Story
Gia was rescued from a county shelter where life had not been good to her. She is the best companion, kid friendly but is dog selective, so a meet and greet is needed. She would also thrive in a home where she can get all the attention. She has the most beautiful chocolate coat and sweetest downturned frown.

Story
Happy-go-lucky Oreo was found as a stray, after being hit by a car. He sat in the county shelter for a month with a broken hip until we rescued him. He has now had hip surgery and happily running around on all 4 legs! Housetrained, crate trained, likes car rides and is dog friendly. Oreo would love to find his forever home this summer so he can go boating, swimming and more with his new family!

Story
Anita is a very special girl that requires a very special adopter.  A rural mail carrier became aware of 2 young stray dogs, one that from a distance appeared to be very seriously injured. It was soon discovered Anita was trying to protect her dying brother Archie. Several days after their rescue, sadly, Archie crossed the rainbow bridge. Anita displayed unwavering loyalty to and was deeply bonded to Archie. We were fortunate to place her into a loving foster home where she befriended a shy, male dog who had also experienced neglect and abuse. Despite her rough start to life,  Anita is an amazingly loving, nurturing dog.  In November Anita started displaying symptoms suggestive of a severe infection. Multiple veterinary visits and hospitalizations later, this innocent girl has been diagnosed with hepatozoonosis, a rare tick-borne disease often missed by veterinarians. After several months of various treatments we are happy to report Anita’s body is responding positively to medication.  However,  it is necessary for her to remain on this antibiotic therapy for a minimum of 2 years. The cost of this medication and any required monitoring has been generously sponsored/donated to help ensure Anita will always receive everything needed to manage this treatable disease.   It is certain that Anita will bring immeasurable love and joy to her forever home and family. She has already suffered too much pain and grief in her young life. But over and over she has proven she is a fighter, a survivor! Anita is 11 months old and is a terrific size weighing a perfect 42lbs. She is living happily in her foster home with 5 other dogs and a cat. She is great with kids too! One thing we have been repeatedly told about Anita is that she is wicked smart!  We recognize Anita’s medical needs require a higher level of commitment. But what an incredible opportunity to make a difference in her life and share the journey of this sweet, precious, very deserving soul.  Anita is spayed, up to date on vaccines, microchipped and has received a ProHeart injection. ##1939281##

Story
Joe and his sister Jolene were living under an abandoned camper slightly off a rural highway in an area marked "no trespassing" and considered unsafe. An elderly man saw them there and started leaving food. After a few weeks he posted on social media he could not continue to feed them. Without rescue the puppies would likely starve, die from infection, get hit on the highway or be killed by other animals. Both puppies had developed skin conditions from fleas, unsanitary living conditions and poor nutrition.' After proper vetting, medicated baths, a high quality diet and lots of TLC these precious  siblings are are thriving!   Joe is sweet as can be, affectionate, happy and very smart. He loves to run and play.  This boy is very handsome! His coat is a striking shiny black. His skin has healed and his fur is thick and beautiful. Joe is up to date on vaccines and will be microchipped and neutered when age appropriate.   ##2071580##

Story
This is Annie Oakley the Rootinest-Tootinest Cowdog southeast of the Pacos.  Annie is 2.5 yrs old, Labrador mix,  approximately 45lbs, and she is a beauty, her coat shines like a diamond UTD on vaccines, spayed, HW negative.  Annie “O” is a little bit shy at first but once she feels that she is in a loving home, she is a loyal companion. *Patience is the key to Annie “O” success in her new home.  Annie “O” walks well on a leash, knows basic commands, and is crate trained. Annie “O” is dog selective, and would do better in an adult active environment. Having a fenced backyard would be a big plus since she loves to sniff and stroll.  Annie “O” currently lives with a pride of cats, she does well and finds it fun to chase around the house but to never hurt.‍‍‍‍‍‍‍ Should you be interested in meeting and adopting Annie “O” please complete your application through Dirt Road Doggies Rescue. ##1342280##
