Story
We are looking to rehome our silver lab. This has been an extremely hard decision for us but we know he deserves a better life. He is 5 years old and has so so much energy so would do great on a farm/acreage. He’s the sweetest boy he just needs more room to run and play. He is up to date on all his shots and his past medical history includes a surgery to remove some of his intestine from eating a sock. He does great with other dogs and kids. Unsure about cats.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Lucy came to the shelter on March 28th as an owner surrender, after her owner was no longer able to care for her. Lucy is an 8-9 year old lab mix who is a healthy and active senior gal. She's happy and enthusiastic. She was very loved and well cared for in her previous home. Lucy is completely vetted, chipped, and her fee is $125. Lucy likes a consistent routine. She can be pretty enthusiastic about food so she does best with controlled amounts and routine feeding times. She's looking for a home in which she won't be left alone for long hours. She loves to go for walks and would love a fenced yard. Lucy has done okay with other dogs but does need to work on her manners a bit. She would do best with a well mannered male dog of similar size. She's fine with older kids. Smaller animals, like cats, are not among her favorite things. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. We do require that potential adopters be at least 21 years old and that any resident dogs be up to date on vaccinations, heartworm testing/preventatives, and spayed or neutered.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.April 10, 2026, 12:48 am

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Emmett arrived from the city pound on 7/12/2025 when his legal hold was finished. He had been found tied to a table at a local park. He is approximately 3 years old and is a mystery mixed breed. Maybe some hound, shepherd, lab...it's a guessing game. He does have some crazy double dewclaws on his hind feet that give him a unique quality. He has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped, and his fee is $150. Emmett is a bit unsure of himself and can be quite shy at first. However he's really quite loving and goofy. We think he has the potential to be a fun companion. He does appear to be okay with other dogs. We don't know about cats at all. We're not sure if he has ever been around young kids. He will require some basic training in all areas and will need regular exercise. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Rello was surrendered to us on 1/26/2026 due to rental property restrictions. He is a lab/husky mix who is still under a year old. He's a happy and friendly young guy who would make a great addition to a family. He has been vet checked, neutered, and microchipped, and his fee is $150. Rello's former owners had cats and young kids, but he will need training to ensure success due to his age and energy level. Exercise is key for a dog like him, especially given his breed mix. He is a larger boy who could be close to fully grown, but this is not certain and he may get even bigger. His former owners were working on house training with him, but he still needs a little bit of work on that. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Bob came to us an owner surrender. His owners experienced a huge life change and could no longer keep him. Bob is an approximately 9 year old, lumbering black lab type dog. He was an "outside dog" for most of his life. He was, however, very loved by his owners. He's a happy and affectionate guy who doesn't really demand a whole lot. We will get Bob completely vet checked and neutered soon and his fee is $150. We do think that Bob would adjust well to being an inside dog. He keeps his kennel perfectly clean at the shelter! He is pretty big, but he's not overly energetic or active. He does need some basic training and his leash skills are, well, pretty nonexistent. He would love a fenced yard for sure! Bob has done well with kids and we think he could do okay with another mellow dog. He has not had any exposure to cats. Bob is pretty awesome. We like Bob!
