Story
Meet Bebe! She’s proof positive that you’re never too old to begin a new chapter. This darling girl finds herself looking for a new home because her owner is terminally ill and closest family members are allergic. At 12-13 years old and very overweight, this poses a bit of a challenge. But here's the good news, our Bebe is full of light and love and ENERGY. So we're looking at her current situation like a caterpillar in a cocoon just waiting to come out and fly. Her theme song is Patti LaBelle’s “New Attitude.” (We hope that doesn’t date us.) Currently she's a 40lb dog stuck inside a 50lb body and she's eager to shed the excess weight and start this next phase of her life. She has Cushings disease and will need to continue her medication to control it. Bebe has good house manners and has left most things alone. She plays with toys if you'll play with her and lives for belly rubs. She knows basic commands but can also be a little headstrong. She LOVES her walks or even just time meandering around the backyard. As the weight is falling off, she’s also starting zooms around the house and lots of play time. She’s definitely feeling herself! She is 99% house trained but has had a few accidents from stress. She wants to know where you are in the house and if she can't find you, she may stress pee. This has been mitigated by talking to her from wherever I am. She is also crate trained. She does well with most other dogs so far. She’s generally fine with them until they gruff at her. She’s a bit alpha in her play so would recommend pairing her with a more submissive dog. I’m excited to get to know her more and for you to join us on this journey. We'll be highlighting her weight loss journey along the way, which will be great for us both! Bebe's stats: Weight: 57lb, working her way down to 40 Age: 12-13 years Good with kids: Yes Good with other dogs: Some Good with cats: Unknown Fenced yard required: No OK for townhouse or apartment: Yes House trained: Mostly Crate trained: Yes Barks when left alone: I’ll bark when you leave, but then I’ll settle down. Chews inappropriate items: No Training: Knows sit and come. Needs more work but waiting to lose weight before training. Highly treat motivated. Activity Level: Low Needs experienced adopter: Not necessarily. Should be willing to learn about her medications. If you are interested in Bebe, consider letting us know by filling out a (no-obligation) adoption application. Please consult our Adoption FAQ before contacting us. Please check the adoption-show-attendees page (http://www.pgspca.org/adopt/adoption-show-attendees/) to see if Bebe will be attending the next adoption show. NOTE: We are an all volunteer group and do not operate a shelter. All of our animals are in foster homes. We are unable to place our animals outside of the Baltimore/DC area.

Story
Mammy Chikki is a very sweet dog who had a very rough time on the streets of India. She had to fight off monkeys and other dogs while trying to get food in a very hostile environment where people were trying to kill her because she was pregnant. My foster friends rescued her just in time and now she is in the land of opportunities with two of her puppies. Mammy will need to be the only dog in the house as she is scared of other dogs, and of cars in particular, due to people trying to run her down in India. She is ready to please, play, go for a walk, or just sit on the couch watching TV while chewing a Yak Cheese Chew, or any treat. She can be a finicky eater, and does not like dry food mixed with wet food. She needs a quiet home with a loving patient family that is able to understand her background. As a result of her experience on the streets, she shows some sign of PTSD as she is afraid of loud noise, screaming and hard environments. Mammy’s dream home will be with a nice quiet lady or mellow gentleman able to provide love, reassurance and trust in her new life. Namaste! Mammy Chikki's Profile Age: 5 years Weight: 32 pounds Good with kids: No Good with dogs: No Good with cats: No Fenced yard required: Yes Suitable for townhouse and/or apartment: I could live in a townhouse, but not an apartment. House trained: Yes. Crate trained: Yes Barks when left alone: No Chews inappropriate items: No Activity level: Low I need an experienced adopter. Mammy Chikki is a courtesy post and not affiliated with our organization. To learn more about her or arrange to meet her, please call or text Morella at (415) 858-9731 or visit the website downwardfacing.dog.

Story
Sable is the definition of a lovable Lab—big, goofy, and full of heart. At 64 pounds, he’s equal parts playful and affectionate, with a silly personality that shines through in everything he does. He’ll greet you with joyful leaps, happily accept any treat, and then roll right over for belly rubs. Whether it’s a walk, a car ride, or just hanging out together, Sable is always ready for his next adventure with you. He already knows “sit” and is eager to keep learning, especially with a little help on leash manners. Sable came to PAW from an overcrowded shelter in South Carolina, where he spent far too much time in a kennel. Now that he’s getting a taste of freedom, he’s ready to blossom with a patient, loving home that can give him the exercise, structure, and encouragement he deserves. Sable is a quiet companion who isn’t much of a barker and settles nicely back into his kennel after walks. He’s smart, trainable, and would thrive in a home with a fenced yard where he can stretch his legs and enjoy being a dog. Most of all, Sable is just looking for someone to love—and he has plenty of that to give in return. PAW adopts in the MD, VA, DC, and northern PA region ##2683905##

Story
*** Courtesy Post *** Rocco is a rockstar! He is a super snuggler, playful, easygoing, outgoing, loyal, energetic, affectionate, adventurous, mischievous, and adaptable. Rocco has been with City Dogs Rescue DC  for 1.5 years, and now a part of our Foster 2 Adopt program! If you think Rocco will be a great fit for your family, you can become his foster. When you inevitably fall in love, and want to make him a part of your family forever, we'll waive your adoption fee! Rocco is 5 years old and energetic! He will (a) never say no to a walk, (b) happily greets people (c) is good with kids, and (d) shockingly enjoys spending time in his den/crate when you aren't around! When we say we aren't sure why Rocco hasn't been adopted after being with us for over a year, we really mean it! Rocco is truly a wonderful canine companion. One thing we love most about Rocco is his adaptable nature. He is happy to match your energy level, whether you're seeking a playful companion or a laid-back snuggle buddy. Time for a walk or play session - he's down to clown. Wanna snuggle up and watch a Rom-Com? He's all yours. Did I mention he's great with kids? That really cannot be overlooked! In addition to Rocco being house trained and crate trained, he already knows the words "off," “no,” "sit," and "crate". Rocco loves his chew toys, loves walks with you, and wants nothing more than to finally settle into his forever family. While Rocco has canine friends (from a Great Dane to a Toy Poodle) he has been known to be a little choosy with dogs, so our volunteers will work closely with potential adopters to help match him with a canine pal. If you're ready to meet your best friend, he just might be the match for you. To meet Rockstar Rocco, email: Nell.p@citydogsrescuedc.org  or call: (267) 431-0809. ##2677256##

Story
Meet Darling Bobby – a big SMUSH wanting to give you kisses!! **SENIOR** This sweet boy is a gentle soul who wants a home (and people) to call his own.  He LOVES people!  He is a volunteer favorite - all he wants is to give love and kisses to all people - kids included. If you want a well trained dog who can relax in the home and needs a relatively low level of exercise - consider the Bobster!  Bobby is 6 years old and only 60 pounds.  He is housetrained, crate trained, and knows many commands such as “sit,” “stay,” “down,” and “wait.”  He has been attending class to learn how to walk better on the leash and ignore distractions - and he has been a star student!   Good boy Bobby enjoys playing in a yard and is an expert at fetch - sometimes with more than one ball at a time - and sometimes he doesn’t want to give them up (check out his video).  He is quite the snuggle bunny and will follow you around the house and patiently wait for you to give him attention.  He also loves to keep you company for car rides and walks in the woods or around a lake where he can sniff all the smells and dream of catching squirrels. PAW is committed to helping Bobby transition smoothly and will support his adopter with training to set him up for success. We think Bobby would do best in a single family home with a yard as the only dog.  If you have room for this sweet boy apply today! ##1127125##

Story
Honey lives up to her name—sweet, lovable, and impossible not to adore. This 33-pound beauty from South Carolina is a kennel favorite thanks to her joyful personality and affectionate nature. She greets everyone like a long-lost friend, full of tail wags, hugs, and kisses, and she’s always ready to make a new best friend. Honey loves to run, play, and romp with other dogs, but she’s just as happy soaking up attention from her people. She’s a great mix of fun and cuddly—whether she’s hopping along happily on a walk or leaning in for belly rubs and ear scratches. Her soft coat, adorable floppy ears (sometimes one up, one down!), and a little white patch on her neck make her just as cute as she is charming. She already knows “sit,” walks nicely on leash, and is eager to learn more—especially if treats are involved (which she loves!). Honey is smart and attentive, and with a little guidance, she’ll pick up new skills quickly. She enjoys taking in the world around her on walks, stopping to sniff and occasionally letting out a bark to say hello. Honey understands that outside is the place to go potty, she is a polite greeter of canine friends, and she is an enthusiastic playmate of dogs and humans alike. She rides well in the car, loves adventures, and is always ready to go wherever you are. She would make a great hiking buddy and would love a pup cup after a strenuous workout with you! (Check out the video below of her enjoying her FIRST pup cup!) Honey is a wonderful, happy young dog who would thrive in a foster or forever home where she can continue to learn, play, and be loved. She’s ready to brighten someone’s life—don’t miss your chance to meet her! PAW adopts in the MD, northern VA, DC and northern PA region ##2683899##
