Story
Breed(s): Labrador Retriever/German Shepherd Mix Age: 3 years Weight: 65 pounds Vetting Status: Neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, heartworm negative & maintained on preventatives. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Looking for a dog that is all about YOU? A best friend, a loyal companion? Trevor may just be your guy! This handsome, eager to please fella was found as a stray, completely emaciated. He gained over 25 pounds and looks like a completely different dog! Trevor is crate trained, but much prefers having less restrictions and more freedom. His house manners have been stellar in his foster home -- no accidents or incidents. Trevor loves people, a love bug that wants to be the center of someone's world! Hanging out and being in your presence & playing with his K-9 companions fulfills his days. Stuffed Kongs are certainly on the favorites list too. This sweet boy is a highly intelligent and rapidly picked up on learning an array of commands to include sit, lay, paw, kennel, down and no. Trevor also enjoys going for a car ride & will gladly offer to ride shot gun on all your important trips... petstore, mcd's, bank with a drive thru giving out cookies, etc. Trevor has been exposed to a vast array of other dogs, both big & small. He would love to have K-9 companions, but surely would not argue with being a SHD (single hound dog) & the center of attention. Cats seem super fun to chase (eek!) and would NOT be recommended. If you think Trevor may be the pup for you, please visit the link below to fill out an application. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ TREVOR is available for adoption through K-9 Rescue of the Eastern Shore. An adoption process is required to include filling out an online adoption application available at the following link -- https://www.k9rescuees.org/info/adoption Veterinary and personal reference checks, and a home visit/meet-n-greet are required PRIOR to being approved to adopt. The time frame for completing this process depends largely on how quickly references respond, your vet office is able to speak to us (some want written permission first), your landlord or HOA (if applicable) confirms their approval for a pet, & how your schedule aligns with that of our volunteer(s) for the Home Visit. ~~~~~~~~~~ PLEASE NOTE ~ All of our rescue members are volunteers with many obligations. While we may not be capable of immediate response, we will respond to all inquiries and application submissions as soon as possible. Thank you for thinking adoption!

Story
Duchess was initially adopted by our family in 2018. The local shelter was unable to determine her age or specific breed (at the time they said she was approx. 5 and a lab mix). She is such a sweet girl. Cuddly, loving, and sticks to you like glue. As she gets older, Duchess is requiring more affection and attention and unfortunately we are unable to provide her with the time and care she is so deserving of. My husband just started a new job and I am currently working full time and in school. Duchess knows all of the commands, sit, lay down, paw, speak, etc. She is super smart and very attentive. Unfortunately, in our experience, Duchess does not do well with other dogs, but she is amazing with kids that want to love on her. I am extremely sad to have to rehome our girl, but I am willing to keep an open relationship with her adopter. I would love to pet sit and receive updates as Duchess will surely missed. We want her to be well taken care of and spoiled like she needs to be.

McMuffin is a lovely female Labrador Retriever mix, and she's got the energy of a firework ready to burst! Her absolute favorite snack? Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. This is a courtesy posting. Please call 410-627-6563 for information. Moose McDougal (Moose, Gary Moosie), Retriever Mix, 2 yo in October 2024, 65 lbs Moose McDougal, the humble dog overflowing with personality. He’s spectacular. He is house and crate trained. He knows basic commands and walks well on a leash. Smarts? Yes! He has brains and beauty. You can get him to do anything for a treat! Good with other dogs? We are so happy to add to Moose’s bio that he could live with another dog. He made fast friends with another foster dog who is smaller and female. He does not need a doggie friend but he has truly enjoyed making a new friend. Favorite things? RUNNING! Investigating! Playing with other dogs. Cutie will play ball by himself by throwing the ball in the air with a flick of his head. No words for the goofiness on display. Personality? Goofy. Caring. Independent. Curious. Background? Moose was adopted as a pup when his original owners were visiting Turks & Caicos. He was brought back to NYC. The bustling city life was not his style. He’s meant to be running free in a yard and not stressed by strangers coming at him from every angle. Ideal Family? Moose needs an adult-only, quiet home. New people scare him. He warms up over time after he feels safe. Totally do-able with patience. Ask us about him getting acquainted with his dog walker. <3 Ideal Home? Give this speedster a good, fenced yard where he can fulfill his fantasy of being the graceful, Axis deer, running through endless fields. We have one strict requirement for Moose’s adoptive family. They must agree to continue his persona of Moose McDougal, investigative reporter, complete with a very specific voice. Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 28, 2024, 5:47 pm

Chesney's guardian explains why she has made the decision to rehome him:  A family friend adopted Chesney and subsequently another puppy and it proved too much for Chesney, so his current guardians are temporarily fostering him during the rehome search. BITE INCIDENT:  More than 10 days ago, in Bel Air, MD, Chesney bit a human family member.  The bite broke the skin but medical attention was not required.  While Chesney was sleeping on his place board, someone reached over to grab something which startled him.  He also guards his resources, so he's snapped on previous occasions. Chesney's guardian states the following regarding children:  Chesney hasn't lived with children, so his guardian doesn't recommend his living with children, stating "He is neutral." DISCLOSURE: The adoptable pets in our program are still in the care and custody of owners who wish to re-home their pet. Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Beautiful Wonder is 9yo, weighs 55lbs, is spayed, is up to date on her vaccines, and is microchipped.  Wonder's guardian states:   "If you’re a dog person, and you want ONE dog, I have no doubt that Wonder will make a great pet. If you are aware of her vulnerability, which is that she can be reactive to certain dogs when they pass by on leash, you can manage her by keeping her focused with a treat or crossing to the other side of the street from the dog. You just need to pay attention.   Wonder is a very loyal, loving companion. She likes to curl up at your feet when you’re working, reading, or watching a movie. Sometimes she’ll put her head in your lap, look up at you, and want pets. She loves to give kisses and receive pets, pats, and scratches. She likes it when you talk to her. When you have guests, she is eager to greet everyone. She likes to be with you, and will usually lay nearby wherever you are. We haven’t allowed her on the couch, but we can tell she would love an invitation.   She likes to howl with the fire trucks. She has a youthful spirit and she is very playful - easy to get excited to play - throwing the stick, or a ball. She likes to swim, and will retrieve a retrieval toy from a stream or even from the ocean. She enjoys walks in the park, and foraging off-leash in parks when it’s allowed. She loves to walk with you or ride in the car - but she will ask you to partially roll the window down so she can do the dog thing and hang her head out of the window. She prefers walks to just being left to herself in a fenced yard. She doesn’t chew or destroy things. We think she would be happiest being the only pet in the house.   She does a special trick, in addition to “roll over”. If you ask her to sit, place a treat on her forehead and ask her to “wait”, she will look up at you with her beautiful eyes, and when you say “okay”, she’ll let the treat fall on the floor and eat it. She is nuts over pizza, but we don’t indulge her. She gets a crust as a reward sometimes."  Wonder's guardian explains why she has made the decision to rehome her:  Wonder has become increasingly needy for her guardian and jealous, but not to the point of hostility, with kittens being fostered in the household and her feline siblings.  She's even become agitated to the point she barks when her guardians are away, which alerts and/or concerns the neighbors.  Therefore, she would most likely be better off in a household as the only pet. Wonder's guardian states the following regarding children:  Although Wonder hasn't lived with children, her guardian recommends her living with children, stating "She isn't provoked by children; she is curious and friendly".  Wonder's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Wonder hasn't lived with dogs, so her guardian doesn't recommend her living with dogs, stating "Wonder is reactive to other dogs.  Some more than others.  She can pull pretty hard when on leash and provoked by a dog.  She has been able to take walks alongside other dogs.  She becomes reactive when they share space, though".   Wonder's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Although Wonder lives with cats, her guardian doesn't recommend her living with cats, stating "She needs to be fed separately; she's a resource guarder.  She would prefer to get all the attention; she doesn't want attention going to the cats.  She's not angry or violent about it; she just pushes her way into the interaction". Wonder's guardian describes her as: Very active Couch potato Playful Friendly Likes to be touched Affectionate Indoor dog Nervous House-Trained Crate-Trained Likes men Likes women Wonder's guardian describes her ideal future home:  " Someone or a family that wants an affectionate dog that is also playful. A family that wants a well trained dog that loves people and attention.   Wonder knows a number of tricks.   She would not be a good candidate for a home with another dog. While she gets along with some dogs she can be very dog reactive. She has lived with cats, however expect the occasional normal cat dog conflict She would probably be best as the only pet." Owners have enlisted Rescue Well to provide marketing and screening of applicants as a service, free of charge. All fees and adoption conditions are determined by the owner. We advise that adopters do not send payment or deposits for pets prior to adopting.  ***** Handsome Emerson is 1.5yo, weighs 70lbs, is neutered, is up to date on his vaccines, and is not microchipped.  Emerson has participated in extensive training and knows 'sit', 'stay', 'wait', 'come', 'heel', 'speak', 'down', 'stand', and 'break'. Emerson's guardian explains why she has made the difficult decision to rehome him:   "Due to moments of unpredictable intensity over the last year, we believe Emerson would do better in a home without young children. I have put in hundreds of hours of training with him and consulted professional trainers. The general consensus is that while we believe his select behaviors are “fixable” (we have seen results), he most likely will never be a dog that can be trusted 100% with young children. Although day-to-day Emerson does very well with kids, he shouldn't be in a home with young children due to very occasional unpredictable behavior. I am happy to share openly the issues that lead us to believe he's not safe to live with young children to who ever is interested." Emerson's guardian offers a brief medical history:  "Lyme disease - no need to treat.  Fine now." Emerson's guardian states the following regarding children:  Emerson lives with a 2yo child, but his guardian doesn't recommend his living with young children, stating "He has done well!  Though he's very excitable, so can often be too much for kids.". Emerson's guardian states the following regarding dogs:  Emerson doesn't live with dogs, but his guardian recommends his living with dogs, stating "He loves visiting other dogs.  Occasionally, he'll meet one he doesn't like.  However, overall he likes the majority of them.  He tries to play". Emerson's guardian states the following regarding cats:  Emerson doesn't live with cats and has not otherwise been around cats, so his guardian doesn't know how he will react in their presence and doesn't recommend his living with cats. Cause I am NOT old, although I am Yeller, a really pretty YELLER COLOR!!! :) I am a Yeller Chesapeake bay retriever/ YELLER lab mix, it is important for my new family to know about the Chesapeake bay breed. We can be very stubborn, smart and independent and I really like to be in charge, so my new family needs to be strong leaders too. I am a handsome bloke, with swirls of yellow and white all through my coat. I am very smart and very sweet. I can from a high kill shelter with no hope- Now I EXUDE hope!! And LOVE!!! I WAS heartworm positive but have already finished the treatment and am NEGATIVE and just stay on prevention for the rest of my life. I am good with other dogs, but really would be best in an only dog home, cause I want all the attention :) I LOVE MY people and I tend to take "control" of my home so have to have a couple of things... 1) STRONG leadership owner, 2) I have to have an owner who will be wiling to not let me meet everyone who visits.. I want to protect my home a little too much... and 3) I have to stay in the San Antonio/TX area so my rescue friends can keep close tabs on me and how i am doing :) I have been running and playing since I am safe, but really am a couch potato. I am a bigger boy and about 65-70#. Look me up, get my number, text or call me OR just APPLY to ADOPT ME!!! I will be waiting by the phone!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX)
