Story
Buck is a complete goof ball, he flops around with a huge smile on his face.  He loves following around other dogs and would benefit from a friend to learn more commands from.  He would spend all day chasing other dogs in the yard if he could.  Buck is crate trained and mostly potty trained.  He does not chew or tear apart toys.  He does great with kids but is a puppy still (Turns 1 in Oct 2024), so he might be too much for little kids, and he doesn't understand how to be gentle with cats either and does try to play with them (which they usually don't like).  Buck is still a bit skittish, but once he warms up he is a loving lap dog.  He knows "inside" and "crate", but is still learning other basic commands.  Buck overall is just a happy go lucky pup!  He is fixed, up to date on vaccines, and chipped. His adoption fee is $500 To adopt Buck, email us at kakf3133@gmail.comOctober 29, 2024, 10:24 am

Story
Hello, my name is Hudson and I am an 8 year old lab mix. Although Im not super tall and have a lean look, I am 68 lbs. I'm a handsome, dark chocolate color with some white on my chest though my coat looks black in a lot of inside photos. My foster mom says I was probably someone's pet, since I was neutered and someone clipped my tail. I am good on a leash & know words like sit and treat, but I somehow became a stray. Without a chip, my owners had little hope of finding me. Unfortunately, the shelter in Kentucky who found me was super full and didnt give me a lot of time. After only 10 days, I was on the euthanasia list, and thats when TAR rescued me. I am a relaxed, mellow, sweet and loving guy. I love humans, and will rub up against you and ask for pets even when you first meet me. My favorite place to be is anywhere you are Ill lay at your feet while you work on the computer. Ill watch you as youre folding laundry or doing chores. As long as youre near me, and Im not locked away in one room alone, Im happy. I love to snuggle on the couch with my chin in your lap, though Im also happy laying on the floor at your feet. Also, I take treats SO gently! I'm generally not very into toys but have learned about the Kong toy and the nylabone at my foster house. Oh, and if youre going out, I really like car rides. I just hop right in and Im really good and quite in the car, so maybe just take me with you if youre going out! I am very friendly to humans and greet every person I meet on a walk with a wiggle-butt, wagging stub (tail). I am very trusting and let human touch my anywhere. My current foster home has teens, and I am great with them. Ive had some gentle and friendly interactions with young kids, but because of my size, TAR is recommending that kids in my new home be at least 8. I'm generally a quiet boy in the house, but when I do bark, that bark is Loud! So, Im a good deterrent, but shared-wall living like an apartment or condo is not for me. A single-family home is best for me. I'm house trained and I will give out little whines and nudge you or walk to the door if I have to go outside. And if youre looking for a great walking buddy, I love to walk outside and I walk nicely on a leash most of the time. I only really pull if there is a REALLY interesting thing to sniff. When other dogs bark at me through a fence or across the street during a walk, I dont bark back. I would be happiest in a home where someone is home with me most of the time like a retiree, a stay-at-home parent, or a work from home person. I am happy to peacefully coexist with other dogs, especially with dogs who are similar in size (40-70 lbs). My foster home has three other dogs and Im good with all of them. I dont necessarily play with them, so Id also be OK as an only dog IF there is a human at home with me. I just dont like being alone. A vet recently realized that my pupils are always dilated which means I may not see super clearly. The vet recommends that my new family takes me to a veterinary ophthalmologist to see if I have a treatable condition. If its not treatable, thats probably OK because I seem to have adapted to it pretty well. I have no trouble going up or down the stairs, and I can still see the squirrels on my walks just fine! The vet thinks that my need to be near a human and/or another dog all the time might be partially related to this vision issue. (Although, Im just a love bug, too.) Given my vision impairment, a fenced yard is a must for me so that I have a safe place that is contained and where no new dogs can come in and surprise me. I just shouldnt be running or too active right now because I am Heartworm positive. TAR is helping me recover, as heartworm is treatable and preventable and not easily contagious to other dogs that may be in my new home. Ive already started my heartworm prevention medication, and I am scheduled for three heartworm cure injections: one in mid-August, and two in mid-September. Then Ill be retested in mid-October and again 6 months later just to be sure it worked. Ill need to be on heartworm prevention medicine for the rest of my life to make sure these heartworms dont come back!! If you adopt me during the treatment, TAR will continue to cover the cost of the treatment. Youll just have to go to the TAR vet in Naperville. I'm patiently waiting for my chance to be your faithful companion. If you're looking for a middle-aged guy who craves love, enjoys the company of others, and appreciates the simple pleasures in life, then look no further. When we meet, I promise that I will greet you with a wiggle butt, and I may give you some kisses. I know deep down that my perfect family is out there, waiting to cherish and adore me just as I will cherish and adore them. Just apply to meet me. I'll be your most loyal and loving companion! Love,Hudson Hudsonis in our foster home in Downers Grove. To meet this gentle boy, please complete our adoption application at: https://treasuredanimalrescueinc.org/application-dog-adoption/ Please don't let his heart worm status from stopping you for giving this sweet boy an opportunity for a home. Heart worm is treatable and also preventable. Sadly, his original owners did not keep him on his monthly preventions. Treasured Animal Rescue will cover all his heart worm treatment expenses and any questions regarding the treatment process for his heart worm, please send an email to: info@treasuredanimalrescueinc.org Sorry, Treasured Animal Rescue does not adopt out of the State of Illinois Thank you for choosing to adopt! Story
Mikey formerly Mike Tyson is a 3 1/2 yr old doberman/lab/boxer mix. He arrived here as one of a little of 4 puppies in the spring of 2021. They all had human boxer names. He was yadopted 3 years ago and when his family’s circumstances changed, rather than contact the rescue for assistance in rehoming him, his family gave him away to a coworker about 1 1/2 ago. Rover Rescue only learned of this because he was found by animal control and we were notified. He is skin and bones and has hair loss due to fleas and possibly mange. Animal Control was going to put him down because he was so scared and growling. I am so thankful that we were called!! Mikey is now back in foster care and doing great. He is being treated for his skin rash and he is loving all his furry friends. He is very sweet and was only growling because he was so terrified. It would’ve been a tragedy to lose him. This is the second time this poor fella found himself needing his life to be saved. He is looking for a FOREVER home. One where he can live the good life and not a hint of worry about where his next meal is coming from or if he has a tomorrow! Update: His coat has filled back in to a beautiful black and brindle. He is 100% house trained, crate trained, and sniffed the kitties at the vet without issue. He is also bilingual. He understands some English and Spanish commands. He is great with other dogs and children. He is still a little afraid of intimidating adults, usually men, but does warm up to love them. He is altered, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. If you would like to meet this dog, please call or text Lorri, at 630-659-8814. Text is preferred. The adoption fee is $225. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming

Story
Eddie is 2 to 3 year old whippet/lab mix and weighs about 40 lbs. He is the sweetest little guy you’d ever meet. He loves people. He’s shy at first, but once he gets to know a person, he loves his people. He’s good with other dogs as long as he is introduced slowly. He had a foster sister that he loved to play with, but she got adopted. He is a runner; he snuck past me and we did have to chase him down the street. Luckily, he is food motivated and with the help of some neighbors we enticed him with the food and got him back but again this is probably one of the reasons why he wound up in the animal shelter. He is house trained as long as he is kept on a schedule. He’s not crated when we leave and does fine. He doesn't need a fenced yard as long as he gets his exercise. He just loves his people and he's not super high energy, so if you’re interested in learning more about him, call Denise at 630-439-6541. The adoption fee is $225. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive
