Story
mocha is a good girl. she is good with puppies, but not too fond of older dogs unless she gets introduced well. she is turning 3 in september!! she loves her squeaky toys even though she destroys them, and she loves a good hard toy to chew on. she loves to cuddle, especially when it is bed time. she does have a bit of anxiety when you leave, she is cage trained but she will just whine when you leave and then howl when you come back. i just hope she goes to a good home that will properly take care of her and give her lots of space to have zoomies in. my life is too busy for a dog and i did not think about that when i got her. please, whoever takes her, just send me updates that iss all i ask. :)

Meet Dutchess! 💕👑 Dutchess is a beautiful 3-year-old Lab/Pit mix with a calm confidence and a heart full of love. She’s a smart, independent girl who catches on quickly and takes everything in stride. Whether she’s learning something new or settling into a routine, Dutchess is always paying attention. She’s incredibly sweet with people and truly enjoys being around her humans. At the same time, she appreciates having her own space now and then — the perfect balance of affectionate and self-assured. Dutchess is quiet, thoughtful, and carries herself with a gentle grace that makes her such a special companion. Dutchess also loves to play with other dogs and does wonderfully in canine company. She’s very tolerant of different play styles and knows how to adjust her energy, whether her friend is bouncy and silly or more laid-back. Her easygoing nature makes her a great match for a variety of dog personalities. The outdoors is her happy place! She absolutely lights up when it’s time for a walk and would love a home where she can explore, sniff, and enjoy fresh air regularly. If you’re looking for a loyal, intelligent, and easygoing best friend who will happily walk by your side (and then relax nearby at home), Dutchess is ready to start her next chapter with you. She's available for foster or adoption at the Animal Protective League, located at 1001 Taintor Road in Springfield. We are open every day from noon to 5 p.m.

Story
Bruiser is a 6-year-old Retriever mix with a big frame, a big heart, and an even bigger capacity for love. This gentle boy has so much goodness to give — he just needs the right person to help him shine. Life at the shelter can be a little overwhelming for Bruiser, and he sometimes struggles with stress and anxiety in his kennel. But once he’s outside, you’ll see the real Bruiser — calm, affectionate, and eager to connect. He’s currently on some anxiety medication and a special diet for allergies to help him feel his best, and he’s doing great with both. Bruiser knows how to sit and has a fun little trick of catching treats mid-air! He’s housebroken, well-mannered, and enjoys a mix of chill time and playful moments. He’s working on managing his excitement, especially in busy environments, and he’s looking for a patient, understanding adopter who can help him continue to grow. Bruiser would do best in a home without kids or other pets, where he can have plenty of walks, consistency, and love. This sweet boy is truly one of a kind — loyal, loving, and ready to be someone’s best friend. If you have a calm home and a big heart, Bruiser just might be your perfect match. Come meet him at the Animal Protective League located at 1001 Taintor Road in Springfield. We are open every day from noon to 5 p.m.💕

Story
Sally is a playful, athletic girl with a serious zest for life. If there’s a tennis ball involved, she’s all in! Fetch is her absolute favorite. She also loves a good game of tug-of-war and truly shines in the play yard, where she can stretch her legs and let her joyful energy loose. This smart cookie is always one step ahead. She picks up on routines quickly and already knows “sit” and “lay down.” When playtime is ending, she might try to squeeze in a few more minutes of fun. She’s strong, athletic, and can run until she’s completely tuckered out. An adopter who enjoys staying busy and getting outside will have the perfect partner in Sally. But don’t let her athletic side fool you — Sally has a soft, cuddly side too. Her intake notes describe her as affectionate and very loving, and she enjoys being close to her people after she’s had her playtime. She previously lived in a home with two young children (ages 1 and 5) and a 1-year-old Siamese cat, showing she has experience being part of a family environment. Sally doesn’t have any special medical or behavioral needs — just a big heart and lots of energy to share. Sally would be a wonderful addition to a loving, active family ready for fun and affection. If you’re someone who enjoys a loyal, energetic dog who will keep you on your toes and then happily snuggle up afterward, Sally might just be your perfect match.
