***NEW PHOTOS AND VIDEO-- ***Click here for Allie and Poppy's Facebook Album The girls continue to do well in their foster home and are now enjoying daily walks. They really are so sweet and cuddily. Now they even sleep in bed with their foster mom and dad. July 2024: Happy 3 year birthday girls. We never thought it would be this long to find them a forever home, but I have some new insights into what the girls are all about having baby sat them for a week while their wonderful foster parents were on vacation. As I have a houseful of happy dogs, it did take Poppy a bit longer to feel safe. Allie was happy to meet new friends right away. I do think Poppy is a little protective over her little sister. It took the girls a few hours to feel safe with me but Poppy started trusting me a little sooner than Allie. FOOD was very helpful for us becoming friends and if we find an adopter for our bonded sisters, it won't take long for them to trust if yummy cheese and treats are part of the process. I was also happily surprised how the girls figured out our routine of going in and out and feeling safe in a cage. I didn't have any problems soaking down Allie's kibble and I also added some thawed raw food which she loved and which she was able to eat. These girls would be great candidates for a Farmer's Dog food home-- although I really liked giving them both some yummy, healthful raw. After 2 days the girls were comfortable with all my dogs that's when I started taking photos. They were raised with a lot of dogs in Mississippi- but they started getting attacked by the resident pack and that's when we had to move them north. Around day 5 or 6, both girls really felt comfortable with their new friends and went in and out with no issues. At that time I gave them more freedom to hang out with us which made Allie especially happy so that she could go in the toy box. Both girls are affectionate when they are not afraid. Their foster mom and dad have done a great job with cuddles on the couch and taking them on dog walks too. When Allie is happy, she will nibble on your fingers and Poppy LOVES her head rubbed. Poppy also enjoyed being brushed. Our bonded sisters have waited nearly 3 years to find a forever home-- I am hopeful the perfect family is out there. Here is a photo and video album from Allie and Poppy's foster mom and dad. Click on the link. They are doing so well and we are hopeful that the perfect forever home is out there. ***UPDATE DECEMBER 2023*** Allie and Poppy are finally in the Chicago area and safe in foster care. They truly are a bonded pair of sisters and are doing great in foster care. We are looking for a loving family of adults only so help them continue to learn about unconditional love. They are very sweet once they feel safe and are often found cuddling on the couch with their foster dad. As both were recently diagnosed with tick borne disease, treatment is going well. It's just a nightmare in Mississippi with ticks being around all year long. At least we know and we are always transparent with all our adopters if this is a health concern. Our girls have been through so much to get here, we hope we can find them the most perfect loving home. Allie and Abby are a bonded pair of sisters. Abby aka Poppy is in good health and was the best companion to little Allie who needed major surgery to save her life. This is all documented in their Facebook album. Their mom and 2 brothers have moved to Illinois, and we are hopeful we can find a loving family in the Chicago area that can continue to help Allie with her moistened food regimen now that her surgery is over. The girls are best buddies and love to snuggle and cuddle together. They have lived a sheltered life on a Mississippi farm so it might take them a little time to adjust to suburban living- the city would be too much for them. The perfect home will have a family with older kids and perhaps another dog they can build confidence with. The perfect home will also have a safe traditionally fenced in yard- no invisible fences. August 2021: Allie, Artie, Albert and Abby are 6 month old Super Mutts that are in need of foster or Foster to Adopt homes in the Chicago area. Their mom is a Mississippi mixed breed that suffered neglect and will need heartworm treatment. Her 4 surviving pups are doing well. Spayed or Neutered,
Story
What girl doesn't LOVE songs and DANCING? Because she falls in Love Too Easily! Her name is Chettyand she's a jazzy lovebug! She's a female, Labrador Retriever/Pitbull Terrier mix looking for a special family to hold onto me and never let go! Still learning the chords of what it means to be a good girl: such as being comfortable in a crate and walking confidently on the leash. But, she'll figure it out with more and more practice. Her foster family is teaching so much and giving so much love! So prepared for her to give that back to you! She's a super excitable, mid-to-high energy dog, and . . sometimes forget her size around people! When her humans come home from work she transform from dog to jackrabbit and will jump all over the place and all over them! Gets along great with kids but remind your little ones that sometimes she'll forget just how little they are! She's curious about cats and chase them sometimes, thus we think she would do best in a household with no cats or cats that can hold their own against dogs. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
Hi, my name is Evan aka Quint and I have an interesting story to tell. If you can sit down and relax I will tell you about my short history! I am a gorgeous, approx 2 yr old lab mixed puppy who found myself in a bad way just 3 months old... like, hanging out at the gas station My face had injuries and scars and no one was there to care for me... UNTIL I won the "lost doggy lottery"!! People visiting on a mission to see their son graduate from Air Force boot camp the next day, found me! AND they didn't just leave me there... they took me to their hotel room (at the LA QUINTA INN..... :) and the rest is proverbial history!! They started calling around and the only nice person who actually answered her phone at 9:30pm was the founder of the rescue. One more phone call and one of the bestest people in the world picked me up at the hotel and brought me back to lost doggy heaven! Now I am awaiting the last awesome chapter to being a lost doggy and that is ADOPTION! I am about 60# full grown. I have a sweet and loving temperament and I love to play play play! I am a little bit silly and my personality EXUDES out of my pores like a sweet perfume! I am a big puppy with the greatest chance of my life.... I got a chance at a real life and I hope you will be the one to write my last chapter- with love, hot dogs and lots of cuddling and playtime!! So, if you are looking for me, I am looking for you!!! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
Click here for Ingrid's Facebook Album *** 10/26: we were able to test Ingrid on her bird scenting abilities, (photos in her album). As she is being treated for Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever, we weren't sure if her young brain and natural instincts would be hindered. We worked her quite a bit- let her chase a few birds and on our 4th try on a planted bird, she locked on point!! It was a light bulb moment!! It would be super great if we could find someone in the Chicago area that can continue with her antibiotics and training, even with the German Shorthaired Pointer club of Illinois as their big president was doing the handling honors for us. Inga is all puppy and consistent training is what she needs. She has so much potential. Ingrid aka Inga aka Iggy means "fair, beloved or beautiful" in Norse and Germanic cultures. Our Ingrid is definitely a beauty but kind of a wild child of the forest at the moment. As she was found as a stray-- no one came for her at the shelter. A LOT of GSP's are surrendered to shelters and rescues due to their high energy levels. If our forest fairy is also infected with Lyme disease as we suspect due to her high fever upon arrival and anxiety, she will settle down the longer we treat and become the intelligent companion dog she was meant to be. In the mean time, we are looking for a foster or foster to adopt home in the Chicago are that has a safe fenced in yard and playful dogs for her to help with her exercise needs as her brain heals. Please call Lisa at 6306941359 or email Lisa@illinoisbirddogrescue.org if you want to help make the difference in this sweet dog's life.
