Story
Meet Laika, a sweet 3-4-year-old dog who’s ready to find her forever home! Laika is fixed and up to date on all her shots. She’s incredibly gentle and doesn’t have a mean bone in her body. She gets along well with other dogs, and while we’re not sure about cats or kids, she’s so friendly that she’d likely pass any test, which we can arrange if needed. Laika has a minor issue with her knees being dislocated and the vet said surgery wouldn’t change anything since she was hit by a car and left for dead for so long. she gets along fine and with no issue as long as he has carpet floors or area rugs to help keep her balance so she doesn’t slip around. Other than that, she’s perfectly fine with walking, running, and even navigating stairs. She’s potty and crate trained, but she’s used to staying out with other dogs, so she doesn’t really need a crate. Laika is ready to bring love and joy to a new family—could that be yours?

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. We would like to introduce everyone to a very special dog named Gus, but formerly known as Apollo when he was originally adopted from Safe Haven back in 2023. This big handsome fella originally came to us via the City of Marengo Pound as a stray in January of 2023. We could not believe a family never reclaimed him because he is such a great dog! Luckily once he was neutered, given current vaccinations, and microchipped, etc. -  he was adopted just 2 months later and his name was changed to Gus. Gus is estimated to be about 4 years old now - and he has had a fantastic home the past few years.  His owner took excellent care of Gus and loved him dearly.  So much so that when he began planning a permanent move to Belize, he was planning on taking Gus along.  He completed the international health passport requirements for Gus and purchased a very heavy metal transport crate ($1,000) that he could ride in for the long flight. A few weeks before their flight the owner got news from the airline that Gus is too big to make the journey. Of course he was devastated, but also relieved that Gus could come back to Safe Haven and hopefully find another family to call his own.  If you are interested in meeting or potentially adopting Gus/Apollo, please complete an online adoption application for him so a meeting time can be arranged. Interested in adopting? Story
Gil is one of a litter of 10 puppies born January 12th, 2025, to mama Ginger. He currently weighs 4.6 pounds and should be a medium sized adult. Gil is the smallest puppy. His littermates are all twice his size. Since he is the smallest he has had the most snuggle time and extra attention. The mom to this litter is Ginger, a 2 year old, 45 pound Retriever mix. We don’t know who the dad to this litter is, he didn’t stick around. Gil requires a physically fenced yard so he can safely run and play. His new family needs to be committed to continuing to work with him and training him using positive reinforcement. Gil will be neutered, microchipped, dewormed, and have had the first of the three required distemper/parvo boosters. His adopters will be responsible for his last two distemper/parvo boosters and his rabies vaccine at 16 weeks. If you would like to meet these puppies, please complete the adoption application on our website: www.furfunrescue.org. If you have questions about the puppies you can contact rox@furfunrescue.org or call 319-929-6657.
