Story
HELP!!  HELP!!  HELP!! Tater is in need of a new home, but then what's new, so many, many wonderful four legged pets are in need of  kind, loving, caring and responsible new homes.  This handsome boy is six years old, weighs in at  eighty three pounds and is a fabulous  Labrador Retriever mix. What a sweetheart this lad is!!!  He totally loves everyone and never meets a stranger.   He has a terrific personality, he is easy going and very, very kind.   He did have a home once.  His owners decided they  didn't want him any longer so they put him in the car and drove him straight to  Hillsborough County Animal Services, a very, very HIGH kill county shelter.  He did absolutely NOTHING to deserve being dumped/abandoned.  What a lucky, lucky pooch him is, he is one of the few that made it out alive.  So many, many   that walk through the doors at animal control facilities NEVER make it out, they are put to sleep.  Not because of anything they have done, because of their owners who plain and simply do NOT have any regard for their lives.  It is sooooo terribly sad, so many, many die unnecessarily.  We have promised him he will get the MOST terrific home in the world this time around.  Don't you think he deserves a great home with someone that loves him and will be his bestest bud for the rest of his life!!  We sure do!!  His foster folks think he is just the best companion ever!  He is just the most awesome gent you have ever met.  Very hard to believe with knowing what he's been through.  One thing is for doggone sure and that is that he is one handsome dude!.  And of course he's as sweet as sugar and  definitely just as happy as a clam!!!  Here is what this baby doll would love.   Tater would love to go on nice long car rides, and loves nice long walks.    He will love to snuggle in right next to you at night and help keep you keep the sheets warm!!   During the day, he'd love to watch TV with you, actually, he'll really love being right next to you at all times.  You see, Tater is very affectionate and loves spending as much time as he possibly can just hanging out at home, following you around and doing whatever you say.  He wants to make you soooo happy, so he's going to do everything in his power to please you.  What he DOES NOT want is to loose his home again, this time he wants a permanent place in someones heart, someone that wall make a commitment to care for him, love him, and keep him with them forever and ever!   What more could anyone ask for, Tater is completely housebroken and totally trustworthy to be left home alone! This gent is pretty close to perfect!!!   In fact, he is perfect!!   Is he just the best or what??  Yep, he IS the best!!!   Any questions you may have regarding Tater, please call 813-263-5531.  Adoption donation $85.00August 8, 2023, 12:22 am

Story
Blossom is 7 years old, was used for breeding, was treated very badly and I rescued her on the 2nd day after having the babies because she was dying. She is used to being outside the house but I have her in the room I rented and she is super obedient and clean. She is obsessed with balls and always wants to play with the ball outside. Blossom has skin allergies and takes a human allergy pill every day. She doesn’t eat much but she is super sweet. She has his house and cage and I can also continue paying for her food. She’s very terrified by lightnings so she needs to be inside the house when that happens

Story
UPDATE:  465 DAYS AT OUR KENNEL looking for a home.  Sweet Max.one year old black lab mix. Max seems to have been incredibly unsocialized, we think possibly locked in a crate in a room alone for quite a while.  He acts like an 8 week old puppy with no boundaries but he's in a big boy body.  He needs a lot of work. Housebroken. Loves bath time and water. Loves toys. Playful and energetic, as any lab puppy should be. He's great with other dogs. Unknown with cats and other animals as he has never been around them. He needs a big yard and grass and sunshine. He is a good boy.  ##1039448##

Story
Updated 6/20/2024: Sioux (pronounced "Sue") is a sweet, silly Lab/hound mix girl. She was born in late June 2022 and is very friendly. She weighs about 60 pounds - and is probably fully-grown now. (We do not know her exact breed mix.) The adoption fee for Sioux is $200. She has fully recovered from her spay surgery, and has been microchipped and is fully vaccinated. She's receiving monthly flea and heartworm prevention - and had a recent fecal (negative) and heartworm test (negative.) Sioux did fantastic with crate training as she recovered from her spay. She's very affectionate and is quite fond of peanut butter. We've working with Sioux on leash walking - she loves to explore (and choose her own direction) and will need some continued training - but she will pee on leash. Her ideal home would have a large fenced yard so she can sniff, explore and zoom. (She has not been introduced to young children or cats.) Sioux has a brother, Jackson, also currently available for adoption. If you want more information about Sioux, call or text Jody at 352-316-5155 or email her at SCRWestLevy@gmail.com. Thanks for your interest in adopting - and for your patience as we are an all-volunteer rescue! (We do keep our posts current! Sometimes we have to repost a pup when an adoption falls through. Thanks for understanding.) - - - - - PS. Second Chance Rescue posts our pets on AdoptAPet.com. While we are grateful that AdoptAPet shares their information with partner sites, including Overstock and PetHarbor and others, we don't have any control over how frequently those partner sites update their content. Story
He is a sweet boy. Not sure why this keeps happening, but there can be NO COLLARS on ANY ANIMAL in the home with him. Twice he has gotten his teeth caught up in another dog's collar and it has turned into a traumatic event. Maybe if he had some training it would help. He is very mouthy in play. He likes to grab the other dogs with his mouth and pull on them. Never puncturing their skin or hurting them, but I think that that's why he was getting his teeth caught in the collars, because he likes to drag things around with his mouth. He has gotten along with every dog that I've put in with them, but he might do better off in a home where he is the only dog, with a submissive dog or he would need training to lose that behavior. Unknown how he is with cats or kids. Neutered, microchipped and fully vetted. ##1736086##

Story
Are you loooking for a sweet ride or die? Look no further. Butch is a delightful friend and SO SMART!  Rescued from a tethered hell. Butch languished for months on a cable tether. He was not fed well and he was taunted... treated like a vicious beast. He was frustated and anxious. Afraid and alone. Within moments of meeting him, we saw something different. We spent time sitting on the stoop, tossing him bits of our lunch. Eventually he settled enough to start catching the bits we tossed him. We then asked him to sit. And HE DID.  How were we to believe this was a bad dog? He is a good dog that has been treated badly. We have had him for a couple weeks now and he is a new man. He is a big sweet, intelligent goof ball. He has started playing and loves to go for truck rides. He uses his nose to move your hand if he needs something. He is just amazing. He is not a purebred Golden retriever but he is SO GOLDEN! He is not recommended around small children, small animals or other dogs. He is intitailly distrusting of strangers but warms up to kindness quickly.  He weighed 75 pounds when rescued and was VERY thin! He will likelt be a 100 pound dog when he is fully filled out! We have videos on our facebook that share the progression of his rescue. Just Search "BUTCH" in out facebook page.  We have just a few volunteers and there is a week or two turnaround for adoption applications. If you cannot find our adoption application, please text our director for a link: Aspen (352)843-6858 ##1366256##
