Story
Peanut is a senior 9ish year old, Lab/Golden mix at about 75ish lbs who was literally "left with the house" when his so-called people, sold their house... they just abandoned him. He went to a shelter for 2 months and they said that he was exceptionally friendly, loves other dogs and passed the cat test with flying colors. (GRRAND has not cat tested him) We are so happy that Peanut went to a foster home and this is what they say: Hi, I’m Peanut! Though I’m more like a Brazil nut! (haha doggie humor!) 'cause I’m a big boy but a good one! I love to eat…but treats…I don’t like them, I LOVE them! When I was at the shelter, I was that dog sitting in the corner of my kennel waiting to be noticed. All the other dogs were barking “PICK ME! PICK ME! and they were picked - over me. (sigh) Just because my muzzle may be a bit gray, or my eyes not as bright or my gait not as gingerly, I got passed over again and again. And then, I got SO LUCKY and someone took me into their home from the GRRAND rescue. Now in my foster home, I go readily into my big kennel. Then when it’s time to go outside, I like to run around the yard and then lay down on my doggie bed under the deck. When inside I will nudge you to be petted, take treats easy from your hand, sit on command, and go lay down when it’s time to. I am learning “Wait” and “Stay.” And I know that “No” means “No”!I walk easy on a leash and love to ride in the car and put my muzzle out the back window. When I am at home and not sleeping, my eyes and ears are attentive to what my foster mom is doing, hoping she will include me. I look forward to having a loving furever family and I will be their buddy and they will be my whole world!Find me on GRRAND’s website - again hoping that someone will PICK ME! PICK ME"! If you would like to meet Peanut, and give this deserving boy a loving home forever, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org ##1953019##

Story
Doc is a beautiful 4 year old, 100+ish lb Labrador who is hanging out at the GRRAND kennel waiting for his forever family and we can't understand why he hasn't been snapped up and adopted and in his new forever home yet! He cannot go to a home with children, so he is looking for an adult only dog savvy home, and we believe at this time, he needs to be the only pet in the home. He demonstrates all of the usual Lab behaviors; he loves to fetch, swim, and climb on you and park his 100+ lbs body on your lap! He lights up when he sees someone familiar and gives such an awesome welcome; the volunteers at the kennel just love him to bits and can't say enough great things about him. He is a big boy and we have him on a diet right now and he is getting lots of exercise. He has been swimming every day and we are working on his leash manners as he pulls hard - he loves to lunge at squirrels when we go walking. He seems to like the more passive girl dogs than the boys, and we are working on him taking treats from our hand less enthusiastically! The kennel staff says "He is doing well at the kennel. He loves attention and to be petted. We are still learning about Doc so please check back in a couple of weeks for more info on this handsome guy"!  If interested, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org ##2000231##

Story
Roger is an 8 year old, 75ish lb Lab mix who is sadly looking for a home where he can spend his senior years! His owner has health issues which are causing the sad decision to rehome Roger. He needs a home with no kids under the age of 16, as he tends to be a resource guarder when he has something in his mouth and someone tries to get it from him, so dog savvy owners would be best for this handsome boy. His people say  "We really want Roger to go to a good family that can love him and give him the proper care and exercise he truly needs and wants. We had to downsize and now we don't have a fenced yard for him to run around in, so he is full of energy and we cannot get out with him the way he needs and he does not get many walks. He really needs a yard to run in, with space to spread out, be free and play, and we can not provide that for him. On walks, he can bark at the wildlife, and cars and bikes, so we all really miss the fenced yard we used to have for him". His people also tell GRRAND: "He is a sweet dog and just loves to be around me, loves to get affection and be petted, and follows me from room to room! Roger lets me know when people are at the house because he gets so excited and he barks a bit when they come in, but settles down quickly and melts into the background after about 5 minutes. He is very well house trained and has never had an accident in the house, and he will bark and let me know when he needs to go out or when he needs/wants something".  He used to have a doggie companion who passed away and he is said to miss his friend and is lonely. Story
This is Kiley... She is a 2.5 year old, lovely, sweet and beautiful Yellow Lab at about 70ish lbs. She is in a new foster home now that she is healed from her ACL surgery and they say: Kylie is doing AMAZING and is ready for adoption as she is all healed from surgery and ready to go!! She is such a happy girl with a strong lab tail. Kiley is great with all ages of people and loves every dog she sees. She’s a very beautiful girl and she’s a fast learner. With everyday we have had her, she is improving on pulling while going on walks. She now knows that she needs to be by my left side, on a four foot leash. She loves to sit for a treat, using either voice or hand command. She is eager to learn and will follow you around off leash, once familiar with you. Labradors are just amazing companions!!! Her recall is great and that’s a big one!! Our resident dog and her are best buds, they love to play and hang out, and she would love to have a friend like this at her new home too!  Kiley, is NOT a candidate for apartment living, so will need to go to a home where if she barks because her people left, won't be a problem, and she needs to have a fenced in yard. She gets along with other dogs, and does fine with kids. She had spent time with a 6 year old, and she had no issues whatsoever. She also lived with a cat that she was curious about at first but only in the sense of " hey... what’s that"?  They coexisted just fine... hung out in the same room, sniffed each other, and even drank out of the same water bowl! She does not mind the crate, except when left home. When her foster mom is home, she will occasionally sleep in it, but when her foster mom leaves, she coaxes her with a good treat, and gives her a little "love nudge" to go in. It is thought early on, that she is more attached to her people than her 4-legged friends, and if you are home more than not, THAT'S a PERFECT thing for Kiley! If you would like to help GRRAND with her vet bills from her ACL surgery, please visit the critical care page on grrand.org. We will update on her recovery, and appreciate any help you can give! If you would like to be considered for Kiley, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org ##2081513##

Story
Mikey is an 8 year old, 80ish lb Labrador mix who is sadly looking for a new home as his devoted dad is very sick and his only worry is his best boy Mikey.  He says: "He is well loved, mild mannered and well-behaved and is just happy to be alive. I really wish for him to have a good home. He is a loving and loyal dog. He loves to be petted. He is even tempered. In fact, we have a little Maltese who tried to start a fight with Mikey, and he just stares at him and walks away. He doesn't growl or bark. He is a little awkward cause he has big feet and when he tried to jump, sometimes he trips over his own feet but that's his only flaw. He walks right by your side and comes to a call or whistle. He is not an alpha male. He is extremely afraid of storms, though. If he is outside, he really wants to come inside when it is storming. But he is happy to sit quietly if someone pets him and keeps him calm. We don't have children around, so I can only guess since he's good with everyone but we do not know. He is totally unaware of the dangers of cars and he should be kept in a fenced area. He has no concept of the dangers of the road. He was a rescue so we have no idea what his life was like before last year, but he is a lovable dog who is just happy to be alive. He is well loved and it breaks my heart to let him go but I just can't take care him and he needs a loving home". Mikey is in a foster home and they say "He LOVES to be loved and is a gentle giant! He gets along well with our two other dogs and will play with them in very short spurts. He is very laid back. I work from home most of the week and he will lay on his bed by my desk while I do. We think Mikey would do best in a home with no kids under the age of 10. He is totally house broken. He has free roam of the house 24/7 and has not made any messes. He goes to sleep as soon as the sun goes down and sleeps until it comes back up". We are still learning more about Mikey, but if you would like to meet him, please fill out an app at GRRAND.org ##2130286##

Story
A beacon of hope shines bright as GRRAND and animal advocates across the commonwealth collaborate to help rescue animals trapped in a devastating hoarding situation on a rural County Kentucky farm. Advocates eagerly await justice for the abused animals and the swift rescue of those still suffering in inhumane conditions.  It's awful to think of the terrible lives and abuse they have been subjected to. A litter of 4 week old puppies were found on the property and all had to be treated at the Emergency Vet for Parvo to save their lives and sadly, one did not make it. We have extremely high vet expenses for these dogs and really need ongoing donations to pay for all their care and we are also in desperate need of foster homes for these dogs.  As we continue to assess the individual needs of these deserving animals, additional information to come, so please check back for more updates... This is Ruby and she will need a home with an above ground securely fenced yard as she has ever been on leash and remains very fearful of people and is considered a flight risk at this time. ##2190863##
