Valerie is a gentle soul with a demure charm that wins hearts wherever she goes. Whether it’s a cozy night in or a playful afternoon outside, Valerie is happiest when she’s part of the action. She’s looking for a forever home where she can be loved, included, and appreciated for the affectionate, joyful pup she is. Story
Meet Stewie!Stewie is an active, enthusiastic young guy who’s ready to find a home where he can keep building on the great training he’s started here at KVHS. He’s a fast learner, especially when treats are involved—food is a big motivator for him! Stewie adores playing fetch (ball is absolutely life), and he’s always eager for the next fun activity.Stewie will thrive with someone who can provide routine, structure, and continued manners and leash training. He would do best in a home with dog-savvy cats—he may try to chase them—and with children 11+ due to his high energy and occasional jumpiness.Because he can be possessive of food and treats, Stewie needs to be the only dog in the home. That said, he may be open to having dog friends he can hang out with outside the home.If you’re looking for a smart, energetic, treat-motivated companion who’s ready to learn and loves to play, Stewie might be your perfect match!

Story
Radar is a Lab/Hound mix coming to us from the south, and he is one seriously impressive pup. He and his buddy Chip were part of a federal training program, where they learned 16 commands — even though they didn’t ultimately complete the program, they still came away with an amazing foundation of training and skills. Radar is an extremely smart, eager-to-learn boy who thrives with structure and engagement. He’s the kind of dog who loves having a job to do and a person to focus on. He will be arriving in Maine on January 11th, and he’s already looking forward to meeting the family who will give him the loving forever home he deserves. If you’re looking for a loyal, intelligent companion who’s ready to impress you every day, Radar may be your perfect match 🤍 If you’re interested in meeting Radar, please complete an adoption application. Story
***Foster-to-adopt eligible***Meet Momo, Momo is a goofy, outgoing and social guy looking for a low to medium energy household with children 8 years old and up. . Don`t feel like getting dragged around on the other end of the leash? Momo is your guy. He likes to walk with you, or to happily follow his nose. Momo is also a fetch afficionado, he just doesn`t totally get the part where he has to bring the ball back to you to throw it again. Momo likes to please his person, but if you`re training with treats he can be a little rude at times, barking to tell you to give him the treat already! This handsome man is housetrained and hasn`t shown any separation anxiety in his previous home. He is the best boy looking to be the star animal of your home. If you are interested in meeting Momo, please bring all family members to meet him.

Story
Laika is officially up for adoption here in Maine! If you remember our post, she was the dog that came from the vet’s office. The office where her owner brought her to be euthanized because one of their cats was no longer with them because of her (unsure how involved she was). As a back story, she lived with 5 other dogs. She wasn’t brought out a whole lot, and based upon her behavior…no one ever spent any positive time with her. When she first arrived, she was TERRIFIED. She bolted every second there was a sound. She had a harness and super tight collar on for the first week she was with us. She cowered ALL THE TIME. Fast forward to today. She is spayed and up to date with shots. She is still very timid. She has connected with me, and looks for me. She wags the tip of her tail. She wiggles now and bounces. She looks at things instead of bolting. I can take her out with a slip lead. She cuddles. It is now time for her to have a real home. Us keeping her isn’t an option as she needs so much more than a rescue home can give her. She needs to be loved. She needs to know that there are still good people in the world. She needs someone who will walk with her or spend time in a secured yard. She needs someone that can just hang out with her, teach her. Other dogs are still touch and go. After what she has been through, it’s understandable. Because she is 2 years old, there is so much growth that can happen if someone puts the time in. Absolutely no cats, no small animals, no small dogs period. No aggression behavior towards people has been shown.

Story
Stanley has been with us since he was a small puppy! He will need a special home with gentle love to give, as he is very scared in new situations. He loves people and is good with other dogs! He loves being outside and going on walks around our facility. We are working on leash training him, but as of now he’s quite scared to have a leash on. Stanley is good motivated and is super smart and eager to please. He loves playing in the water and just spending time with people. He’s medium energy and would make an amazing hiking partner! Stanley is a loving, loyal boy and he can’t wait to find his home! If you are interested in fostering or adopting Stanley, email wynnefoa@gmail.com
