Story
Papie is an energetic and friendly boy who originally came to us when his owner had to move and was unable to keep him. Papie is potty trained, knows sit and down, and loves people! He is super smart and loves his treats. As soon as you reach for one, he will usually automatically sit and patiently wait for it with a big goofy grin on his face. Papie enjoys going on long walks where he can do lots of sniffing and exploring. He’s working on loose leash walking, rides well in the car and we've learned that he's a big fan of the snow! Papie has lived with other dogs in the past, and he’s participated in playgroup at CARE, showing that he could have other dog friends. He would do best with another dog that can match his rough and rowdy play style, and should be given slow introductions, as Papie can be a bit forward with his greetings. Papie is 2 years old and around 75 lbs. He would love to find an active adopter or foster that he could go on adventures with!

Story
McKai is a playful, smart, and athletic male dog who is bursting with personality! Fully potty and crate trained, McKai considers his crate his safe haven, happily retreating there for some downtime whether the door is open or closed. This lively pup gets excited to meet new people and is eager to make friends with every dog he encounters. His playful, kid-like energy makes him the life of the party, and his love for treats means he’s always ready to learn new tricks or follow commands in exchange for a tasty reward. McKai is super cuddly and loves to be close to his humans, but he also has an independent streak, always seeking out something to chew on to keep himself entertained. He’s still learning to manage his enthusiasm—when he gets hyped, he can get a little mouthy and sometimes mistakes a hand for a toy, but with guidance, he’s making great progress. If you’re looking for an energetic, affectionate, and treat-motivated companion who will keep you smiling every day, McKai is your guy! 🐾

Story
Sammie String Bean is a sweet and gentle soul who just wants to be by your side. Fully potty trained and wonderfully calm, she’s the perfect companion for a relaxed home environment. Sammie is incredibly easy to walk, showing no reactivity to people, dogs, or even squirrels—just happily trotting along with her person. She also loves car rides, making her a great adventure buddy when you're on the go. Sammie is fantastic with cats and small dogs, but she struggles with men and would thrive in a home with a patient, understanding owner. Whether you’re someone who loves to travel or just wants a laid-back pup to nap by your side all day, she’ll happily adapt—her biggest wish is simply to be near her person. However, Sammie does have separation anxiety and doesn’t do well in a crate. If left alone, she’ll howl and rub her nose raw trying to get out. Because of this, she’d be the ideal match for someone who works from home or a retired person looking for a loyal, low-maintenance companion. With her gentle nature, loving heart, and easygoing personality, Sammie String Bean is ready to find a home where she’ll feel safe, loved, and never alone. Could that be with you?

Story
Sweet Roscoe is a gentle and affectionate five-year-old retriever mix with a heart full of love—once he learns to trust. Shy and skittish, he’s still figuring out the world and needs a patient, understanding home to help him build confidence. A true velcro dog, Roscoe prefers to stay close to his person, and once he bonds, he’s the ultimate cuddle bug—happy to be your body pillow for as long as you’ll let him. He’s potty trained, crate trained, and knows “sit,” and while he’s timid on the leash, he loyally follows along behind. Low-key by nature, Roscoe enjoys playing fetch but isn’t one for high-energy chaos. He’s selective with other dogs, requires supervision around small ones, and would prefer a home without kids or cats. Since his best friend, Lucy, got adopted, he’s been a bit down, and a confident canine companion—introduced slowly—might help him find his footing again. He could also thrive with an empty nester looking for a devoted travel buddy. With time, patience, and love, Sweet Roscoe is sure to become the most loyal friend you could ask for.
