Story
Meet Kennedy. Maybe you could tell in her eyes in her photos that she is a very frightened girl, to say the least. Kennedy is a dog who has been through some extreme trauma. We do not know all of the things that happened to her, but what we do know is the following: Kennedy was on the run for quite some time. Months maybe. A good Samaritan spotted her running and a full scale operation began with a private group of amazing volunteers that were determined to bring her to safety. Her first flyer was posted 10/28/24. She was loose prior to that date. She was lived trapped and brought to safety on 12/16/24, making her "on the run" for a minimum of 8 weeks. During that time, game trail cameras and volunteers caught this brave girl dodging traffic, scavenge for food and shelter, and defending herself against packs of coyotes. She is safe with us now, but she is still extremely frightened and will need a home without small children and an owner who is committed to keeping her appropriately contained with a VERY long decompression period for her to acclimate to her new person and home. She does great with other animals and would benefit from a friendly, confident dog to help her adjust and trust humans. She is somewhere around 2 years old (ish, our best estimate), and seems to be semi-house trained but not 100% due to her level of fear and anxiety at the shelter. She should be walked/handled on a martingale collar and double leashed (one on a harness or a different collar, one on the martingale) to prevent escape since she is an extreme flight risk. A very secure fenced yard would be beneficial once she is acclimated to the space and her people -- especially with housetraining, as she tends to not want to potty outdoors when on a leash.. She will not be an "easy" or "beginner" dog, but we believe someone will be very lucky to have her after some work and time. She bonds strongly with her people and wants to be where they are. Her adoption fee is $150 and she is now spayed, microchipped, vaccinated and heartworm negative. Please call 630-553-9256 or email animalcontrol@Kendallcountyil.gov or stop by during our open business hours to meet her.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Buck is a complete goof ball, he flops around with a huge smile on his face.  He loves following around other dogs and would benefit from a friend to learn more commands from.  He would spend all day chasing other dogs in the yard if he could.  Buck is crate trained and mostly potty trained.  He does not chew or tear apart toys.  He does great with kids but is a puppy still (Turns 1 in Oct 2024), so he might be too much for little kids, and he doesn't understand how to be gentle with cats either and does try to play with them (which they usually don't like).  Buck is still a bit skittish, but once he warms up he is a loving lap dog.  He knows "inside" and "crate", but is still learning other basic commands.  Buck overall is just a happy go lucky pup!  He is fixed, up to date on vaccines, and chipped. His adoption fee is $500 To adopt Buck, email us at kakf3133@gmail.comVisit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.February 2, 2025, 9:57 pm
