Story
Bernie is an interesting little fellow with enough quirks to keep you guessing for a life time. Bernie loves to meet new people and always alerts staff with an excited bark when his favorite volunteers are on site. Bernie has a Woof Pack leader here at Satchel's and has become a big explorer and the longer the walk, car ride or adventure, the better, though sometimes he doesn't want to come back, and will stop and sit in protest. He adores running and traveling so if you take morning jogs, training for marathons, or travel across country, Bernie would be your perfect partner. He is gentle with his toys, and has no problem sharing his things with you. He is also a BIG time water dog, playing in the pool, splashing in a puddle, or even attempting to cool off in his water bowl, H2O is the way to go! Rolling in the grass or hanging out in the cool sandbox are also favorites of this special boy. Although not a big boy, Bernie is a fence jumper/climber and can scale a 6 foot fence without hesitation making leaving him alone in a yard for even a few minutes not an option. Bernie suffers with a severe anxiety disorder. He takes medication for his anxiety but still has panic attacks from time to time. He is looking for a home with a patient, loving family who will be there to help him through these times. Bernie is now 8 years old and has spent too many of those years at Satchel's. This boy has so much love to give, and is just waiting for that special person who will keep him feeling safe and loved. If you think you have the time and patience to give Bernie his forever home, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will contact you.

Misha is ready to find a forever home to call her own! This precious girl is enjoying the attention of staff and volunteers at the shelter after being in a home with 6 other dogs and having to share her person. Her excitement of being out and about can lead to some pulling on leash. She would definitely benefit from a little leash-walking training. Once the exercise is done, she wants nothing more than to lay down beside you for some belly rubs. Submit the no obligation application found at Satchelslastresort.org and make an appointment to meet this sweet senior.

Story
Peppy is ready to move on to her furever home. Satchel's rescued Peppy from Animal Services in the fall of 2017, so she has been a shelter dog for a long time. This poor girl was a starvation case and learning to trust people came a little hard for her. Thanks to our caring staff and volunteers, she is now able to live her life again, without constant fear of being abandoned or mistreated. While Peppy can be a little uneasy on first greeting, it doesn't take long for her charming personality to show through. Once she knows you, she is perhaps one of the sweetest little characters in the shelter. She is definitely a comedian. She loves a good game of catch me if you can and loves rolling on her back and playing "patty cake". She also believes she is a lap dog, despite her 50 pound size. She may be 11 years of age, but she certainly doesn't act it. She also adores car rides. She will, however, try her hardest to sit shotgun. She also does great with other dogs. Peppy will likely always need some maintenance for her skin and ears. She is currently on Apoquel and gets Cytopoint when she get a major flare up. Her ears have always been a source of discomfort and unfortunately she does not like anyone messing with them. Her ears need in office vet care when she has flare ups. We know Peppy is the perfect dog for someone. If you think maybe that someone could be you, please submit your application (no commitment) found on our website, at Satchelslastresort.org.

Story
Meet Rooney, a handsome 1-year-old Silver Lab with a heart as big as his smile 💙 Rooney is the total package—handsome, housetrained, and wonderfully friendly with both people and dogs. He absolutely loves attention and is happiest when he’s included in whatever his humans are doing. He’s currently learning basic commands like sit and already walks well on a leash. True to his Lab nature, Rooney is affectionate, playful, and delightfully goofy. Because Rooney thrives on companionship, he would do best in a home with another dog or with a family that is home often. A secure 5–6 ft fenced yard is ideal. He has been known to hop shorter fences, but only to join the fun—Rooney simply doesn’t want to miss out on people or canine friends if left alone. Rooney weighs 68.5 lbs and gets along great with other dogs. He’s a classic, happy-go-lucky Lab who brings joy wherever he goes. Rooney is: 🐾 Neutered 🐾 Microchipped 🐾 Up to date on vaccines 🐾 Heartworm negative 📍 Fostered in Sarasota, FL 💲 Adoption fee: $400 If you’re ready to welcome this lovable hunk into your life, apply to adopt at: 👉 www.love4pawsfl.org/adopt

Story
Bailey is a beautiful choc lab. She gets very excited about people and thinks everyone wants to pet her. She has had basic training and off leash training. However, I am her worst care taker becausevI don't reinforce what she's learned. My husband had open heart surgery and hip replacement in the same year, so Bailey was not walked enough to burn her energy and seems to have stayed high energy ever since. I also have a bad shoulder and need hipnreplacent in the Spring, so its hard to walk her or take her to a park because she pulls on the leash. She has pulled me down on snow covered driveway while visiting my daughter. I think she would do best with a fenced in yard where she can run or with a handler that can handle her energy. We also sold our home and live on an Rv 6 months a year where she has to be on a leash when outside and in a park model the other 6 months with pretty much the same regulations. I love her deeply, but she deserves a better life than we can give her.

Story
Meet Scarlett! 💖 Scarlett is a 4-month-old purebred German Shorthaired Pointer with a natural tail and a heart full of potential. She was originally taken in by a kind family who rescued her and two siblings from an irresponsible breeder. When they realized they couldn’t keep all three, they did the right thing and entrusted Scarlett to a responsible, breed-knowledgeable rescue so she could find the amazing home she deserves. Scarlett is everything you’d expect from a GSP puppy—smart, affectionate, energetic, and people-oriented. She is already housetrained and crate trained, giving her a great start in life. She thrives on exercise, playtime, and companionship, and she loves being around her people and other dogs. While her cat compatibility is unknown, proper introductions at her young age may be successful. She loves other dogs. She is currently a bit skinny but is steadily gaining weight and doing well in foster care. Scarlett is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and spayed. 📍 Fostered in Sarasota, FL 💲 Adoption fee: $450 If you have questions about Scarlett, please email Info@Love4PawsFL.org. Story
Orion is a 2 1/2 YO male German Shorthaired Pointer who weighs 64 pounds. He lived with 3 other GSPs, has been around many other dogs of many sizes, cats, and kids. So easy to say, he's good with everyone! He was surrendered with his brother, Zeus, due to the family's living conditions changing, and their landlord requiring that they get rid of them, but this was no fault of their own. Orion is housetrained and crate trained. True to his breed, he has a lot of energy and will need a home where he can receive plenty of off-leash exercise. He has lived with many other dogs in the past, and exhibited a bit of stress while kenneled so he will NEED at least one other dog in his new home. Orion is very social and just loves attention. He has not learned commands, but is very polite and does not jump up on people. He will need some leash training though, but is already making great strides in this area. Orion is heartworm negative, up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and neutered, and is on heartworm and flea/tick prevention. He is fostered in Sarasota and his adoption fee is $400. If you are interested in meeting this handsome guy, please complete an adoption application at https://www.love4pawsfl.org/adopt. If you have applied with us previously, please just send an email to Info@Love4PawsFL.org to express your interest in this sweet boy.
