Story
Here's what Sausage Ryder's foster has to say! "Are you looking for a friendly, playful, silly, cuddlebug? Then Sausage Ryder is your guy! You can tell he is looking for love from his human companions and enjoys spending time with you- whether that is playing a game of fetch, watching you eat trying to convince you to give him a piece with his puppy dog eyes, or snuggling up with you watching TV. After fostering Sausage Ryder for a little over two months, we've been able to see his goofy personality shine through. Sausage Ryder is very curious about the world around him and wants to take everything in- which can sometimes be too much! He definitely takes on the energy of those around him so in loud or chaotic situations he can become super energetic wanting to join in on the fun. So long as his family knows his social limits and allows him to take some breaks from fast paced situations, Sausage Ryder will do just fine! Sticking to a routine has been very helpful for Sausage Ryder's transition into our home. It took him about 3 weeks to be comfortable in his foster home and then about 2 more to learn our routine. Now whenever I need to go to work, he goes into his kennel without needing to be asked because he knows that I need to leave and he isn't able to come with. When it comes to going on walks, squirrels beware! Sausage Ryder definitely has a drive to chase after squirrels and bunnies. However, once they are safely up the tree or out of sight, he is good to keep moving on for his walks. Just be sure whoever is behind the leash can handle the pull of this 75lb dog! Aside from the squirrels, he loves going on walks. We have done a bit of jogging with him and it seems like he would fit in with someone who wants to do short jogs around the block. He can sometimes pull on the leash at the start of a walk because of excitement, but within a few minutes he is sniffing away happily on a relaxed leash. Sausage Ryder is definitely a food hound though- so be sure to be on the lookout in case there is food on the ground as you walk- he will absolutely try and gobble it up. While we are unable to introduce Sausage Ryder to other dogs while in foster, he is definitely curious about them on walks! He does well if the other dog doesn't start barking at him and can walk right on by the other side of the street without issue. If the other dog starts barking at him, then Sausage Ryder can get riled up and will need some help disengaging out of sight of the other dog. Any dog introductions to Sausage Ryder should be done slowly as his high and excited energy can be a lot for other dogs. Sausage Ryder likes: walks, treats/food, meeting new people, getting pets, new toys, playing, giving you kisses, watching outside the window, going on car rides (he LOVES this!), being social, the mailman (ours gives him treats!), his kong and snuffle mat Sausage Ryder dislikes: squirrels/small animals, cats, extended loud noises, rough housing while playing, dogs who bark at him for no reason when we are out on walks Overall, Sausage Ryder has been a great foster dog. He truly loves his people and is looking for a family that will love him back. He plays fetch very gently, brings the toy back to you, and knows some basic commands- sit, stay, kennel, down (we taught "down" to him in about 3 weeks since we got him- so he is trainable for more tricks). He is housetrained and also kennel trained (although he will give you loving puppy dog eyes trying to convince you that he should be able to stay on the couch instead!). If your family would do well with a loveable goofball who loves to play and snuggle, then consider giving Sausage Ryder a chance!"

Story
Hi, I'm Phoenix! I spent over 2 years of my young life wandering, trying hard to find my next meal and staying away from people, other dogs, coyotes and cars. I'm a real-life Frogger character. I've never relied on anyone other than myself. I'm a true survivor. One day, someone put a cage in the forest. There was really good food inside of it. Over the next 4.5 months, I had snacks like McDonalds, Popeyes, femur bones and stew almost every day. It was really good! One time the cage made a noise so I very quickly escaped before it could lock me in. After a few more close calls, I was finally caught with nowhere to escape to. I ended up at this place called Border Tails Rescue. The food was pretty good, and I was always warm and had a dry bed. It was nice not to be out in the freezing cold anymore. At the same time, I found myself with things that I had always tried to avoid, like people. I was stressed and scared - even worse the people that caught me kept coming to bother (visit) me. I would shake and my tail was between my legs. I'll be honest - I was very scared. As time went on and as people called my name, I began to open up. I realized that people are nice and I shouldn't be afraid of them. Then one day, the guy that got me into this whole mess showed up with his family and 2 other dogs. We all went for a walk, and there was *a lot* of butt sniffing. Things were good. I hopped in their car and off we went. I was a very good boy in the car and didn't make a peep. We ended up at this place they called a house. The other 2 dogs went somewhere else while I ran up the stairs and went into a closet i found. It was dark, quiet and definitely safe. I stayed in there for a bit as I tried to figure out what was happening and where I was at. Mom brought up a plate of fresh chicken just for me and wow was it good! Pretty quickly, I felt safe enough to leave the closet and I jumped on this thing called a bed. Oh my goodness, it was exquisite! It's soft, has blankets and this guy I now call dad was waiting for me. He talked to me quietly and gave me nice pets. I liked the pets so much, I decided I wanted my tummy rubbed. I love tummy rubs! I've now been with my foster family for 2 weeks. My mom says I'm 100% very good boy. Here's a little bit more about me: I've had one accident in the house. Just one! Not a big deal. When I go for potty breaks, I potty right away! I let everyone know when I'm done because I head right back to the house. I'm not crated when everyone leaves and I leave everything just the way they left it. I love it when people give me attention. I wag my tail thing a lot, but I prefer people to be calm and gentle when they approach because I still scare easily. When I get scared, I go into the closet. It's my safe space, but rarely ever go in there now because I'm getting so brave. I sing when my dad gets home. He's a pretty ok guy and I really love my mom. I give really good greetings and am learning some commands. I'm a low energy dog. I prefer to spend my time on the couch or the bed, but mom and dad say I'm still decompressing, so stay tuned! My hooman brother and sister are teenagers and I like them and they like me! I have a fur brother named Moon Man and we spend some time together. He's a very playful and spunky little boy and I'm learning this play thing but so far its going really well. I also have a fur sister named Emma. Emma says she's the queen of the house and mom and dad are keeping us apart for now until she is more comfortable with me being in the house. I promise - it's her, not me. She's not a queen - she's a monster (don't tell her I said that)! I'm continuing to learn more about myself and my foster family and they are learning more about me. I have never showed aggression. I just want to be loved and cared for. In return, I will give you my undivided attention, love and watch your every move with my beautiful brown eyes. So whattaya say? Want to be besties? Hope to hear from you soon! Love, Phoenix

Story
Lacey may be 2x the size that she should be, but she has twice the heart as well! She is looking for a home that will be dedicated to her fitness journey, and will put in the work for her health so that she may live a long and comfortable life! Lacy recently went on a "Doggie Day Out," and here is what they said about her! "After spending the day with Lacey, it's more than evident that she's a shy but super super sweet girl. She had no issue on the leash, with great leash manners and doesn't really have a desire to go up to other dogs or people. Though she needs to lose a bit of weight, she was able to go on a long gentle walk, and would be perfect in a slower paced household! Lacey was a JOY to spend the day with, and I hope to walk her again soon :) "
