Story
This outdoor loving, snow loving boy is looking for his furever home. Dayton came to the shelter back in November and sadly hasn't had much interest. He loves to be outside where he can zoom around the play area playing catch me if you can. After he's tired of his shenanigans (or more so when we make him come inside), he loves to curl up on his warm, comfy bed. He does need a home with a fenced-in yard & a home with older children. Dayton likes some other dogs, preferably younger dogs, but a meet and greet with potential dog siblings is a must. He does ok so far with the cats at the shelter. Dayton is a lab mix around 4-5 years old. He does have an old back injury, which limits some of his mobility so potential adopters must keep that in mind and be willing to accommodate his needs. His adoption fee is $130. He will come current on his age appropriate vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm tested negative and neutered.

Story
Helios is roughly 1 1.2 years old and has lived most of his life is a crate. He had to spend many hours couped up when he should have been playing and being a puppy. He needs a family to love him and give him the proper training and exercise. He is a sweet boy but will need continuing education. He needs the time to learn and realize that he will never be locked up like that again. Please come out and spend some time with this handsome boy, he will melt your heart.

Story
Clay County Animal Rescue & Shelter is located at 375 Water Elm Lane, Flora, IL. Our phone number is 618-665-3005.  We are renovating our shelter so hours are by appointment only.  The typical adoption fee for dogs is $150.  It includes vaccination, deworming , spay/neuter, heartworm testing on dogs of age and microchipping, which is now mandatory by state law.  Some dogs we discount to as little as $50 due to sponsorship.  Some dogs we ask a higher adoption fee, which helps us recoup expenses on heartworm treatment on other dogs. All cats are spayed/neutered/vaccinated/flea treated/dewormed and microchipped prior to adoption.  Cat adoption fees range from $60-$100.  We spay/neuter/microchip/vaccinate and deworm all kittens and cats, prior to adoption.  Our shyer/less adoptable cats are classed as "barn cats" and are free with a completed/approved barn cat application, which can be found on our website. For updates on adoption events and more pics of pets available, go to our website, www.claycountyshelter.com or look for us on Facebook.   August 7, 2024, 12:15 am

Story
A note from Dodge himself: "Hey there, I'm Dodge, a one-year-old Lab mix looking for a home to show me love. I didn't have the best start in life; hoomans didn't really try and make friends with me, so I'm a bit independent. But I'm seeing that hooman attention is kind of nice. I have already learned that I love scratches on my chest! Pure bliss. It makes me feel warm, fuzzy and loved. I ready to try things like snuggles, treats and toys. I can sometimes pull on the leash, because I'm so excited about walking, but a training collar or no-pull harness with help with that. And when it comes to other dogs, I seem to be good with them and we will know for sure if you bring your pooch to meet me. Plus, I'm a good watch dog! I'll bark if someone is coming on the property or to the door, so that's a good thing I can help with! I'm Dodge, and I can't wait to restart my life in my forever home! If you like a dog that isn't all up in your lap and business all the time, come meet me! We can hang out." ........ We do ADOPTIONS BY APPOINTMENT ONLY.
