Story
A FUN & HAPPY-NATURED GIRL:  Approx. 2 years old / Approx. 58 lbs.  Hi, I’m Jaquelyn! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and I’m in a great foster home, having fun while I wait for my new family to find me!  I’m looking for a family with a stay/work from home family member as I do go out to potty a few times during the day, but my foster says no more than her dogs need to go.  I have a congenital kidney defect which is easily managed and like my foster reported, I’m good with a few let outs during the day and have been great all night long without any potty breaks!  I’ll most likely have a little shorter lifespan than some other dogs, but I’m living life to the fullest!  Maybe we can do that together?  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I just love playing with and palling around with the 3 dogs in my foster home, so if you have a friendly dog at home already, let’s meet! / I’m a bit too curious about the cat in my foster home so my foster thinks I’d do best in a home without a cat.  / I haven’t been around kids, so if you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over with my enthusiasm. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  My foster reports that I’m a great dog who is lovable, huggable, and sweet!  I’m a Velcro dog and I like to be the pup to get the most attention, so I’ll wiggle my way into the affection, though not in a mean way at all and I’ve learned to stop when my foster says ‘no, ‘sit’, or ‘back’. Playful, active, silly and fun – I am sure to bring lots of love to my new family! I’m a great alert/guard dog, and my foster reports that nothing gets by me – lol. Just acknowledge me by saying ‘OK Jacquelyn, I know’ or it’s ok’ and I’ll stop alerting you.  My foster jokingly says that I can hear a pin drop in the next county - lol!  So, best no apartment or condo type living since there would be so many noises. / My energy level is approximately 6-7, so let’s make time for play sessions or perhaps some hikes. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I know the ‘sit’, down’, leave it’, ‘shake/paw’, ‘stay’ and ‘wait’ at feeding times commands. I also walk great on my leash and although alert during my walks, I don’t bark at or pull towards other dogs or people. If I’m jumpy with them, I’ll stop with a ‘no’ or if my foster turns their back.  My jumps are super soft and gentle, but my foster is working with me to not jump at all, and she says I’m almost there. I’m treat motivated and cut up carrots are a nice treat for my training. / I sleep with the other dogs on our very own mattress in my foster’s bedroom at night and don’t need a crate in my foster home. / My potty manners are great in my foster home!  I’ll sit by the door if I need to go out in between the potty schedule my foster has for me and the other dogs in the home.    • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love spending time with people getting attention, playing, and  being gently hugged and rubbed. Balls and toys are great fun for fetching – though it is more like a game of ‘keep away’ – lol.  I get excited when I hear the ice machine - frozen treats, yay!  Durable chew toys help me not chew on things that don’t belong to me, so let’s have lots of those, though if there’s stuffing sticking out from furniture, I likely can’t resist. I got to splash around in a lake recently and enjoyed that!  I also ride well in the car, so let’s go on some adventures! I also love going outside with the other dogs in my foster home so I can chase a critter from our yard (I think I’m quiet and can sneak up on them – lol) or to just sniff around. I also enjoy a good game of tug-o-war with the other dogs or my person.  / I don’t like the loud vacuum (what is THAT thing all about?), unexpected noises that make me a bit jumpy at times and the silly mop that I try to catch.  I am good for my bath, but can’t wait for it to be over and I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on my immunizations, micro-chipped and spayed. I eat Science Diet k/d dog food to help with my kidneys and have just had bloodwork done which shows that it’s really working!  The vet was so happy with the great results and so was I!  I’ll need regular checkups for my kidney health - twice a year is recommended.  If you’re a stay/work from home family and want a great dog to be active with, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.    November 3, 2024, 8:07 am

Story
A WONDERFUL FRIEND:  Approx. 2 years old / Approx. 34 lbs.  Hello!  I’m Brent!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control.  I am sure to win your heart at first sight with my handsome sleek coat and unique eyes.  In addition, I am simply a great dog – ready to be your new best friend!  I spent some time in the prison/foster training program off site and learned a lot!   • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I liked playing with the 2 male, young, larger dogs in my temp. foster home.  My temp. foster fed us in separate crates, but I was protective of my food and snapped toward the air at the other dogs as though I was concerned they would come after my food.  Please ask my trainer about ways to help with this.  I met other dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them as well, so if you have a dog at home already, let’s meet! / I did well with the laid-back kitty in my temp. foster home, just chasing occasionally, but showed no aggression.  If you have a dog-friendly or dog-tolerant cat at home, let’s meet. / I really love the 5- and 8-year-old girls in my temp. foster home!  I also met kids around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts and liked them too, so if you have kids around that age, let’s meet.  No toddlers as I don’t seem comfortable around them, and I’m still a mouthy player.    • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  The volunteers describe me as a ‘friendly and curious wiggle worm’ – lol.  I was sweet and calm for my shelter bath and – though I have plenty of puppy energy, my curiosity finds me sitting back and observing all the goings on at the shelter at times.  Playful and loving, I am sure to bring lots of love to my new home! / My energy level is 7-8, so I’d like to be active with my family.  My temp. foster said her dogs helped me tire out quickly, lol. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping.  / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts and in my temp. foster home, where I was very quiet and slept through the night, although I did figure out how to get out of my crate once. /  My potty manners were been very good in my temp. foster home. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I like toys (especially tennis balls!) and love it when the volunteers bring them out for a play session.  After playtime, I am all about the cuddles. I like going for walks, so let’s do that together. / I got car sick several times when I went places with my temp. foster so keep a towel handy.  Hopefully I’ll overcome this in time. I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered.  I am taking an over-the-counter joint supplement (Cosequin) to help strengthen my joints as I currently favor one front leg slightly over the other. I am looking for a wonderful home with a great family!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  November 3, 2024, 8:07 am

Story
A REAL SWEETHEART OF A GIRL:  Approx. 11 years old / Approx. 43 lbs.  Hi, my name is Bela!  I was adopted as a puppy from Mostly Mutts and was a loving and loyal pet to my previous family for many years.  Unfortunately – as time went on, they had less and less time for me.  I am back with Mostly Mutts now while I wait for a new forever home where I will be a cherished family member in my golden years. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I recently met dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I was reactive towards them.  For this reason, I would like to be your only dog, please.  / I got along fine with cats in my previous home, according to my former owner. If you have a dog-friendly kitty, let’s meet and see if we can be pals. / I lived with kids in my previous home and liked them, though I can’t remember their ages.  So, if you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over.  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a sweet and loving girl with a gentle nature you are sure to love.  I’m alert and smart and though not super playful, I do have lots of love to give to my new family.  The volunteers love me and even call me a ‘love’.  A sweet senior girl, I will be your loyal companion in exchange for your love and kindness. I’m looking for a family member that is home most of the time as I’ve developed some separation anxiety (which I’ve started medication for) and did some damage to a door-frame when left alone as well as broke out of a wooden fence when left alone. So, please don’t leave me unattended in the yard when you are gone. / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, and have mastered the ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘come’ and ‘leave it’ commands. I also use proper door etiquette and greet friendly strangers without jumping on them. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / My former family reported that I was potty trained, and I've had very few accidents on the shelter schedule, so I just may need to learn the routine in my new home.  Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love being with people and would relish my time being included in family activities in my new home.  I would likely enjoy spending time with you outside in a nice, fenced yard, but don’t leave me unattended, as I have dug out of a fenced yard in the past. / I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I had a cyst removed from my neck and it’s healing nicely. I also have some older lady lumps that are of no concern and don’t bother me, and I hope they won’t bother you either.  I have started an inexpensive medication for my separation anxiety. I am looking for a great home with a loving family to cherish me during my golden years. My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.          November 3, 2024, 8:07 am

Story
ACTIVE, FUN & READY FOR ADVENTURE:  Approx. 5 years old / Approx. 29 lbs. Hi, my name is Clay!  I joined the Mostly Mutts family when they rescued me from animal control.  I’m keeping the volunteers on their toes with my energetic personality.  Always on the move and ready for adventure, I look forward to being active with my new family.  Let’s exercise together!  I got to spend some time in the prison/foster training program where I had a great time and learned a lot, too!   • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I recently met dogs in the prison/foster training program, and I was friendly with them. If you have a nice doggie at home already, let’s meet and see if we can be pals.  / I met a kitty at Mostly Mutts, and we all agree that I should not live with cats. / I get excited about my toys and sometimes try to grab at them, so older teens (15+) may be best.  I have done well changing this behavior when my trainer tells me to ‘wait’, and I hold my ‘sit’.  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m an active and enthusiastic guy who is playful and ready for fun.  If it’s playtime, I am all in and I see many things as toys, so I’ll toss them all around to play!  I was well-mannered for my bath, so it was a breeze. I’m a people dog who greets the volunteers with unbridled joy. / My energy level is a 10, so I am looking for an active family member to help me direct my energy with fun adventures.  I also really need a fenced-in yard in my new home to be successful given my energy level for some fun playtimes with you. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I’ve mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘place’, ‘leave it’ and ‘down’ commands. I also accept friendly strangers without jumping and utilize proper door etiquette.  My leash manners are good overall, but I sometimes want to jump up at people walking nearby.  My trainer can talk to you about this, as she has helped me curb this behavior.  I’ll also be working on my toy sharing manners, as I am obsessed with my toys (especially tennis balls).  My trainer is currently teaching me how to exchange my toys for a treat.  I am also doing well with the ‘wait’ command for this behavior.  Check back soon to see my progress. / I can be a bit jumpy getting out of my kennel, as I am super excited to be with the volunteers. I sometimes push the bottom tray of my crate out so I can play/chew it, so make sure it’s secure please. / My potty habits have been good on the prison/foster training program schedule. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love being with people and am enthusiastic when they come to spend time with me.  I also really love tennis balls, the XL red plastic ball in the MM play yard and squeaky toys.  In fact, I like anything I consider a toy a bit TOO much right now.  My trainer is working with me on my tendency to obsess over my toys.   I’m excited for mealtime, so the volunteers have me using a slow feeder, which is good for the digestion for fast eaters.  I would like a fenced-in yard in my new home, to help me work out some of the extra energy that I have with you.  / I can’t think of any other dislikes besides those mentioned above but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, EXERCISE, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I am looking for a fun-loving family who is dedicated to spending the time with me necessary to meet my energy needs!   My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.     November 13, 2024, 7:02 am
