Story
Say hello to Marty, a white and tan lab mix with a heart full of love-especially for other dogs! Marty's confidence truly shines when he's with his canine friends, so he's looking for a home with existing dogs who can help him feel right at home. His playful and sweet personality comes alive when he's surrounded by his furry companions. Marty is an outdoor enthusiast who loves to soak up the sun, take in the smells, lay in a kiddie pool, and enjoy short nature walks. He's still working on his leash manners, but with a little patience, he'll be a great walking buddy. When it comes to people, Marty prefers to keep his circle small. But once you're in, you've got a loyal friend for life. He loves to sit next to you, soaking in a few gentle pets and enjoys the simple pleasures of a quiet life. Marty would thrive best in a calm, peaceful home where he can relax and be himself. If you have a quiet home with other dogs and are looking for a gentle soul to join your family, Marty could be the perfect addition to your family. Are you ready to help Marty find his forever home? Marty is an all-star dog, and his adoption appointment includes a discussion with the training team, as well as a few enrichment goodies to help get you both off to a good start. To learn more about Marty or to schedule an appointment to meet him, please email info@ahconnects.org (including your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to assist you. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.

Say hello to Sissy, a sweet-natured and slightly shy senior Labrador Retriever mix, looking for a forever home where she can bask in love and comfort. Sissy has a gentle soul and, while she may be a bit reserved at first, she warms up to kindness and patience. She's the perfect companion for cozy evenings and peaceful walks. Due to her environmental and seasonal allergies, as well as food sensitivities, Sissy is on a special diet that helps keep her feeling her best. Her new family will need to continue this regimen to ensure she remains happy and healthy. Sissy would thrive in a calm and stable environment, ideally with someone who understands the needs of a sensitive dog. She might need a little extra time to adjust, but with gentle encouragement, she'll soon find her confidence. If you have room in your heart and home for this beautiful soul, come meet Sissy! She's ready to give all her love to a family that can offer her the gentle care she deserves. Stop in and meet Sissy in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Meet Heidi: The Energetic Cattle Dog with a Splash of Fun! Introducing Heidi, a medium-sized cattle dog with a big personality and an even bigger heart! Heidi has proven to be a fantastic companion, especially for families with tweens-she's lived with them before and has been a success! She's also house-trained and can be trusted to free-roam when left alone, making her the perfect mix of independence and affection. Heidi is highly food motivated, which makes her an excellent training partner. Whether it's mastering new tricks or just having fun, she's always ready for a challenge if there's a treat involved! When it's playtime, Heidi's favorite game is tug-of-war, and she'll even bring you her favorite stuffed toy when she wants some attention. Heidi's leash manners are top-notch, and she's a star passenger in the car, making her an ideal companion for any adventure. But what truly sets Heidi apart is her love for water-she's our little fish! Heidi enjoys indoor swimming every week, and it's her favorite way to stay active and have fun. If you're looking for a loyal, playful, and water-loving companion, Heidi is ready to dive into her new forever home. Are you ready to make a splash with Heidi? I am an All-Star dog! My adoption appointment includes a discussion with our Training Team, and I will go home with my very own no-pull-harness and a few enrichment goodies to help get us off to a good start. Story
Introducing Clyde, a charming boy with a heart full of love and a playful spirit! Clyde is a sweet pup who adores going on walks and having fun playtime. His enthusiasm for life shines through, and he's always ready to explore the world around him. Despite being heartworm positive, Clyde remains active and full of energy. He doesn't let anything hold him back from enjoying his favorite activities, whether it's chasing after toys or enjoying a leisurely stroll in the park. His zest for life is truly inspiring! Clyde is also quite the conversationalist! He loves to chat and will happily engage in a lively dialogue with anyone who's willing to listen. His vocal nature adds an extra layer of charm to his personality, making every moment spent with him entertaining and delightful. Clyde is looking for a loving home where he can receive the care and attention he deserves. With proper treatment for his heartworm, he'll continue to thrive and be the playful companion you've been searching for. He's ready to fill your life with joy, laughter, and plenty of love. If you're ready to welcome this sweet boy into your heart and home, come meet Clyde today! He can't wait to start his next adventure with you! Clyde's journey started at Anderson Animal Shelter, where he arrived from a partner shelter. Despite testing positive for Heartworm, he hasn't let that dampen his spirits. The staff here believes that during Clyde's treatment and recovery, the best place for him is with a loving and forever family like yours. If you choose to adopt him! The treatment process typically takes about three months, during which some simple at-home steps will keep him safe and comfortable. After that, a follow-up test six months post-treatment ensures he's back to his happy, healthy self. It's important to remember that Heartworm can only be transmitted by mosquitoes, so with proper precautions, we can keep Clyde safe and sound. With your love and care, the staff anticipates that Clyde will fully recover, and he can't wait to bring joy and laughter into your home. When I arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Louisiana, I tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the best place for Heartworm positive dogs like me to be while going through treatments and recovering is with a loving and forever family like yours. If you choose to adopt me, the clinic staff will be with you every step of the way, answering questions and offering support. The process from detection to the final treatment is generally three months and involves some simple at-home steps to keep me safe while I recover. The last step in the process is a follow-up test six months after my treatment begins. The Heartworm treatment process is highly successful and the staff anticipates that I will fully recover! Yeah! And you should know that Heartworm can only be transmitted from animal to animal by mosquitoes. Stop in and meet my cute self in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email info@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 0, and the staff will be happy to help you. I hope to meet you soon! Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (6 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Disclaimer: This animal is not in Anderson custody. and is a courtesy post to help a member of the community rehome directly without shelter intervention. Any adoption inquiries should be directed to the owner at tlittelljr@gmail.com and/or (630) 724-7985. Anderson Humane makes no guarantees regarding medical or behavioral status of this animal, and the current owner is solely responsible for disclosing any challenges or concerns. He is a lab retriever/terrier mix who is about 5 months old. I'd say that his number one personality trait is being social. He is so full of energy and joy at all moments of the day. He loves going on long walks and meeting new people. He is very curious about the world so he loves sniffing around to explore new places and things. He is very excited and happy to meet new people and loves spending time to get to know them. Michael is also very well behaved both indoors and out. He rarely ever barks or growls at anyone or thing and loves giving kisses to everyone he meets. He loves playing fetch with some of his favorite toys like frisbees, tennis balls and kong toys. Michael is very intelligent as well. He knows where his food is stashed so when we approach the area he knows that it is time for him to eat. He also knows which door he needs to go in order to be taken outside of the house and how to let us know he needs to go outside to go to the bathroom (i.e., he will bring us one of our shoes to let us know he needs to go outside.) Michael is also a very quick learner. For example, as mentioned with bringing us our shoes, he also learned how to sit very quickly and how to come to us when we indicate so. He does very well in his crate throughout the night and is a heavy sleeper. Some of his favorite treats include Head-to-Tail dental sticks, pure being chewy dog treats, Nylabone natural nubz and ice cubes. He is currently up to date on all of his shots and has recently seen the vet for his checkup. If adopted, he comes with a big supply of his favorite foods, treats, and toys! Overall, Michael is a really well behaved, quick learning, energetic and happy dog who loves meeting new people and exploring new things. I have had nothing but positive experiences with him and hope he really finds a family that loves him so much. Michael is such a sweet and loving boy. I hope to find another loving home for him soon so that he can live the best life he possibly can and also enjoy the holidays with his new family.

Meet Aaron! This lovable, sweet pup is a bundle of energy and affection. Aaron is fully housebroken and crate trained, making him a great addition to any home. While he's still working on his leash manners (he can be a bit of a puller on walks), he's making great progress with his foster family's help. Aaron enjoys the company of other dogs and gets along well with them, having a blast running around the backyard with his furry friends. He's also very respectful of the household cat, simply passing by without any fuss. At night, Aaron is content either snoozing in his crate with his buddy Ellie Mae or curling up on the bed, depending on his mood. His sweet and easygoing nature makes him a great companion, whether he's playing or just hanging out with you. Aaron is ready to bring lots of joy and love to a new family! My adoption comes with some extra benefits at the time of adoption! --- Aaron is an All-Star dog! His adoption appointment includes a discussion with our Training Team, and he will go home with a few enrichment goodies to help get him off to a good start! To schedule an appointment to meet Aaron, email info@ahconnects.org (please include your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to help you!
