Story
Ladies and Gentlemen - Domino "Never have to worry about what is worst or what is best" Oh oh Domino Domino was found as a stray and never claimed. He was born in March of 2022 - we think :) He is an 80 lb Lab mixed with an energetic goofball. He should be fine with older kids and adults. He isn't overly fond of the other dogs here, so he might do better as a single dog until he gets used to being in a home setting again. Domino also should be in a cat free home. Domino has a big personality and loves attention, he keeps a clean kennel here, so the transition to home should be easier. Domino really wants a home and a family. Will you come and make his dreams come true? All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only. If you have any questions feel free to send us an email at freeborncohumanesociety@gmail.com, send us a message on Facebook, or call or text 507-377-8501.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sonya came to the shelter from the city pound when her hold was finished and no one had claimed her. She appears to be around a year old and looks like a black lab/pit bull type mix. There could be some other breeds in there, too. She's very loving and full of enthusiasm. She has been vet checked and spayed and her fee is $150. Sonya does know how to sit (most of the time) but will most likely need some basic training. She is a very energetic young dog who will require regular exercise. We do think she would do best as the only pet in the home, at least until she gets some good training and socialization under her belt. She will need some time to decompress from the shelter environment as it has been causing her a lot of stress. An adult only home would be best (teens are fine). NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Please keep an eye on your emails if you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.December 4, 2024, 10:38 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Tula arrived at our shelter from the city pound on Dec. 1st when her hold time was finished and no one had claimed her. She's a large and robust black lab mix who is as happy and affectionate as she is big. She's 1 to 2 years old and weighs about 75 pounds. She has been vet checked and microchipped and will be spayed on Jan. 8th. Her fee is $150. Tula loves people and will definitely need some basic obedience training and good exercise. She looks like a black lab mixed with some type of larger breed like Great Dane or maybe mastiff. What she might lack in training she makes up for with her happy and loving personality. We think she would do okay with a larger male dog. Cats? We have no way of knowing. Kids over 5 would be best as she's a big gal. Tula has won the hearts of all of us at the shelter! She really is a gem! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org.
