Story
Laika is officially up for adoption here in Maine! If you remember our post, she was the dog that came from the vet’s office. The office where her owner brought her to be euthanized because one of their cats was no longer with them because of her (unsure how involved she was). As a back story, she lived with 5 other dogs. She wasn’t brought out a whole lot, and based upon her behavior…no one ever spent any positive time with her. When she first arrived, she was TERRIFIED. She bolted every second there was a sound. She had a harness and super tight collar on for the first week she was with us. She cowered ALL THE TIME. Fast forward to today. She is spayed and up to date with shots. She is still very timid. She has connected with me, and looks for me. She wags the tip of her tail. She wiggles now and bounces. She looks at things instead of bolting. I can take her out with a slip lead. She cuddles. It is now time for her to have a real home. Us keeping her isn’t an option as she needs so much more than a rescue home can give her. She needs to be loved. She needs to know that there are still good people in the world. She needs someone who will walk with her or spend time in a secured yard. She needs someone that can just hang out with her, teach her. Other dogs are still touch and go. After what she has been through, it’s understandable. Because she is 2 years old, there is so much growth that can happen if someone puts the time in. Absolutely no cats, no small animals, no small dogs period. No aggression behavior towards people has been shown.

Story
Meet Ziggy! Ziggy is a playful, energetic pup with a big heart! He absolutely loves his Nylabones and will happily chew away while waiting for his next adventure. Though he can be a little unsure at first, once he warms up, he’s all about hugs, kisses, and tail wags!Ziggy is looking for an active family who can keep up with his zest for life. He would thrive as the only pet in the home, where he can soak up all the love and attention. Because of his bouncy personality, he’d do best with respectful kids 8+ who are comfortable with an enthusiastic, affectionate dog.To ensure the perfect match, we kindly ask that the whole family come in to meet Ziggy before he heads to his forever home. Could Ziggy be the missing piece to your family? Come meet this lovable boy today!

Story
Sorrel came to us with his sister Tulip after a tornado caused some pretty significant damage to our town. He was lucky and was not injured like her! Sorrel would be such an awesome dog to train! He’d be a great working dog of some sort! Here he is sitting and waiting before thresholds. While I don’t have the time to do this with every single dog, it’s always amazing when I have time to work with some of them! Sorrel is one of my favorites to train— he’s highly food and toy motivated and learns really fast! I’m NOT a professional dog trainer (as you can see his “heel” isn’t very well-placed) but any kind of basic obedience is better than none! Sorrel can be wild at times, but during our short training sessions, he is always focused and eager to please!! Story
Sharky would love a home where he can spend some time outside with his people! He would do best in a home without cats, but he’s good with other dogs and people. He would love a comfy bed for his nap time and a nice little pool in the summer! But he’s not picky, as long as he’s loved and cared for, he will give that love back tenfold!

Story
Tink tink got his name from the sound of his splint when he walked. He came to us hit by a car, and he is now completely healed in every way! WHY IS OUR SWEET TINKTINK STILL HERE?! Tink Tink is the goodest boy you can find. He’s great with other dogs and loves people. He is the perfect balance of active and chill— he would love to go out hiking or to have a lazy day! He’s often overlooked because of his “plain” appearance, but he is anything but. He’s so loving and loves everyone he meets, and also has a silly side that will brighten up your days! He’s a friend to strangers, but his person will have his complete heart. He’s great on and off leash and LOVES being dressed up for the camera (as you can see.) We do prefer Tink Tink goes to a home with no cats, as he’s shown some prey drive towards them. But he’s eager to please and is so easy to work with. Please share Tink Tink to find his person— he’s been waiting too long! If you are interested in fostering or adopting Tinktink, please email wynnefoa@gmail.com

Story
Black Dog and Mystery need a home where their special bond will be accepted with open arms! They are a bonded pair that must stay together! Mystery, as her name implies, baffles us with her odd ways and behaviors. Though she loves our company and spending quality time with us, she doesn’t like physical affection and is terrified in new situations. Black Dog is her rock. They spend every moment together. Black Dog is a lazy guy, though he loves leisurely walks and exploring. Mystery is a bit more active and playful— she LOVES playing fetch! Black Dog does need a healthier diet and exercise balance that is hard to require in a shelter. We are trying though! Though Mystery is odd, she’s such a great dog and will make you laugh! These two have a lot of love to give and are waiting for their home. If you are interested in fostering or adopting Black Dog and Mystery, please email wynnefoa@gmail.com We'd prefer them to be the only dogs in the home just because they share such a strong bond!
