Story
Meet Jackson!Jackson is a 4-year-old pup with a spunky personality and the cutest wiggle butt you’ve ever seen! His happy energy is contagious, and he has a way of making everyone around him smile.Jackson came to us through a transfer from Animal Control, just like a few of our other dogs. Since arriving, he’s been settling in well and showing everyone what a fun and lovable guy he is.He does well with other dogs and has also done great with kids, which could make him a wonderful addition to many different types of families.Jackson is currently finishing up treatment after testing positive for Lyme disease, but he’s doing great and otherwise has a clean bill of health. Once his treatment is complete, he’ll be ready to start the next chapter of his life. Now all Jackson needs is a forever family who will love his goofy personality and those adorable wiggles. If you're looking for a happy, playful companion who will keep you smiling, Jackson might just be your perfect match! An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Dog adoption fees are $250.00 for all puppies and adult dogs. Seniors are a donation of choice.Cats and kittens are minimum donation $50.00

Story
Meet Obadiah—affectionately known as Obie-Bear 🐻—a gentle soul with a heart full of love just waiting to shine.Obie-Bear came from a litter where, unfortunately, not every pup was able to find a home right away. Thankfully, a kind and dedicated caretaker stepped in and gave him the love, safety, and attention he deserved. Because of that, Obie has grown into an incredibly sweet, affectionate dog who truly adores people—seriously, ALLLLLL people. If you’ve got love to give, he’s already your biggest fan. That said, Obie-Bear is a sensitive guy. New situations can make him a little nervous, and when he’s unsure—like around doorways or on a leash—he tends to freeze up. He’s not being stubborn—he’s just looking for reassurance. What he needs is a patient, understanding person who can show him the world isn’t so scary and help him build confidence at his own pace. The beautiful thing? Once he feels safe, his personality starts to blossom into that happy-go-lucky, tail-wagging companion he’s meant to be. Another confident dog in the home would do wonders for him—he takes comfort in having a buddy to show him the ropes and help him feel secure.Obie-Bear is the kind of dog who will bond deeply with his person. He’s soft, loving, and full of quiet potential. With a little patience and a lot of love, he’s going to become someone’s absolute best friend. If you’re the kind of person who believes in helping a shy dog find his confidence, Obie-Bear is ready to give you his whole heart 💛An adoption application can be filled out on the DHS website https://www.dekalbhumanesociety.org/adopt. Rory has made tremendous steps in working around men. One of her walkers is a male and she does great with him. Still a bit shy around new people but once she warms up shes so smart and funny. Does not do well around livestock.
