption rates and a lack of interest in these beautiful pups who deserve homes.  TAKE A SECOND LOOK AT BRODY Home At Last Sanctuary, Inc. offers certified previously owned dogs to be perfectly matched lifetime companions.  Do you this Brody is that dog for you let is know . Brody's personal Webpage: Click or copy paste this link https://hals.rescuegroups.org/animals/detail?AnimalID=19883451 Brody is a 4 year old mixed breed dog maybe a Labrador Retriever mix.  He weighs about 37 pounds, is healthy, active, and playful dog.  He likes attention and will snuggle in for giving and getting love and attention.   He is good with other dogs with proper introduction.  He would not likely do well with cats.   He has not been evaluated around children.  It does seem as like he would do will with children that is respectful of dogs boundaries and adequate supervision from adults. Brody has only just arrived and we will observe and report more information as it develops. Story
APPLICATION LINK: https://shaynesrescue.com/adoption-application/ We must have an application to move forward. (Shayne's Rescue is an affiliate with PetCentralSATX). If there are problems with the website, please email me for help. Sugar is about 1 yr old (DOB 9/1/23), 21” tall at the shoulder and 33’ long from base of tail to her nose. She now weighs 51#. Her fur is soft and shiny, We think she is a Lab mix…according to the vet. She is a dog needing special care because she is 100% deaf. She gets along great in life depending on other dogs to know when they’re being called for dinner, etc. She is bright and happy and she has been taught a few hand signals for commands. The most difficult part is that you can’t depend on sound to get her attention. Here are the foster’s comments about her personality and behavior: This beautiful young female, Sugar, was a stray who showed up on my acreage in the fall of 2024. Over the course of several days, I could see that she was trying to eat the bark off my trees and was starving. Over the next few days, I put out a bowl of kibble every day. Sugar was leery of my presence and I was leery of hers but I was determined to help her, to rescue her and to find her the loving forever-home I knew she deserved. As it turns out, both of our sense of hesitation was completely unfounded and, from the first day after I contained her in my fenced yard, Sugar, my five other dogs, my husband, and I became the best of friends. Personality/Behavior: * Very gentle, very loving, very peaceful, wants to please her human * Very intelligent, intuitive, interactive and responsive * Responds well to men and women equally * Got along very well with my five other dogs from the first day I found her (male Siberian Husky, male Australian Shepherd, male Pekingese, female Rat Terrier and female French Bulldog) * Intuitively knows which of my dogs she can play with and to what degree * Submissive and respectful to other dogs and people; responds to boundaries * So far, Sugar has been an outdoor dog but I believe she will make a fabulous indoor/outdoor companion in the future * Sugar only barks when she sees a stranger, a deer coming too close the fence, etc. Sugar barks for "good reasons"; she does not bark just to bark. Because she is deaf, Sugar, generally, barks at things she can see and not hear. For example, Sugar does not bark when other dogs bark, when ambulances drive by, fireworks, etc. * Learned how to sit with me using hand signals and treats * I do not know if Sugar is potty-trained because I have not let her in the house. Sugar has never gone to the bathroom in her very large partition nor on the concrete patio. Sugar has only ever gone to the bathroom in the far side of the very large fenced grassy area along with my dogs. I suspect Sugar will learn to be potty-trained very quickly if she is not potty-trained already. * Has never jumped up on people * Very well behaved, smart and has a lot of potential for further training Best Suited For: * Active family who can take Sugar on regular walks * Someone with patience who can work with a deaf dog and who is able to train Sugar to be able to live inside * Sugar is not hyperactive nor does she have the personality traits of a working breed (eg. Siberian Husky). Sugar will thrive in an environment with average activity. This dog is CURRENTLY IN TEXAS and available for pre-adoption. Adoptions include neuter/spay, vaccinations (DHPP, Bordetella, Rabies), microchip, health certificate, transport with our professional dog transporter, and 6 mos of heart worm prevention. Story
We welcomed Ash when his previous owner had to relocate, and he’s been with us for a year and a half. Ash is currently one year and eight months old (born January 15). He’s energetic, playful, and loves the backyard but rarely barks at neighboring dogs. Ash is house- and kennel-trained. Though he mostly stays outside, he’s had no accidents indoors when supervised or kenneled. He’s independent yet needs plenty of exercise and playtime. While Ash is loving and friendly, he’s still working on manners. He sometimes jumps on people and gets overly excited around other dogs, so he needs a confident handler. However, he’s shown no aggression toward people or dogs, and responds to e-collar corrections. With a bit more training, Ash will thrive in a home that can match his energy and provide the guidance he needs. Our family sadly has to say goodbye due to being displaced by a house fire, but we are confident that Ash’s happy go lucky personality will be welcomed in his new home.

Story
We do not promote any of our dogs as housetrained or allergy friendly. Lainey left St. Croix heading to the DMV area :) Of course we love mangy pups, why wouldn't we? We love seeing them transform from discarded, defeated and all alone to vibrant, loved and cherished by their forever family. Lainy is estimated at 10 months old, around 48lbs, shy at first but let the pictures below tell you the story of every pup hurt and unsure and how they light up when allowed time. Her amazing local rescue did a fantastic job caring for her but would love to see her in a forever home. She's great with other dogs, and no we don't have a clue as to what her breed mix is, we guesstimated :P Demodex mange is not contagious and resolves in no time. We have a treatment protocol ready for the foster/adoptive home to continue and it's as easy as giving her a chew every two weeks. She's already healing wonderfully! Are you looking to help Lainey through Tasca's Love by fostering/adopting her? Then head-on to our link below to apply https://bit.ly/4d7XoKd

Story
Hi, I’m Milo! I'm about 6 months old--as of April 2024 and I weigh 40 lbs.  I don’t remember much of my life before arriving at A Home of Their Own, and I’m okay with that. Like most pups, I may need a refresher on potty training, jumping, and leash walking, but I’m sure I’ll pick it up with consistency, patience, and lots of yummy treats. My foster mom says the following about me: Milo has a LOT of energy. He's great in his crate, but definitely needs a lot of running around time.  He basically never barks - which totally works for my backyard!  Oh, and he loves putting half of his face in the water bowl to slurp up water. He's such a goofball! He would definitely benefit from having another doggy sibling in the home to play with! ##2033459##

Story
At no fault of his own, due to his owners health, Zeek is up for adoption. Zeek is a six-year-old, 65-pound chocolate lab terrier mix with a lot to offer. He’s crate trained, doesn’t chew on things, isn’t a barker, and isn’t an escape artist. He’s incredibly snuggly, affectionate, and well trained. He’s used to being loved and cherished. Zeek is a high energy guy and extremely eager to please. He sleeps away most of the day but really enjoys his walks/exercise time. Zeek would love for someone who will take him out to see the world or the neighborhood — or someone with a backyard. He's a confident but anxious guy that takes daily medication for anxiety. All Zeek wants is to be someone’s baby again, to be loved and spoiled as he deserves. Can Zeek be your baby? Do you want to schedule a meet and greet? There is no adoption fee for Zeek — more than funds, we want to ensure he goes to the best home. He has a crate, bed, toys, and food that can all come with him as well.

If you are interested in adopting this dog,  please fill out an Adoption Questionnaire at  https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/43315/genericDog's Name:  Carter (CAR0921CHEMD)Estimated Breed:  Labrador Retriever  mix Approximate Age:  4 yearsApproximate Weight:   60 lbs Currently Living at:  FosterAdoption Fee:  $400DOG'S DESCRIPTION: What a handsome fellow!!  Carter is a timid boy who is very unsure of new things.  Once acclimated to his surroundings and routine he's great! He will do best with an adopter who is loving, patient, and willing to give him the time he needs to build his trust. He is bonded with Violet who is a little less nervous about people than Carter is, and  another confident dog in the household will also show Carter how awesome life can be. Carter would not thrive in an apartment or busy city, so a more rural single family home with a  large fenced yard is the best fit for him. He is VERY dog friendly and loves to play with any dog you put him with. Carter and Violet do wonderfully together, with a very solid routine, and will make great "farm dogs" where they can be allowed to relax and play together...that's all they want in life. Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.           Adoption fees cover basic vetting, spay/neuter surgery (at partner vet if not fixed before adoption), rabies, distemper/parvo vaccinations, treatment for worms, heartworm testing, monthly heartworm prevention and monthly flea/tick prevention (while the animal is in our care), and transport costs from high-kill shelter. Please note that on average, K-9 Lifesavers spend significantly more on each dog than their adoption fee. Adoption fee for HW positive dog also covers heartworm treatment at our partner vets. Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit  http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/  or email our Foster Coordinator at  foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!  Make a  tax-deductible donation  today by visiting us at http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/donate/   Donations help us offset boarding costs and additional medical treatment for those dogs who need it.  K-9 Lifesavers receives NO federal funding and survive with your generous support! Luckily, K-9 Lifesavers has stepped in to help. She will need someone who is loving and patient and will give her time to build her confidence and trust. Violet will benefit from an adopter that knows how to care for scared rescue dogs. Another confident dog in the household may also be what Violet needs to help her overcome her fears. She is comfortable with other dogs, not so comfortable with people. Her foster has worked with her and she has progressed beyond the shut-down mangy pup in the last picture. But she has some more 'coming out' to do. She will do best with an experienced family living in a single family house with a large fenced yard. Unfortunately, we cannot expect her to thrive in a city environment, she doesn't walk on leash, and she won't potty on leash so having a fenced yard to be able to work on these things is required. Please consider giving sweet Violet a chance at a better life.Your new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training.
