Story
Say hey to Daric! Daric came to us after being found as a stray that was never claimed. We believe he was born in July of 2021. Since Daric came to us as a stray, we can not be sure who or what he has experience with, but we believe he would do well with most ages, and perhaps another dog his size that is female. We are not sure how he would do with a cat in his new home. Daric is a very sweet boy that loves attention, and being around people. He is a very food motivated, and knows how to sit, but he isn't sure what toys are quite yet. Daric may need a small refresher course on potty training when learning a new home and routine, but he does pretty well keeping a clean kennel here at the shelter. He is looking forward to finding his forever family! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. All of this is included in their adoption fee. Fill out an application to adopt at freeborncountyhs.org When transitioning your new pet home please allow for at least 4-6 weeks for your pet to adjust to their new home. They will need this time to decompress, and adjust to a new routine and environment. During that time we will provide check ins and counseling to ensure a successful transition. Please review all basic adoption requirements listed on our website before applying. We take finding the right homes for the animals in our care very seriously. They deserve nothing but the best! Please allow 2-7 days for applications to be processed. If an animal is listed in foster care, these pets are not at our facility, but are in foster care homes. They are still available for adoption, and meet and greets are done with pre-approved applicants only. If you have any questions feel free to send us an email at freeborncohumanesociety@gmail.com, send us a message on Facebook, or call or text 507-377-8501.

Story
Ladies and Gentlemen - Domino "Never have to worry about what is worst or what is best" Oh oh Domino Domino was found as a stray and never claimed. He was born in March of 2022 - we think :) He is an 80 lb Lab mixed with an energetic goofball. He should be fine with older kids and adults. He isn't overly fond of the other dogs here, so he might do better as a single dog until he gets used to being in a home setting again. Domino also should be in a cat free home. Domino has a big personality and loves attention, he keeps a clean kennel here, so the transition to home should be easier. Domino really wants a home and a family. Will you come and make his dreams come true? All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. Story
Boulder and his sisters came to us when their owners needed help finding them loving homes. Born in late February 2024, Boulder is full of puppy fun! He walks well on a leash already and is learning sit & down. He loves to play and chew on sticks or his Bark Box toys. Boulder is going to be a big guy when he finishes growing, so his new family needs to be prepared for that. He seems great with the other dogs and is fine with cats at the shelter too. Boulder is ready to get out of the shelter and start meeting people and going places - so much to do and see!! Are you the right match for our big, sweet boy? Come and meet him and we will see! All pets adopted from the Humane Society of Freeborn County will be spayed or neutered, up to date on age appropriate vaccinations, testing and will be microchipped. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Sonya came to the shelter from the city pound when her hold was finished and no one had claimed her. She appears to be around a year old and looks like a black lab/pit bull type mix. There could be some other breeds in there, too. She's very loving and full of enthusiasm. She has been vet checked and spayed and her fee is $150. Sonya does know how to sit (most of the time) but will most likely need some basic training. She is a very energetic young dog who will require regular exercise. We do think she would do well with other dogs (males preferably). We have no way of knowing about cats. Kids over 5 would be best as she is very bouncy and needs training. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. Please keep an eye on your emails if you apply. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventative, and spayed or neutered.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 29, 2024, 1:03 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Webb came to us from the city pound on 6/10/2024. His legal hold time was up and no one had claimed him. He is a nice boy who could be a mix of lab, pit bull, and other breeds. He's probably no older than 2 years old and can be a little reserved at first, but warms up quickly and loves attention. We will need to get him vet checked and neutered and his fee is $150. Webb is a pretty big dog but he is also gentle and loving. He might need a little bit of basic training. We do think he would do okay with another well mannered dog but don't know if he's ever been near cats. We think he'd be fine with kids. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org.
