Story
Hey! Danny (DOB 9/21/2020) here! I am Lab/Staffordshire Terrier mix who's looking for a new, active home. I have been with my foster family for a while and whereas they are pretty wonderful, I am ready to leave the nest and find my own place. I am almost 3 years old now and have outgrown the puppy-mouthing phase but still love some one-on-one snuggle time on the couch with my favorite human. My crate is a cool place to hang out in when my foster fam can’t take me in the car with them, especially when I have my special bone or a puzzle to work on to keep me busy. My foster dog siblings are cool to hang out with so a dog brother or sister would be okay although being an only (dog) child would be okay too. I still don’t trust the felines and small humans though so prefer to have none of them around. And I am a little nervous meeting new people and dogs so apartment life still isn’t meant for me. New things can be a little scary but continual self-improvement is a lifelong goal of mine so who wants to learn some new things together? For example, I have learned car rides are fun and there are these things called drive throughs where people hand you yummy treats. I would love to find someone to explore some new places (i.e. drive throughs) with. I love to explore new places on walks too so we can get some exercise in together after visiting the drive throughs. Who's up for some new adventures? Before applying to adopt Danny, you need to be familiar with your local breed-specific legislation regarding Pit Bulls. Applicants must live within 50 miles of the Omaha/Council Bluffs area.  The suggested adoption donation for Danny is $250. We are a 501c3 organization which means that your donation may be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Your donation goes toward the high cost of veterinary care for our animals in rescue, as well as providing supportive services to animals in homes.  Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  If this pet is not spayed or neutered at the time of adoption due to limited vetting availability, a voucher will be given to the adopter for a free spay/neuter procedure at Val Verde Animal Hospital. Spay/neuters completed elsewhere will be reimbursed $80/dog or $55/cat once proof of alteration has been received by Muddy Paws. Alterations are required for all Muddy Paws adoptions. The adoption contract states alters must be done within ONE month of the adoption date or the adopter will be in breach of the contract. Adopters are required to provide proof of alteration to Muddy Paws Rescue immediately following the procedure. Thank you in advance for your compliance. Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each animal, based on the animal’s needs. If you and the animal are not a good match, we will help you select another animal, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months.  To learn about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue or donate to our animals, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com or our Facebook Page.  ##1107116##

Do you have a soft spot for large dogs? Are you fortunate enough to reside on a farm or boast a spacious backyard? Do you relish going on refreshing runs alongside a furry companion or even better, two furry buddies? If that resonates with you, then you've hit the jackpot! Allow me to introduce Berkley, who is bonded with her sister Bella - both delightful Lab/Australian Shepherd mixes! These 7-year-old darlings are in search of a loving home where they can frolic freely, indulge in games of fetch, and cuddle up on cozy nights. Berkley and Bella are affectionate and exuberant dogs that get along well with children, despite their inadvertent tendency to be a bit too boisterous due to their size. Now, here's the catch about Berkley and Bella - they have a mischievous streak! When the opportunity strikes, they seize the chance to dig under the fence and embark on adventurous escapades. (We did mention their love for running around!) Ensuring a highly secure fence is non-negotiable for these two escapologists. Both Berkley and Bella showcase intelligence, are adept at performing various tricks, and derive joy from their shared playtime. The suggested adoption donation for Berkley & Bella together is $500. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2020 alone, we were able to provide animal Healthcare costing over $241,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the animal. Please Note: A Courtesy Post designates that an animal is still in the home of its owner and not in a Muddy Paws foster home. This means that our exposure to the animal is limited since we are only assisting the owner in finding a new home for their pet. If needed, we will put you in touch with the owner if you have questions. Are you a big dog lover? Do you live on a farm or have a big backyard? Do you enjoy going for runs with a furry friend? What about 2 furry friends? If this sounds like you, then, JACKPOT! Meet Bella, bonded with brother Berkley, who are both Lab/Australian Shepherd mixes! These 7-year-old babies are looking for a new home where they can run around all day, play fetch, & get snuggled at night. Both Berkley & Bella are very friendly dogs who do well with kids, they don't always know how big they are and could knock over a tiny human on accident. Here's the thing about Berkley & Bella.. they have been pretty sneaky, and when mom & dad aren't looking, they dig under the fence and take off running. (We DID say they love running around) So, a very secure fence is a MUST with these two. Both of these dogs are very smart and know quite a few tricks, and love playing together. The suggested adoption donation for Berkley & Bella together is $500. Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization which means that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. Story
Greetings from Shadowfax, a Lab mix b. September 2022. He and his brother Strider were rescued from a bad situation and given a chance for a new life. These sweet boys love attention, though they can be shy at first, they warm up quickly and love to give kisses and play. Shadowfax has almost mastered this whole potty training thing! This guy would do best in a home with older kids due to his puppy play style.  An appropriate resident pet would consist of an active dog similar in size to Shadowfax.  These sweet boys cannot wait to find their FURever home to enjoy a nice big fenced-in backyard to run around in. While these brothers will need to go to different homes, they will need another dog in the home to help teach them the ropes! Who is ready for these faster than the wind, survivors to join their fellowship (family)? The suggested adoption donation for Shadowfax is $415, which includes a lifetime of free relationship-based training for any behavioral problems (not obedience training). Muddy Paws is a 501c3 non-profit organization meaning that part of your donation MAY be TAX DEDUCTIBLE. We are a 100% volunteer rescue committed to giving animals a second chance at life. All donations go toward that mission. Adoption fees are the primary source of funding for the cost of veterinary care for our animals.  In 2022 alone, we provided animal Healthcare totaling over $300,000 covered mainly through adoption fees. Alter Agreement:  If the dog or cat you adopt is older than 6 months of age and not spayed or neutered, you will receive a voucher to alter the pet at Val Verde Animal Hospital in Omaha, at no cost to you.  Or you can alter the pet at your own vet and be reimbursed $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, of total cost.  If the dog or cat is younger than 6 months of age, adopter will be responsible for the cost of altering the pet at the vet of their choice.  If proof of alter is received by Muddy Paws prior to the pet turning 6 months of age, a reimbursement of $80 for dogs, and $50 for cats, will be sent to you to help cover expenses. All puppies and kittens MUST be spayed or neutered by 6 months of age.  All dogs and cats MUST be spayed or neutered no later than one month after adoption is finalized. Information about the adoption process: All adoptions require a completed ADOPTION APPLICATION. Once your application has completed our prescreen steps, we will put you in touch with the animal’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match. Here comes Darla, a Lab mix born approximately 4/2013 who is ready for their second chance! Darla is a sweetheart. She gets along with children, dogs big & small, cats & birds. She is housetrained. Charlie is very energetic dog who loves people. He sometimes forgets how big he is and can be a little clumsy. He has had basic training and excels at sitting, staying, shake, and spins. Walks well with a no pull harness however fetch is not his choice of playtime. He’s done well with children around toddler age and above, we just think he needs more attention

The adoption fee is $400 and covers age appropriate vaccines, a microchip, and a spay/neuter.  Applications are typically worked in time stamp order based on date/time of submission.  If you have other dogs in your home, they must all meet the potential adoptee.  It may save you a trip to bring them with you when you visit, if you are certain you want to adopt a new family member. *****We are currently operating by appointment only due to a shortage of personnel.   If you want to meet this pet, or are interested in adopting, please submit an inquiry or email to tchspapillion@gmail.com.  Someone from the rescue will contact you and/or your family and determine, on a broad level, whether you might be a fit for the animal.  If so, they will provide instructions for completing the application. Your application will be reviewed and you will be contacted to set up a time to meet at the shelter or the foster home.   The introduction between you and the pet will be supervised by one of the dog counselors or the foster.   If all goes well, you can adopt during the same visit. Please be sure to follow us on Facebook to learn more about Town and Country Humane Society and our mission. ##2075669##

Story
I LIKE BIG MUTTS AND I CANNOT LIE! What up? The name is Skip, but I spell it $kip. I’m a 2 yr old, 80 lb, housebroken, crate trained, good-lookin’ mutt. Not 1 application has been turned in for me in 7 months though. Ain’t that a bunch of bull! I guess maybe it’s because I don’t like to kick it with other animals too much, but come on, I deserve a forever family too! I don’t need dog parks and play dates, but I’d love a running partner or a fenced in yard…And I don’t mean running from the cops or a fenced in prison yard. I want to sniff all the smells, snuggle with my people, chew all the bones and toys, go for car rides in the Benz, and be a loyal homeboy. I first came to this bada$$ rescue when they saved me and other animals from a hoarding/neglect case in a small Nebraska town. I had lived my whole life outside on a tight chain hooked to a tree…Unfortunately I’m not talking about a gold chain. The chain was basically embedded in my neck and required special equipment to remove. I had several canine siblings at that house who have since all been adopted, but now I’m requesting no more furry siblings for me. I love humans though and I dream about going on adventures with my own someday. I’m a strong guy, so your 92 year old Granny and your newborn baby are probably not great matches for my forever home. No disrespect.  I’ve been neutered, fully vetted and vaccinated, heartworm tested, microchipped, and I’m ready for my happy-ever-after! I would love to share my joy for life with you! My adoption donation fee is $250. Please fill out an application in the drop down menu on our website at: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org PLEASE SUBMIT AN APPLICATION AT: https://havenanimalrescuenebraska.org/adoption-application We do not have a facility. All of our animals are in volunteer foster homes. Once an application is pre-approved (contingent upon a home check) we will contact applicants that are a good match and set up a time for a meet. At that time we are happy to answer all of your questions. No inquiries prior to that please. All of our animals are spayed/neutered, examined by a vet, up-to-date on vaccinations, on heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, and microchipped. We adopt our animals as strictly inside companion pets. We will do a veterinarian reference check and a home safety check. We are located in Omaha, NE and we do not ship our animals. We are all volunteers so please be patient with us. Our requested adoption fees help go towards medical expenses, food, transportation, toys, and other supplies for our animals. We are a state licensed, 501c3 nonprofit rescue and the adoption donation may be tax deductible for you.  Thank you for choosing adoption!! June 30, 2024, 12:11 am

Story
Being a German Shorthair & Hound mix, you can imagine that ol' Oscar is a lover of the outdoors! This sweet boy was born in May of 2015 and is still looking for a place to call his own. Oscar enjoys being around people, especially ladies, but he understands what it's like to need some space: your time, my time, and our time! Oscar experiences anxiety and because of this, boundaries are important to him. When his anxiety is low, Oscar is a goofy, playful boy who likes to chase balls, sticks, and rabbits. He loves, loves, loves long walks with plenty of time to let his hound nose get some exercise, and lots of exercise helps work off that extra energy that can make this handsome boy nervous! Because of his love for exploration, Oscar will need a fenced-in yard to keep him close to home. Oscar is not kennel trained, but is totally fine being left to lounge around the house while you're away; he's also housetrained so no worries about that business! Oscar is a very smart dog who knows "sit", "stay", "lay down", "leave it" and he also knows that when he follows these fun words he gets really yummy treats! Oscar's ideal home will be with an active person/couple who love to explore nature, just like he does, and who will love him like family while respecting his need for boundaries and independence! The suggested adoption donation for Oscar is $315. Once your application is approved, we will put you in touch with the dog’s foster to see if you and the pet are a good match.  If so, we will arrange a meeting for you and the pet.  The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver. Please Note:  We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter.  We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. We always select the right applicant for each dog, based on the dog’s needs.  If you and the dog are not a good match, we will help you select another dog, or we will keep your approved application on file for 6 months. Story
Lyla is a very affectionate Golden Retriever mix who was born in December of 2018. This girl is looking for a new home with no children.  Lyla does get along with other dogs but because she does NOT like to share her food or toys, she needs to be an only dog.  Lyla LOVES to spend time outside on nice days so a fenced yard is a must! Lyla has made a lot of progress in foster care.  She does still guard high value objects on occasion, but she is easily persuaded to drop the item if a treat is involved!  Lyla is very loyal and loves human attention to the point she sometimes has to be told to go lay down.  She loves car rides and is very well behaved in a car or in the house.  The ideal home for Lyla would be an adult only home with no other pets.  If Lya has to work on anything it would be walking on a leash because she gets so excited to explore new places that she does pull.  But with a bit of free training from Muddy Paws, we are sure she can be loose leash walking in no time! Lyla is a bit chubby so does need to be on a lower calorie kibble and exercised/walked daily.  But she just celebrated a 25 pound weight loss over the past 10 months!   Lyla is very attached to her foster mom, so will require a few visits to transition her into her new home. Lyla was recently diagnosed with Addisons Disease caused by decreased hormone production from the outer part or cortex of the adrenal gland.  She is on prednisone daily which costs about $20 per month.  There is a good likelyhood that in the future she may require a shot every 25 days, which can be given at home or by a vet.  This medication is estimated to run around $100 per month. The suggested adoption donation for Lyla is $365, which is TAX DEDUCTIBLE, and goes toward providing supportive services to animals in the home, as well as the high cost of vetting our dogs in rescue.  If you would like to welcome Lyla into your home, please begin by submitting our Adoption Application.  The adoptions for all of our dogs will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver the dogs.  If you would like to learn more about Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue, or donate to our dogs, please visit our website at MuddyPawsSecondChanceRescue.com.  We invite you to visit our Facebook Page, and when you visit, please don't forget to Like our Facebook page so that you won’t miss any information about our dogs and events! ##445685##

Story
Hey guys, I'm Oakley! I'm a Golden Retriever mix, born 7/11/2020 and I think I'm a pretty laid back guy. Sometimes I like to be super social with my favorite person, but other days I just wanna be left alone. You know that feelin', right? I overheard somebody call me... oh, what was it? Omni... an omnivert! That means I'm kinda an extrovert and kinda an introvert... just depends on the day and the situation. I suspect some of you out there know exactly what that feels like and I know that kind of personality can be hard for some people to handle. That whole thing sort of got in the way of my future as a service dog, so life took a different turn. I really like meeting new people, but I prefer an adult only home... kids don't seem to really "get" my needs. I'm still a spunky boy, so I need to find a human that will let me exercise in a big, safe, fenced backyard where I can sniff around and relax in the comfort of my own space. I will come over to you like an oversized cat and nudge you to come and join in the fun! I like to spend time walking around and exploring with my favorite person who understands that just being in close proximity to your best dog friend is all you need to feel loved! But, want to know something that would make me super happy? Another laid back canine friend to play with! My foster fur siblining and me have become best of friends, and I have learned maybe it would be cool to have another pup around! Oakley does take time to warm up and trust strangers.  He will require at least one free training session with our positive reinforcement trainers to help him work through his trust issues.  He also guards food, which is something the trainers can help you address. Because of this, his adopter needs to live within a 50 mile radius of Omaha.  The suggested adoption donation for Oakley is $265. The adoptions for all of our animals will take place in the Omaha, NE area and must be done by the adoptive family in person. We do not ship or deliver.  Please Note: We are a RESCUE, which is different from a shelter. We conduct veterinary and personal reference checks during the application approval process. ##1254588##
