Story

Mammy Chikki is a very sweet dog who had a very rough time on the streets of India. She had to fight off monkeys and other dogs while trying to get food in a very hostile environment where people were trying to kill her because she was pregnant. My foster friends rescued her just in time and now she is in the land of opportunities with two of her puppies. Mammy will need to be the only dog in the house as she is scared of other dogs, and of cars in particular, due to people trying to run her down in India. She is ready to please, play, go for a walk, or just sit on the couch watching TV while chewing a Yak Cheese Chew, or any treat. She can be a finicky eater, and does not like dry food mixed with wet food. She needs a quiet home with a loving patient family that is able to understand her background. As a result of her experience on the streets, she shows some sign of PTSD as she is afraid of loud noise, screaming and hard environments. Mammy’s dream home will be with a nice quiet lady or mellow gentleman able to provide love, reassurance and trust in her new life. Namaste! Meet Bebe! She’s proof positive that you’re never too old to begin a new chapter. This darling girl finds herself looking for a new home because her owner is terminally ill and closest family members are allergic. At 9-10 years old and dramatically overweight, this poses a bit of a challenge. But here's the good news, our Bebe is full of light and love and ENERGY. So we're looking at her current situation like a caterpillar in a cocoon just waiting to come out and fly. Her theme song is Patti LaBelle’s “New Attitude.” (We hope that doesn’t date us.) Currently she's a 40lb dog stuck inside a 65lb body and she's eager to shed the excess weight and start this next phase of her life. She has Cushings disease and will need to continue her medication to control it. Bebe has good house manners and has left most things alone. She plays with toys if you'll play with her and lives for belly rubs. She knows basic commands but can also be a little headstrong. She LOVES her walks or even just time meandering around the backyard. As the weight is falling off, she’s also starting zooms around the house and lots of play time. She’s definitely feeling herself! She is 99% house trained but has had a few accidents from stress. She wants to know where you are in the house and if she can't find you, she may stress pee. This has been mitigated by talking to her from wherever I am. She is also crate trained. She does well with most other dogs so far. She’s generally fine with them until they gruff at her. She’s a bit alpha in her play so would recommend pairing her with a more submissive dog. I’m excited to get to know her more and for you to join us on this journey. We'll be highlighting her weight loss journey along the way, which will be great for us both! Adopt playful, loyal Bucky! He is a 4 year old Labrador/Plott hound (best guess – we really don’t know what he is!) who is extremely affectionate with people and eager to please. He plays well with other dogs and is gentle with people. He knows “sit”, “down”, “paw” commands and is easy to walk with! He likes peanut butter, blow drying after bathes, playing with other dogs, surprising squirrels during walks, chewing on toys/bones, and curling up on the couch for movie nights. He is very goofy and has a Labrador’s easy-going attitude! He dislikes being left alone in new environments and will bark to let you know it. He is crate trained. Meet Clover! She is a 10 month old lab/shepard/mix that is spayed, crate trained and potty trained! She was adopted in Southern Cali at 8 weeks old. She now lives in Maryland. The reason we are wanting to rehome her is because she has shown "stranger danger" reactivity from a pretty young age. Clover also has occasionally shown some resource guarding. We have 3 young kids at home who she is good with but she has started fights with our other dog over food and we're afraid someone will get hurt. We really don't want to relinquish her to the shelter as she wouldn't do well there. If you're a dog savy person Clover could really flourish in a different environment. She chases our cats at home occasionally but not aggressive at all. She sleeps on our bed most nights and really is a wonderful girl but we just have exhausted what we can do for her and think she deserves a real chance!

R.J. is a 1 1/2 year old pure bred black lab. He is beautiful and nearly a 100 pound. He is fully house trained and kennel trained. We picked him out of a litter of puppies from a family in Pennsylvania through greenfieldpuppies.com I have trained him to do many things but unfortunately I have been unsuccessful training him to be more gentle with our 4 year old twins outside. I was hoping he would grow out of it but because of his size he can not be trusted to not play to rough with my 4 year olds when playing outside. I don't have any problems with him playing outside with our 10 and 12 year old. Overall He is very energetic and mostly gentle with a big heart. He is a very protective dog. He scares easily. He will raise his hair and bark aggressively but would never bite or hurt anyone. He loves to take walks. Because of his size and his pulling we use a special non pull harness. R.J. Is very loyal and loving and we want to find him a good home.
