Story

Maggie is an adorable White Labrador Retriever estimated to be 4 years old. She’s a petite girl weighing just 35 lbs. Maggie is a very affectionate girl and absolutely loves being with people. She is ok with dogs but can be a bit selective; she does not like dogs who are high-energy and in her face. Likewise, she does not enjoy the company of small children who insist on playing with her, pull her tail and ears, or tease her. Maggie would be fine with older children (i.e., teenagers) who have learned to respect dogs. Because she has a high prey drive, cats would not want to be around her. An ideal home for Maggie offers a calm environment with plenty of time, attention, and affection to provide to her. Maggie would do fine as an only dog, but a calm, possibly older dog would make a great companion for her and vice versa. A secure, fenced yard would be ideal, so Maggie could enjoy running, exploring, and lounging in the sun. Maggie is fully vetted, up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested and on year-round heartworm prevention, spayed and microchipped. Kenya is an adorable puppy, thought to be a Black Lab Mix. She’s very smart, a quick learner, very alert and quite energetic!! At about 5 months, Kenya weighs 25 lbs.; she's a bit short and stocky! It is most important to note that we cannot be 100% sure of her adult weight, but our best guess is about 45 lbs. This cute pup joined BAARK from an overcrowded shelter in Kentucky earlier this year. She is thought to have been born around March 10th of this year. When joining our rescue program, Kenya appeared happy, calm & gentle, very friendly, and eager to move on to a better life!! Kenya is very sociable, playful, and is great with dogs. She may be a bit too energetic for a senior (dog or human!) An ideal family for Kenya is one able to assimilate the energy of a puppy into their lifestyle and is willing to commit the time to working with and training Kenya to be her best self! Her very lean structure may be due to her high energy level! And desire to stay active at all times. In addition to running and playing with other dogs, she’s obsessed with water and cannot get enough of playing in it! Celeste’s estimated date of birth is April 1st, 2023. At 5 months, she weighs 25lbs; her adult weight is not known but estimated to be 40 or so lbs. It is most important to note that we do not know just how big Celeste will become as an adult…her new family must be willing to accept her, no matter what her adult size! Christine has such beautiful and unique coloring and markings. Her fluffy body is covered with the softest black and white fur with hints of brown mixed in. While most of her body is covered in black fur, she has a small white patch of fur on her backend, a white tipped tail, four white legs, and four white paws. Her ears and head are black and brown with a white muzzle. Going down the middle of her face is a beautiful white stripe that is sprinkled with small black freckles. She has beautiful eyes and judging by the way she looks at us…we think she knows it. Oh, that face will just melt your heart. Christine is a very independent little girl. She has no problem playing with soft toys on her own or curling up by herself for a little nap. Sometimes she even finds a little hiding spot to sneak away for her little naps. Christine is very social with humans as well as her siblings. When a human walks into the room - she is one of the first puppies to run over to meet them. She is always up for any play time that she can get with humans but most of all, she loves to be picked up and cuddled by humans who will give her a good belly rub. She is also very sociable with her siblings. She lives to run and chase her siblings all around the Adoption Center and okay tug-of-war games with toys that make scrunchy sounds. She is a true athlete when it comes to those tug-of-war games! When she is all tuckered out, her favorite place to sleep is on the floor, next to a human, so she can gently rest her head on their leg and quickly fall asleep. The meaning behind Benvolio’s name is “good-will, well-wisher, peacemaker, and bringing people together.” What a perfect name for this little pup because he is nothing but love and peace. Benvolio loves humans! As soon as one walks into a room his tail starts wagging and he heads over to greet them. All Benvolio wants to do is be picked up and held while he sleeps. Benvolio will walk up to a human and literally start climbing up their leg while begging to be picked up. And by begging …we mean “puppy crying”.
