Story
Artemis is a very energetic dog and is very excited, he will be 4 in December. He loves to do everything none stop, he will retrieve a ball when thrown and you will quit before he does. He knows basic commands and listens well when instructed with treats in hand. He is very food driven. He has a problem with jumping up when excited but listens when bribed with food. We are unable to give him the attention he deserves. We aren't able to spend enough time with him to allow him to burn off his energy. He's too much for us to handle. Artemis is good with kid, dogs, and even cats. He ignores cats but loves to play with other dogs, he's never shown any signs of aggression.

Story
Noah About a week ago, one of our volunteers found out about a dog who had been living on the side of I-75 for months, all alone We spoke to animal control and found out that he used to live on the on ramp and then crossed over to a field next to a plaza. He was being fed, but no one could catch him and no one was looking for him With sheer luck and determination, he was caught this past Monday by a woman who had been visiting and feeding him and the help of two other people! He was terrified in the moment, but immediately wiggled up to them once in the car The last few months have been rough for him - his ribs are showing, his skin is flaky, he has scars, fleas, and had ticks embedded in his armpits. He has never been on a leash, never ridden in a car and never seen a TV. But, he's been practicing leash walking all week and learning so fast! (Video in comments) Amazingly, he is pretty comfortable in a house, has not had a single accident and doesn't mind being in a crate. He's a very easy houseguest Noah is looking for a loving home who can change it all for him. Someone to love him, help him with leash walking, put some weight on him and let him play with your dog Noah is about 1-1.5 years old, a skinny 50lbs, most likely a Labrador Retriever & Hound mix and was just neutered. He loves all dogs and is very submissive. His forever home needs a secure 6ft fenced yard, no kids and a playful dog to be his best friend. Story
Hello! I’m Sasha, a 7-8 year-old, 65-pound Lab mix. I’m an affectionate and active girl who is looking for a family that will open up their home and hearts to me. I'm a little shy when I first meet you, but once I get to know you, I'm your best buddy. I’m very social and love playing, swimming and cuddling. I get along with other mellow dogs, with proper introduction. I have been a part of my current family for almost five years and I know it’s with great sadness that they have to leave me behind as they are moving overseas. I am now waiting to start a new chapter of my life in a home full of love. If you’re interested in meeting me, please go to our website, safepawsrescue.com, and complete the Adoption Application. Our application process includes a home visit and veterinarian and/or personal check. Safe Paws Rescue is a small rescue in St. Petersburg, FL so we accept inquiries from residents in Pinellas County only, please.

Story
Peppy is ready to move on to her furever home. Satchel's rescued Peppy from Animal Services in the fall of 2017. This poor girl was a starvation case and learning to trust people came a little hard for her. Thanks to our caring staff and volunteers, she is now able to live her life again, without constant fear of being abandoned or mistreated. Peppy has a Woof Pack leader here at Satchel's helping her learn some basic social skills and introducing her to the outside world. She would do best in an adult only home and does appear to get along with other dogs. Peppy has recurring ear infections and needs a vet visit every few months to have them cleaned under sedation as she doesn't like anyone messing with her ears. If you are interested in giving Peppy her retirement home, please submit your application (no commitment) found on our website, at Satchelslastresort.org.

Story
* SPECIAL NEEDS - ANXIETY * Bernie is an interesting little fellow with enough quirks to keep you guessing for a life time. He comes off as very shy but he loves to meet people. When he knows his favorite volunteers are at Satchel's, you can guarantee Bernie will let them know with an excited bark and stretches saying "it's time to go!" Bernie has a Woof Pack leader here at Satchel's and has become a big explorer and the longer the walk, car ride or adventure, the better, though sometimes he doesn't want to come back, and will stop and sit in protest. He adores running and traveling so if you take morning jogs, train for marathons, or travel across country, Bernie would be your perfect partner. He is gentle with his toys, and has no problem sharing his things with you. Bernie loves all life and has only shown adoration or curiosity with whatever comes his way. He is also a BIG time water dog, playing in the pool, splashing in a puddle, or even attempting to cool off in his water bowl, H2O is the way to go! Although not a big boy, Bernie is a fence jumper/climber and can scale a 6 foot fence without hesitation making leaving him alone in a yard for even a few minutes not an option. Bernie suffers with a severe anxiety disorder. He takes medication for his anxiety but still has panic attacks from time to time. He is looking for a home with a patient, loving family who will be there to help him through the "bad" times. Just 6 years old, with so much love to give, this amazing pup is just waiting for that special person who will keep him feeling safe and loved. If you think you have the time and patience to give Bernie his forever home, please submit the adoption application (no commitment) found on our website, www.satchelslastresort.org, and an adoption counselor will set up an appointment for you to meet this special boy.

Story
Ernie is a gentle, easy-going soul. He is happiest going for long strolls and is a great walker. He enjoys car rides too. He is an independent boy who doesn't always show many outward signs of affection, but you know he appreciates company. He is selective of his canine companions and prefers the no-nonsense type. He would be happy in a quiet home where he could just netflix and chill.
