Story
A FUN & HAPPY-NATURED GIRL:  Approx. 2 years old / Approx. 58 lbs.  Hi, I’m Jaquelyn! I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control and I’m in a great foster home, having fun while I wait for my new family to find me!  I’m looking for a family with a stay/work from home family member as I do go out to potty a few times during the day, but my foster says no more than her dogs need to go.  I have a congenital kidney defect which is easily managed and like my foster reported, I’m good with a few let outs during the day and have been great all night long without any potty breaks!  I’ll most likely have a little shorter lifespan than some other dogs, but I’m living life to the fullest!  Maybe we can do that together?  • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I just love playing with and palling around with the 3 dogs in my foster home, so if you have a friendly dog at home already, let’s meet! / I’m a bit too curious about the cat in my foster home so my foster thinks I’d do best in a home without a cat.  / I haven’t been around kids, so if you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over with my enthusiasm. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  My foster reports that I’m a great dog who is lovable, huggable, and sweet!  I’m a Velcro dog and I like to be the pup to get the most attention, so I’ll wiggle my way into the affection, though not in a mean way at all and I’ve learned to stop when my foster says ‘no, ‘sit’, or ‘back’. Playful, active, silly and fun – I am sure to bring lots of love to my new family! I’m a great alert/guard dog, and my foster reports that nothing gets by me – lol. Just acknowledge me by saying ‘OK Jacquelyn, I know’ or it’s ok’ and I’ll stop alerting you.  My foster jokingly says that I can hear a pin drop in the next county - lol!  So, best no apartment or condo type living since there would be so many noises. / My energy level is approximately 6-7, so let’s make time for play sessions or perhaps some hikes. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I know the ‘sit’, down’, leave it’, ‘shake/paw’, ‘stay’ and ‘wait’ at feeding times commands. I also walk great on my leash and although alert during my walks, I don’t bark at or pull towards other dogs or people. If I’m jumpy with them, I’ll stop with a ‘no’ or if my foster turns their back.  My jumps are super soft and gentle, but my foster is working with me to not jump at all, and she says I’m almost there. I’m treat motivated and cut up carrots are a nice treat for my training. / I sleep with the other dogs on our very own mattress in my foster’s bedroom at night and don’t need a crate in my foster home. / My potty manners are great in my foster home!  I’ll sit by the door if I need to go out in between the potty schedule my foster has for me and the other dogs in the home.    • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love spending time with people getting attention, playing, and  being gently hugged and rubbed. Balls and toys are great fun for fetching – though it is more like a game of ‘keep away’ – lol.  I get excited when I hear the ice machine - frozen treats, yay!  Durable chew toys help me not chew on things that don’t belong to me, so let’s have lots of those, though if there’s stuffing sticking out from furniture, I likely can’t resist. I got to splash around in a lake recently and enjoyed that!  I also ride well in the car, so let’s go on some adventures! I also love going outside with the other dogs in my foster home so I can chase a critter from our yard (I think I’m quiet and can sneak up on them – lol) or to just sniff around. I also enjoy a good game of tug-o-war with the other dogs or my person.  / I don’t like the loud vacuum (what is THAT thing all about?), unexpected noises that make me a bit jumpy at times and the silly mop that I try to catch.  I am good for my bath, but can’t wait for it to be over and I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on my immunizations, micro-chipped and spayed. I eat Science Diet k/d dog food to help with my kidneys and have just had bloodwork done which shows that it’s really working!  The vet was so happy with the great results and so was I!  I’ll need regular checkups for my kidney health - twice a year is recommended.  If you’re a stay/work from home family and want a great dog to be active with, then let’s meet! My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.    November 3, 2024, 8:07 am

Story
A REAL SWEETHEART OF A GIRL:  Approx. 12 years old / Approx. 47 lbs.  Hi, my name is Bela!  I was adopted as a puppy from Mostly Mutts and was a loving and loyal pet to my previous family for many years.  Unfortunately – as time went on, they had less and less time for me.  I am back with Mostly Mutts now while I wait for a new forever home where I will be a cherished family member in my golden years. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I recently met dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I was reactive towards them.  For this reason, I would like to be your only dog, please.  / I got along fine with cats in my previous home, according to my former owner. If you have a dog-friendly kitty, let’s meet and see if we can be pals. / I lived with kids in my previous home and liked them, though I can’t remember their ages.  So, if you have kids, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over.  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I am a sweet and loving girl with a gentle nature you are sure to love.  I’m alert and smart and though not super playful, I do have lots of love to give to my new family.  The volunteers love me and even call me a ‘love’.  A sweet senior girl, I will be your loyal companion in exchange for your love and kindness. I’m looking for a family member that is home most of the time as I’ve developed some separation anxiety (which I’ve started medication for) and did some damage to a door-frame when left alone as well as broke out of a wooden fence when left alone. So, please don’t leave me unattended in the yard when you are gone. / My energy level is 4-6. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, and have mastered the ‘sit’, ‘down’, ‘stay’, ‘come’ and ‘leave it’ commands. I also use proper door etiquette and greet friendly strangers without jumping on them. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / My former family reported that I was potty trained, and I've had very few accidents on the shelter schedule, so I just may need to learn the routine in my new home.  Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love being with people and would relish my time being included in family activities in my new home.  I love cuddling and would enjoy sleeping in your bed if you let me.  I also like riding in the car, so let’s go to some fun places together!  I would likely enjoy spending time with you outside in a nice, fenced yard, but don’t leave me unattended, as I have dug out of a fenced yard in the past. / Other than being alone, I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I had a cyst removed from my neck and it’s healing nicely. I also have some older lady lumps that are of no concern and don’t bother me, and I hope they won’t bother you either.  I have started an inexpensive medication for my separation anxiety. I am looking for a great home with a loving family to cherish me during my golden years. My adoption fee is $100.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.    December 19, 2024, 7:27 am

ACTIVE, FUN & READY FOR ADVENTURE:  Approx. 5 years old / Approx. 29 lbs. Hi, my name is Clay!  I joined the Mostly Mutts family when they rescued me from animal control.  I’m keeping the volunteers on their toes with my energetic personality.  Always on the move and ready for adventure, I look forward to being active with my new family.  Let’s exercise together!  I got to spend some time in the prison/foster training program where I had a great time and learned a lot, too!   • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I recently met dogs in the prison/foster training program, and I was friendly with them. If you have a nice doggie at home already, let’s meet and see if we can be pals.  / I met a kitty at Mostly Mutts, and we all agree that I should not live with cats. / I get excited about my toys and sometimes try to grab at them, so older teens (15+) may be best.  I have done well changing this behavior when my trainer tells me to ‘wait’, and I hold my ‘sit’.  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m an active and enthusiastic guy who is playful and ready for fun.  If it’s playtime, I am all in and I see many things as toys, so I’ll toss them all around to play!  I was well-mannered for my bath, so it was a breeze. I’m a people dog who greets the volunteers with unbridled joy. / My energy level is a 10, so I am looking for an active family member to help me direct my energy with fun adventures.  I also really need a fenced-in yard in my new home to be successful given my energy level for some fun playtimes with you. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I’ve mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘come’, ‘place’, ‘leave it’ and ‘down’ commands. I also accept friendly strangers without jumping and utilize proper door etiquette.  My leash manners are good overall, but I sometimes want to jump up at people walking nearby.  My trainer can talk to you about this, as she has helped me curb this behavior.  I’ll also be working on my toy sharing manners, as I am obsessed with my toys (especially tennis balls).  My trainer is currently teaching me how to exchange my toys for a treat.  I am also doing well with the ‘wait’ command for this behavior.  Check back soon to see my progress. / I can be a bit jumpy getting out of my kennel, as I am super excited to be with the volunteers. I sometimes push the bottom tray of my crate out so I can play/chew it, so make sure it’s secure please. / My potty habits have been good on the prison/foster training program schedule. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I love being with people and am enthusiastic when they come to spend time with me.  I also really love tennis balls, the XL red plastic ball in the MM play yard and squeaky toys.  In fact, I like anything I consider a toy a bit TOO much right now.  My trainer is working with me on my tendency to obsess over my toys.   I’m excited for mealtime, so the volunteers have me using a slow feeder, which is good for the digestion for fast eaters.  I would like a fenced-in yard in my new home, to help me work out some of the extra energy that I have with you.  / I can’t think of any other dislikes besides those mentioned above but I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, EXERCISE, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I am looking for a fun-loving family who is dedicated to spending the time with me necessary to meet my energy needs!   My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.     November 13, 2024, 7:02 am

Story
AN ACTIVE & SILLY BOY:  Approx. 1 year old / Approx. 34 lbs. Hi, my name’s Muttley – a handsome guy with beautiful eyes!  I came to Mostly Mutts from animal control.  Since joining the MM family, I’ve been soaking up all the love from the volunteers who come to care for me. They say I am now ready to find my new family, and I am so excited for that day.  Hopefully it will be soon!  I was in a temporary home for a few weeks, but I’m back with Mostly Mutts as it wasn’t a good fit.  I spent some time in the prison/foster training program off site and learned a lot! • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS: I recently met dogs at Mostly Mutts, and I was friendly with them. If you have a nice doggie at home already, let’s meet and see if we can be pals.  / The folks in my temporary home said I did well with their cat, so if you have a cat that likes dogs, let’s meet. / I met a boy and girl around 10 years old at Mostly Mutts, and I was sweet with them, but went after their feet when they ran - not aggressively, but playfully mouthy.  Since I’m still young and a bit jumpy and mouthy right now, kids 10+ would be the best for me, so let’s meet! • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I’m a happy and super sweet guy with a friendly demeanor.  The volunteers have noticed I am also quite focused, which bodes well for my future training success.  I’m playful and fun – ready to make lots of great memories with my new family. I was also sweet and calm for my shelter bath then – when it was over, I was ready to rumble and have fun with my bather!  I enjoy cuddling with the volunteers and like to give them kisses.  By the way, I can jump my gate at the shelter, so I should not be unsupervised in a fenced yard until you know I won’t try to do that. / My energy level is 6-8. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I am learning lots of great doggie commands with my trainer.  So far, I’ve mastered the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’, ‘place’, ‘down’, and ‘come’ commands as well as accept friendly strangers without jumping and use proper door etiquette.  I’m still very much a puppy and can be quite mouthy, so my trainers are working on that with me. / My crate manners are good at Mostly Mutts. / I had accidents on the shelter schedule, but in the temporary home, it was reported that I did well with my potty manners. • LIKES/DISLIKES:  I like to get attention from all the nice volunteers, and I love toys, too, so let’s have some fun playtimes!  A volunteer took me on a trip to the park and it was a blast!  I was very polite while riding in the car and I love to explore new places, so take me on lots of adventures with you!  / I can’t think of any dislikes, though I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I am looking for a wonderful furever home where I will be a cherished family member!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  December 30, 2024, 9:03 am

A SWEET GIRL GROWING IN CONFIDENCE:  Approx. 7 years old / Approx. 50 lbs. Hi, my name’s Yasmeen!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control and I’m sure happy they did!  I’m now ready to find my furever family to love!   I’m currently in the prison/foster training program off site and learning a lot!  Please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I’m available to meet. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I met some other dogs at Mostly Mutts and liked them, so if you have a dog at home already, let’s meet! / Cats unknown. / I met kids at Mostly Mutts that were around 10 years old, and I liked them, so if you have kids around that age, let’s meet and best no toddlers that I may bump over. • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  I arrived a bit nervous, so the volunteers gave me extra time to settle in and get to know them and then my sweetness shined through. They just go slowly with me, and I really appreciate that!  Once comfortable, I am a very loving girl who shows you happy tail wags and is affectionate.  I’m still a bit wary of strangers, but I do warm up quickly once I know I can trust them.  I was perfect for my bath and ‘just the sweetest girl. / My energy level is 4-6.   • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I’m a proud graduate of the Mostly Mutts University training program so I’ve learned the ‘sit’, ‘stay’, ‘down’, ‘come’, ‘drop it’, ‘leave it’ and ‘place’ commands.  I also use proper door etiquette and have good leash manners as well as accept nice strangers without jumping.  I’m very treat-motivated, which is probably why I am so accomplished as an MMU student. Check back soon to see what else I have learned. / I’m a little nervous in my kennel but am starting to get the routine of it. / I've been having very few accidents on the shelter schedule.  Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can fully master my potty skills.  • LIKES/DISLIKES:  Being with people is just the best, and I love all the attention and cuddles that come my way.  I am very calm on my leash, so let’s enjoy some walks together, though I seem a bit grass shy at times – sidewalks or a quieter trail could be great! / I’m still a bit nervous, so sudden movements startle me at the shelter, and I don’t think I’d like a home with a lot of folks coming and going or where I’d be rushed.  When I’m excited, I have played roughly with my humans – so best no wresting or roughhousing with me around.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love, attention, exercise, and training. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and spayed. I came in with untreated ear infections, so I’ve been treated for that. I have some skin irritation so I’m taking the allergy medication Apoquel and getting twice weekly medicated baths, which is helping me.   I am looking for a great home with a loving, furever family!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  December 10, 2024, 6:43 am

A STRONG & FRIENDLY BOY:  Approx. 4 years old / Approx. 63 lbs. Hello, I’m Porter!  Mostly Mutts rescued me from animal control, and I am super grateful that they are helping me on the journey to find my new family.  I’m soaking up all the love and good care from the shelter volunteers while I wait, and now I am ready to meet my new family – hopefully soon!  I’m currently in the prison/foster training program offsite and learning a lot!  Please inquire at 770-272-6888 to find out when I’m available to meet. • OTHER DOGS/CATS/KIDS:  I do not like other dogs, so I want to be your only dog! / Cats unknown. / I haven’t met kids yet at Mostly Mutts, so let’s meet and best no young kids that I may bump over.  Also, kids should not walk me due to my dislike of other dogs and my strength.  • PERSONALITY/ENERGY LEVEL:  The volunteers call me a ‘full-on happy dog’!  I’m a fun, playful guy who is quite energetic - full of excitement and joy!  I am an exuberant player and always excited to be with people.  I did calm down for my bath – only getting wiggly for my ear cleaning. If you are looking for a happy and enthusiastic friend, I am your guy! / My energy level is 5-7. • SKILLS/CRATE/POTTY:  I am a student in the Mostly Mutts University training program, where I look forward to learning lots of great commands with my trainer.  I’ve already mastered the ‘sit’ command, so check back soon to see what else I have learned.  I am a bit jumpy and pull hard on my leash, so I am working on my leash skills now and should be walked by a strong, savvy walker. The volunteers are teaching me the ‘place’ command to help with my excitability during leashing. / I have good manners in my crate, though I come out of it like gangbusters, so it is not my favorite place.  I keep the volunteers on their toes. / My potty habits are pretty good, as I've had hardly any accidents on the shelter schedule.  Please continue to be consistent with me on a good schedule, so I can fully master my potty skills. • LIKES/DISLIKES:   I love people and enthusiastically seek attention from them.  Playing and being active makes me a happy guy. Treats are yummy, and I have sat nicely for them. I do everything with gusto, including eating my meals, so I use a slow feeding bowl at Mostly Mutts and should use one in my new home. / I don’t love having my ears cleaned and I would not be happy in a home where I didn’t get enough exercise and training.  Otherwise, I’m sure I wouldn’t like it if I didn’t get enough love and attention. • MEDICAL:  I'm current on vaccinations, micro-chipped and neutered. I am looking for a loving home with a great family for life!  My adoption fee is $299.00, and I’m located in Kennesaw, Ga.  December 27, 2024, 9:28 am

Story
Brutus is a sweet boy who needs someone to love and play with. We guess him to be around 1.5-2 years old. He’s very energetic. Loves to be outside. He loves to play ball! We believe him to be a pointer and therefore we think he could make a good hunting buddy. He really needs a fenced in yard to run in. Does fine around cats but does enjoy chasing them if they run. I think he would be good with a canine companion as long as they are patient and it would probably be best if they were close to his size. He’s also been around kids and does great.
